Yorktown is a historic community on the west bank of the York River, directly north of Newport News. Positioned right next door to Yorktown Naval Weapons Training and just up the road from a U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown is a popular place for military personnel seeking off-base living arrangements. Families love the combination of affordable rental rates, low crime, and excellent public schools.
Yorktown Battlefield is the area’s biggest claim to fame, the historic site of Cornwallis’ surrender to George Washington at the end of the Revolutionary War; the site is also part of Virginia’s Historic Triangle, which also includes the nearby Jamestown and Williamsburg settlements. Virginia Beach is only a few minutes away by car, allowing you to hop down to the coast anytime.

Been here a several months and the poor quality shows. With regular use x4 Doors have had hinges broken and/or door knobs fall off. First day on move in we noticed lots of things were broken and hastily put together and cheaply fixed. The patio screen door is broken and bent, 2 windows have a bent/broken screen and another window doesn't have a screen. There are also random holes in the walls, the doors and windows let in cold air, etc. The walls are paper thin and you can hear conversations next door. If you have someone living above you good luck as well.

Our moving experience has been great. Any issues we experienced were a reflection of previous tenants NOT the office or maintenance staff. Office staff is absolutely wonderful! We worked directly with Tahlia, we highly recommend her! She’s so kind and attentive. Maintenance responds very quickly, they are kind and friendly. Eager to ensure you’re comfortable in your apartment. This is easily the best place I’ve ever rented from. This is a wonderful community, with kind people and such a home feel! We are so happy here!

Good luck if you decide to live here. I lived here in a 3 bedroom “upgraded model” (not worth it FYI) for 6 years and watched this place go down hill fast!! Apparently our neighbors were infested with ROACHES and we had to relocate our pets while they fumigated over a 3 week period. The police are ALWAYS out there for either car break-ins or drugs, and a resident was robbed at gun point walking back from Foodlion. Management doesn’t enforce any kind of pet policies so there is dog poop everywhere and the grounds are infested with fleas. We had our pets treated with 3 different flea medications and still couldn’t get rid of them until we moved. Ridiculous fees and fines for not keeping them “updated” on your renters insurance even if it never ran out. And the final icing on the cake...after we paid our final rent and move out charges they “made a mistake” and sent us to collections for non-payment! After 6 years of NEVER being late or failing to pay one of your stupid fines you “accidentally” send me to collections so that I have to waste more of my time getting them to send a letter saying it was in error! Like I said...GOOD LUCK if you decide to live here!!

I love Grafton Station. The price is GREAT. And if you end up on the top floor, you get a vaulted cieling and really feel like your place is huge! Neighbors were peaceful and friendly. And I've NEVER had a problem with finding a parking spot. Great place and great staff. only problem was that i needed to pay for the entire last month even though i moved out in the first week of the month.

I been living here almost 8 years. The staff here is wonderful and very interactive with the community. Maintenance is good with repairs within a reasonable amount of time. The landscape is beautiful and the schools are wonderful and very close by, right along with the shopping centers.

We truly appreciate your loyal residency of nearly 8 years at Grafton Station. We love to hear how much residents enjoy living here for the location, management and service team, and beautiful surroundings. Thank you for the fabulous review!
I moved here 4 years ago, at that time this was a peaceful place to live. Rent was a bit higher than in the surrounding cities but yorktown schools are great and crime is low. Over the last 6 months conditions here have deteriorated. The police are here regulary, we have had 2 armed robberies, there are apartments with much higher occupancy than is supposed to be allowed. My children can only come outside on occasion due to profanity and the smell of marijuana from several neighbors. The rental office does not respond to phone messages or emails. It has gotten so bad that I can no longer stay here. As of today they have security vehicles riding around yet there are still people screaming in the parking lot. Do not move here if you are expecting any level of peace or security!!!

Prior to this week, I would have rated safety a lot higher. However, a resident was robbed at gunpoint IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD while walking home from the gym. We have new management and he reported it to them. They said they would send everyone an email to alert them, but they did not. This happened on President's day at 7:30pm (2/20/17) The following Thursday (2/23) the news came out to do a story on the robbery. Management came out to question their presence. On Friday (2/24), we all received a newsletter about Monday's robbery. If the news truck never came, we would have never known. In the letter we were reminded that our personal safety is our own responsibility and that of law enforcement. I am disappointed that my increase in rent does not afford new flood lights in dimly lit areas where the man was robbed. The letter stated it happened upon him entering the neighborhood, but it actually happened IN the neighborhood, by the trash cans and playground... Management was pretty decent my entire time here, until this new one. Your rent will go up when you sign on to do an additional year. We received a $30 increase. So you basically get punished for staying longer than a year. New residents will come in at the introductory price you paid when you first signed on. The location is good with restaurants, Roses and Food Lion in front of the complex. The high school zone is Grafton, which is a good school. Maintenance is great. Alan is awesome. My apartment has mold in the window sills and in the bedroom closet. The 3rd floor residents should be asked to remember that people live under them. Floors are thin. You can hear everything. Do NOT choose apartments A,D,F,G,I or L. The stairs are on your bedroom wall and you will hear everyone stomping up and down the stairs at all times of the day and night. Maybe management ought to put a sign up in the stairwells reminding residents to be considerate of their neighbors?? Overall, if you are not worried about which high school your child would attend, I would suggest finding a newer apartment complex for these ridiculous charges. Especially in light of new management since they find it okay to hide pertinent information that concerns your safety and they feel no responsibility to do anything, even though there are things they could do to improve the neighborhood with that extra $30. No need for new management to respond by asking me to contact them. I won't. How about you do your job? Our safety should matter.

Lived here since May have not had any issues other than they do maintenance at least once a month, which is good I guess, but not much notice. Staff is very friendly!!!
Love it! Safe location, great amenities. A clean and nice environment to live in.
