A northwestern suburb of Detroit, Farmington is a small city with big opportunities and charm. Community traditions and jointly-operated programs often bring Farmington and neighboring Farmington Hills together, but Farmington is known for its downtown area in particular. Specialty shops and tasty eateries populate downtown in addition to Riley Park, which hosts an annual summer concert series called Rhytmz in Riley Park. Farmington Civic Theater is also located in Downtown Farmington, showing modern films in a historic cinema.
Should you choose to rent in Farmington, you will have the option to play arcade games at Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum, walk the trails at Shiawassee Park, visit the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, play laser tag at Zap Zone Extreme, attend the annual Founders Festival, and participate in indoor sports at Total Sports Complex.
An equal distance from Detroit and Ann Arbor, Farmington is accessible to an excellent highway system.

Property Ratings at Green Hill Apartments
I have been living in this apartment for 5 years now and every time dropping a check for the rent on the month end is a pain that cannot be expressed. No exceptions are given even of the month end falls on a long weekend. I don't understand during this digital era who would not setup an online portal for residents to utilize for rent payments and raising a maintenance request.

There are bad things about this place but I want to start with the good one: They have bigger apartments, and that’s about it. This was the only reason I chose this place. I am living here for almost 4 years and I am not happy. The HVAC is really really old. Every starting summer months when I switch on the AC, it will not work and I have to call them to fix it. The people who come to fix will not be able to fix it at once they would have to order parts and have to visit like 4-5 times, same with the Heater. My electricity bills go over $200 for my one bedroom apartment every summer due to this AC. There are only two washer and dryer in my building and since I moved it at least one washer and dryer is broken and they took 2 years to replace the washer even after reminding them multiple times. The dryer is still broken. The staff is very very rude. That’s the worst part. I needed a 2 bedroom apartment so this time I renewed my lease only for 6 months and this month I bought a new condo so I asked the leasing office what is the procedure. They told me I have to pay a month’s rent as lease breakage fee even if I give one month notice to move out. I was just casually asking multiple questions like since I would have only one month left in my lease, one month’s rent doesn’t make sense and what about prorated rent and all that stuff. The staff started raising her voice on me and yelled “ I don’t want to argue with you” . When I said why are raising your voice do you hear me yelling? She hung up. This was really rude. I feel like if they are doing some kindness on us by letting us lease here. And this is not the first time I have faced this. They cannot talk pleasantly. They are always rude. I hope management can do something about it.

I've lived here for about 3 years, split between a 2 bd and a 1 bd apartment. The good: - The location. It's centrally located between Ann Arbor and Detroit, and it's close to 275 & 96. Meijer, Kroger, and Trader Joes are all nearby, which is nice. - The side walls of the apartments are thick, and you generally can't hear the neighbors on either side of you. The bad: - Ceiling has absolutely no noise insulation whatsoever. Unless you live on the top floor, you will hear everything your upstairs neighbor does - Appliances can be very old. My furnace has to be older than me, and I'm in my 30s. In one apartment we had a small gas leak, and in the other apartment my AC went out once, and the pilot light went out multiple times. - Building is old. Insulation is subpar. You can especially tell if you're on the western side of a building in the summer, and you can feel the room heat up as the sun starts setting. The closet door in my bedroom won't shut as either the door warped, or the building has settled. - Management is subpar. I paid rent one day late, and despite the fact that I hadn't paid rent late before then, they still charged me a $50 late fee. I refused to pay because it was ridiculous, and then a month later I got hit with an eviction notice. - Removed the month to month option. This was one of the reasons why I moved here, since it's always nice to have that option if you experience a sudden job loss or something like that. Sure, you had to pay $100 more a month, but I'm willing to accept that as a tradeoff. It seems they got rid of it and now have 3 month minimum.

Went and toured these apartments, and my boyfriend and I were given the keys to the apartment and a map and sent to an apartment to look at it. After returning to the leasing office we weren’t asked too much and everything we said about the apartment was brushed off. Seemed like the leasing office knew if we didn’t want an apartment there someone else would. We were told that if we didn’t have any questions about the apartment she could show us the door. I just felt like overall they weren’t welcoming. I don’t feel like it was worth my drive.

I have lived in Green Hill apartments for about 2 years now. Maintenance is always slow, including emergency maintenance. We had no hot water since yesterday afternoon and after several calls, we are told that it will be fixed tomorrow morning with no ETA. No hot water in this weather is terrible and maintenance people didn't care much. We are expected to drop rent checks by the 3rd of each month and once I dropped it on the 4th due to it being a weekend (3rd was a Saturday). I was sent a notice with late fees. I called corporate office and they made it a big deal, blah, blah. so, what its a weekend? I have lived in places where they accept rents until 5th of every month. Leasing office people aren't very friendly either. Very old & run down apartment buildings, ceiling creeks. Overall, this place is not renter friendly and I wouldn't recommend

Ceilings creak all the time very loud. The other tenants in the building smoke cigarettes they ALLOW smoking in the building even if you have kids and the smell comes into your apartment. Management doesn't care and gives you attitude if you bring any kind of fix or complaint to them
Pro: Green Hill is a large property with bike trails and play ground for children. There is also a public sports center right next to it. My apartment has a huge glass door in the living room and a huge window in the bedroom. Outside the glass is a breath taking pond view, with ducks and gooses wandering and swimming. I also saw people fishing there. If you have a family with young kids, or if you are an outdoor maniac, this is the place for you. Con: The sound proof can certainly be better. Every morning I woke up with a tiny earth quake and a series of crackings of the ceiling, which was caused by my neighbor rolling off the bed. I could also hear my neighbors talking and even the ding when they received an email. Honestly, they are NOT making noises. However I could still hear many details of their life and I am sure they could hear mine. The lacking of privacy is the primary reason that I moved out.
Have never been happier with an apartment or previous community! I knew I had to live here because of the openess & size of the units. I don't want for anything. Buildings are spaced out so we don't stare into someone else's apartment. Snow removal is quick. Neighbors are friendly & haven't had any noise issues. Staff is always friendly & helpful. I also love the spacious, green complex and the neighboring homes. I often use the fitness trail and walk to the sports park behind the apartments. I didn't have any maintenance requests for many months and when we did it was addressed quickly and with no trouble. We don't plan to leave till we buy a house, because there will not be another apt that beats ours & the price!!
THE GOOD: Grounds are absolutely beautiful, and there are some great paths to go for walks/runs. The maintenance/office staff is on point, helpful and fast. We had to make a call and they were there to fix it the next day, and then while they were there did some other stuff as well. The units and equipment are in good condition, and they are renovating/improving buildings and common areas regularly. Great location, downtown Farmington is 5 mins away. For the price, this place is an absolute steal. THE OKAY: The units are not new, but renovations are happening slowly. There are now sidewalks along the road, so often people will be in the street. There are no lines in the open parking areas, so it could be more efficient. I have always been able to park in my units lot, but they do get almost full.

Don't live here. I am an actual renter who has been here for 1 year. The hallways are so dirty, lots of wrappers and trash dropped by neighbors which is not taken care of for weeks. Hallway lightbulbs are burnt out all the time so we are walking the stairs in the dark often. Infestation of spiders and more spiders, they are huge. I had maintenance spray twice and also sprayed by myself because all the windows are outdated and you can actually see them crawling in and out of the window pane. I've never lived in a place with so many spiders, I see at least 3 big ones every day. Mail has gone missing, it's gotten to the point where I have had to call the post master and complain so I ended up changing my mailing address to a family members house. Front end washing machines filled with mold, they told me I have to leave the door open when not in use and clean with bleach once a month... Who has time for that? Can't hang pictures very well because the drywall crumbles when you put a nail/ photo hanger in. Police show up every other day or twice a week to crack down on horrible neighbors, the ambulance was here twice because some guy tried committing sueside. The parking lot fills up quick and it's hard to find a spot. Seems like our neighbors are low income because they have multiple families living in one apartment and all their vehicles take up the parking. You can hear the renters above you and their every step. Oh the "nature trails" only go 300 feet before they stop and then start up again 1/4 mile somewhere else so you can't go for a long walk... Also no sidewalks so there are always people walking in the street and it is crazy to think they could get hit very easily. Rent goes up $100 more a month if you stay over a year. Don't waste your time or money moving in here. There are other places far better and pretty much in the same area.

The Green Hill apartments are spacious and of pretty good quality all around. They have been making several improvements lately, like new doors, staircase banisters, common area carpet, and more. The cost jumped recently, more than it should have, but it's still pretty decent for the area. There was also a fire a year ago I my bldg that required all of us to move, and the employees made sure we were all very well taken care of during a very stressful time. They moved me into a new apt in the complex within a week! They also have the best pet policy anywhere ($200 dep for one, $300 for 2 and NO pet rent).

This is the first apartment I have ever lived in and I am happy I picked it to be the first one! I love that I have private entry and our own washer and dryer in the apartment. Plus, it is huge! We are located in an area were there are lots of restaurants and things to do. One of my favorite things about the complex is the nice pool and fitness trails!
