The community was once a small farm town – but now has expanded into a large residential area for commuters who work in Los Angeles. Students in the neighborhood are served by the Charter Oak Unified School District, but there are some private academies too.
Locals enjoy the convenient access to Interstate 210. Walnut Creek Community Regional Park is just a short drive outside of Charter Oak, plus it’s a great place to spend an afternoon doing a family-friendly hike.

Love the amenities available I can now save time and money by using the gym here. Also I love that you can see which washing machines/ dryers are available and how much time is left.

Thank you for the outstanding five-star rating! We're thrilled you're enjoying your experience at Grand Terrace.
The community has a warm and welcoming vibe, and I’ve met some wonderful neighbors. That said, I think there are a few areas that could use a little improvement. For instance, people to clean up after their loving pets and a better laundry experience. I believe addressing these could really enhance the experience for everyone. Despite these suggestions, I appreciate the efforts of the staff and the friendly atmosphere. Thank you!

Very quiet & friendly community. Apartment is bigger than I thought and has everything I need. The balcony is perfect for me and perfect area to see around for me

Community is nice but no free visitor parking and the ac unit is pretty bad other than that we like the place and the location is close to a lot of stores

Thank you for your kind review! Please give us a call if there's anything we can do to make your time here even better.
The apartment complex itself is very nice, lots of greenery, friendly neighbors, and easy access to all kinds of retail stores in the area. However, roaches have been a problem no matter how much you try to keep clean. The other issue is screaming kids (LITERALLY at the top of their lungs) from the hours of 1p-8p all over the complex. Management and Maintenance crew refuse to say anything to the adults or children. Great value, but buy ear muffs or nice headphones.
good luck trying to kill them. Even leaving the lights on there out and about. It was cool for the first 3 months. The gate is always open and the apartment was gross when I moved in. I had to clean it and there was stuff damaged. No one came to do a walk in so they better not charge me but who knows. They lock the laundry room when ever they want, yes we have a key to the bottom not to the top. So just know you may not get your clothes back after 3 days. You can try to call but no one ever get back to you. Also since covid. No one is in the office. You have people on Crack walking around at night. This place is next to 711 so just be careful!
we moved in November and we got roaches within 3 months. cannot get rid of them no matter how many times we clean and spray and set traps down. the entire complex is infested. if you have kids cool, if you dont there is literally always kids outside in the courtyard screaming their heads off. also teens at night being loud until 2 am in the courtyard. The provided washing machines here have destroyed my towels and clothes and it says no one is liable lol. I plan on moving out when my lease is up, and I've heard a lot of people complain that it's impossible to get your deposit back no matter how spotless you leave the place. so I wont ne holding my breath
Go somewhere else! Who ever wrote that positive must be management, for the reason being they tried to get me to say good things about this place! Wrong! They told my car and other peoples car during remolding but they never informed the tenants. Those people like me ended up going to this shady place that looks like a drug dealer street to get our cars. The management are clueless they are kids that dont know what customer service is! Idiots that try to argue with you instead of solving the problems. My lease is up and what a waste of money and time! Go somewhere else! Gate is always open a few times cars were broken into and they say we are going to fix the gate that's been broken for 3 years and counting! stay away from this place. I am not those people that are mad to avenge, customer service is bad1111
My wife and I moved here in September, thinking this would be a good place to live. However, the excitement quickly faded as we noticed cockroaches in our apartment THE VERY FIRST DAY WE MOVED IN. Called management to complain, and was told that maintenance would spray and get rid of the pests. However, months go by, and the cockroaches never fully went away. We just set up roach poison, and that seemed to keep them at least moving slower. Fast forward to March. I request maintenance to come and spray our apartment again as we notice more and more cockroaches in our kitchen. No response. I submitted a second request. The request was marked as completed with notes that read, "Replaced water heater." Mind you, we did not request a replacement water heater. The third time, my wife calls and leaves a message to have maintenance come and take care of the roach problem. No response. It is entirely unprofessional and unethical to ignore the requests of the tenants. Not to mention the violation of California housing laws. As soon as the lease is up, we will be OUT of here. Management is horrible, no response. They only pick up if you dial the number that lets them know you're a prospective tenant. I will be reporting them to the Los Angeles Housing Authority in the morning. Enough is enough.
Grand Terrace has gated parking but the doors are always open. They might as well take the gate off since they do not serve any purpose. Anyone can walk up to your door at any given time because the useless gate doesn't extend all around the property. The families here let their kids run around screaming and doing whatever they please. The apartment is hot and stuffy. There is hardly any air ventilation. The first day I moved in, I found some roaches scatter across my floor. The mailbox is too far away, if you get the mail at night there is a good chance u will get drenched by the sprinklers that's shooting water everywhere. there's a cemetary across the street and the first week I moved in, there was a hit and run incident with a resident's vehicle parked alongside the sidewalk.
Ive lived at Grand Terrace for over 3 years now. The apartments have been updated with a modern design and it comes with assigned parking. It is a gated community but the parking gates are usually always open. I have had a few maintenance issues but they have always been fixed within a few days. When I first moved in Management was always in the office and always picked up the phone. Lately no one has been in the office and no one has returned my phone calls. Ive stayed because the rent is super cheap and it has all the basic amenities. Note a lot of families live here so right after school and durning summer the complex is super loud with kids running around and screaming.
