Property Ratings at Governor's Court Apartments
The current owners have been a improvement over the previous management. Amanda and Brian handle all issues promptly, and efficiently. They are dealing with the failures of previous owners to properly maintain this property.
Been living at this place for 3 months. Very well maintained and great neighborhood esp for the price!
I have lived at Governors Court apartments for a little over a year now. Since Huntington has taken over management everything has been better. Any maintenance requests put in are addressed in a timely manner, the property manager has been easy to reach if needed, she is understanding and prompt in responding.
This apt complex was recently bought out. Mgmt wasn’t great before but it became even worse afterwards. The only thing that really changed was the ridiculous increase in monthly rent & the painting of outside building. My senior aged parents lived here from 2019 until Jan of 2023. They had problems with their toilet flushing since the first yr they moved in - & it never got repaired nor did they replace the toilet like they had originally promised. Water would leak from the ceiling in the bathroom & run down the walls . Bugs would occupy the kitchen cupboards and they stopped spraying around the apts shortly after being bought out by Huntington . My parents were loyal tenants, always paying rent on time since 2019 and then after being bought out by Huntington , they were told w/o reason they were not going to renew their contact, giving them a month to find a new place. Good luck getting any repairs or maintenance needed done. The flooring isn’t even real vinyl- it’s wallpaper that glued down on top of the old unleveled flooring. Also ppl like to throw trash all Around the garage dump & in the parking lot. Please DO Not move here- I guesss unless you’re really really desperate.
Property Manager at Governor's Court Apartments, Responded To This Review
We are sorry that your parents had an unsatisfactory experience at Governors Court. Huntington acquired Governors Court on September 15, 2022 and the only item in this review which is true is that we did not provide a new lease to these residents. We are strongly committed to addressing any and all maintenance items and the issues you mention predated our acquisition of the complex. Huntington has invested in capital expenditures at the property including replacing all the gas HVAC and Water Heaters with new electric units which is a significant benefit to our residents. We have experienced a 95% resident renewal rate at Governors Court since acquisition indicating most existing residents appreciate their experience with Huntington. We wish you and your parents well.
Cheap apartment, roaches, 3 managers within 1 year. Water leak stains in ceiling and across tops of walls.
Property Manager at Governor's Court Apartments, Responded To This Review
This review was submitted prior to our acquisition of the complex on September 15,2022. Huntington is committed to addressing any and all maintenance issues.
I lived here from July 9-September 23, 2016. I was told about a roach problem the people before me had. I was assured that pest control was on it, and it might "take a little while", a week or so, until it was solved. Well, I dealt with German roaches the whole 2 1/2 months I lived there. I never left food or dirty dishes out. I stored open containers in the refrigerator. My dog's food was sealed up. There was also a horrid smell in the kitchen that my husband swears is from the roaches. Soon after I moved in I noticed cigarette smoke. I had signed a "no smoking" clause with my lease, and was told the complex was nonsmoking. I have allergies and would never move to a place that allowed smoking. I reported this to the manager, and he said he would talk to my neighbors. A few days later, he told me that an older man lived upstairs and he usually smokes in his bedroom, but when his daughter is gone, he smokes in the front room. The manager told me that he asked them to smoke by an open window and get a filter. He said the man would not be asked to stop smoking in the apartment, because when he moved in, the complex allowed smoking. The manager said that the complex had only been nonsmoking for 5 months. This was the first I was ever informed about this. He further said that "it isn't fair" to ask the people to stop smoking. I pointed out that it wasn't exactly fair for me either, especially when I had been told it was a smoke free building. He sprayed some foam around the shared air vents which didn't help at all, and said, "well, that's all I can do." He "generously" agreed to let me out of my lease if I desired, with no penalty. I tried different things to air the apartment out, but then the neighbors would smoke it up again. When I found a place, I texted the manager to let him know I would be out in a couple of weeks. Then he told me that I would be responsible for a 30 day notice - which he had not said before. I went for my inspection. I kept a clean apartment, and tried to make it perfect, because I wanted my deposit back. I had missed cleaning the air vent in the hall, for which I was charged $15.00, and I was charged $10 for a $2.50 set of blinds (I know, because my friend priced them) that my dog broke. I did get my deposit back promptly, though. I had to pay movers to move twice, pack and unpack twice, change my address and driver's license, etc. Never did anyone apologize for the difficulties I went through. Not once.
