An hour northwest of Minneapolis on Interstate 94, Saint Cloud is a charming small city on the banks of the Mississippi River. Saint Cloud State University is central to the community, both literally and figuratively: in addition to the 15,000 students enrolled, the university is one of the city’s biggest employers, and a dedicated fan base supports the school’s hockey program (the legendary Herb Brooks coached the Huskies back in the 1980s and his name now graces the Saint Cloud State hockey arena).
Just north of campus, Downtown is a charming riverside district with a strip of restaurants, bars, galleries, and performance venues along St. Germain Street. The city is home to over ninety public parks, ensuring that you’re never more than a few blocks from trails, lakes, and relaxing green spaces. For weekend excursions into the great outdoors, Saint Cloud is only a short drive away from Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge and Mille Lacs Lake.

Property Ratings at Grand Royale Plaza
I moved into this complex in November 2020 and have not regretted it once! Kalin is AWESOME and willing to work with you in whatever way she can when you need something. She has helped me numerous times and is one of the most generous people that I've met. Any time I've needed maintenance done, it's been in a very timely manner. The location is amazing! Close enough to shopping and Hwy 94, but far enough off of the road that you feel like you're in the country! I have a dog and she loves the dog run out back and the environment in general. There's so much nature for her to explore! Don't know who the people with the negative reviews were working with, but please don't let them discourage you from renting here. I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed!
Called looking for an apartment within the next couple months. I understand nothing is available right now and you can’t show me a unit but we would like to have a plan on when and where we are moving. I would still like to meet with management and see the community space, as advertised it looks like there is a lot you could show even if you can’t show a unit. I specifically stated I would like to see the property and was denied. I was told to call back at the end of the month to see if something is available. I work in property management, we would never tell someone they can’t come see the property. I was told there would be a unit in 3 months, if I could see the property I might want to put in an application right now to move the process along quicker. When it does come available.
I lived here for 1.5 years and would have stayed if I would have found a roommate to split costs after the loss of my spouse. Staff is great and accommodating! I had a 3 bedroom with so much space and storage. My view was spectacular and the amenities are top notch. Requests for maintenance and calls to the office are answered quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend this apartment complex. There isn't one thing I can think of I would change.
I have lived here for a year now after having sold my home. I have to say it has given me peace of mind. The complex is well maintained, clean, and so quiet. Management and maintenance teams all are friendly and helpful here. I know I never have to worry about what happens if... as they will always be here to assist promptly. Residents here really take pride in the complex as well. We look out for each other and the property. The amenities here are great. Pool, hot tub, steam room, and workout rooms are well kept. I would recommend this complex to anyone I know and have.
I've lived here for 4 years and absolutely love it. The management is very polite and helpful. The buildings are clean, maintenance is prompt at repairs. Rent is reasonable and the amenities are great.
The management is incredibly rude. From the time I inquired about living here until the time I left, the management was never willing to work with me. The building itself really isn't anything that special other than the fact they they do have a decent fitness room and a pool. I would recommend looking elsewhere before settling on this place.
I wish I could have picked this apartment complex up and moved it to Minneapolis with me. Grand Royal Plaza has been by far the best experience in rental living that I've had. I've never experienced staff or management to be rude or aloof. My apartments was immaculate when i moved in I didn't need to wipe anything down. I've never encountered appliances in this great of condition. You can tell they care about the property inside and out because there is usually always someone cleaning inside or keeping the grounds outside picked up. I brought my son home to these apartments and was worried at first about the noise that can sometimes occur in close quarter living but I never heard my neighbors and when I did see a neighbor they were nothing but friendly and accommodating with a new baby. I also felt so safe and comfortable with the secure doors and Fob entry. Again, Management was nothing but accommodating. I think some people mistake management being up-front with them as rudeness however, this is a trait i admire in management as so there are no surprises when it comes to move out or any issues that one may encounter while living at Grand Royale. They also were so quick to fix any issue I had in my apartment and they were always in touch with me while showing my apartment during my move our process. I was always given a 24 hour notice if not more. Like I said i wish i could move this complex to the metro.
We went to Grand Royale Plaza today to apply for an apartment without even seeing it first, because we were SO excited about this complex! Immediately when we walked in the office employee was rude.(There are also many other reviews of the staff being extremely rude) She started off by saying that she tried to buzz us in, but we must not have known to grab the door. (It remained locked with a red light the entire time, we are not incompetent). Next, we started filling out the forms and writing checks and I asked about my large breed therapy dog. She started interrogating me, questioning whether I have a therapy dog or a companion dog as if she did not believe me. She asked irrelevant questions such as "How long have you had your dog and the dog prior to this one? Are they done with their training? (etc.)" She said that she would need my therapists information and letter before they can process anything (which I understand completely), but then she continues to say that she needs to call my therapist because most therapists would not sign off for a large breed dog for therapy because if there are any damages then THEY will have to pay for it (Again, rudely questioning me). She also said that it is disrespectful of me to bring my large breed therapy dog to a place that has a 25 pound weight limit for their dogs.... **Most therapy dogs are large breed dogs.....** She said "Because frankly, we have our dog policy because most people don't want large dogs here because they think that it is disrespectful to the dog and they don't want big dogs around their small dogs." (With a rude smirk) Lastly, before we decided just to walk out because of how rude she was, she basically said that they have many other applicants so they would most likely choose someone who does not have a large dog and will "abide by their rules". ----- I just want to say, I have an ACTUAL therapy dog and I have never felt so disrespected about this being an "issue". Definitely not a complex I want to give thousands of dollars to.
I just moved into Grand Royal Plaza apartments on July 28, 2016, I’m very happy with the quality, courtesy, and the professional trained staff of the complete management staff here. I was provided a tour of the facility, including a move-in package that explained everything you need to know in regards to the GRP property. The apartment was cleaned and ready to move-in. They assisted me with some tools to help with unloading my furniture. Grand Royal Plaza have met the high quality of living I was looking for. Great job Grand Royal apartments, I would recommend this apartment to anyone. Timothy
The entire management team has been wonderful, including the amazing way the you've treated my son. We definitely miss the amenities and the people. Thank you for everything.
The management is very rude. I have called for different reasons and been treated disrespectfully by office workers. Talked to other community members in the apartment and they agreed. Will not be renewing my lease when it is up.
This apartment complex Is beautiful.. If you like peace and quiet then this is the place for you... They are located on the outside of the city, in more of a country setting. Although they are out in their own little area, its still only a 10 minute drive to the heart of Saint Cloud. They have a beautiful indoor heated pool equipped with a steam room along with a hot tub. Attached to that is a large fitness center. Also attached is a very large community room, equipped with a pool table, a HUGE TV, kitchen and other games! As for the apartments themselves, the one I live in is gorgeous.. The cabinetry is a darker wood, the walls have a tan-ish color to them so everything ties in and looks warm and comfortable. They have an open - concept floor plan, so it does wonders for entertaining and having friends and family over. Another great feature to these apartments, is that they are pet friendly.. (with a few guidelines) So if you and furry friend are looking for a place, its also another great reason to rent here! They have a fenced in dog area in the back, so it makes it convenient if you want to relax and not have to worry so much about them running off. If you want to go for a leisure walk on a summer or fall day, they also have walking paths around to do so! Overall this place is wonderful! Take a tour and go look for yourself! You wont be disappointed!
