North Grand Rapids is the sprawling sector north of central Grand Rapids along Interstate 96. Although this portion of the city offers a suburban feel, there are abundant amenities within the area. State Route 37, also known as Alpine Avenue, is lined with restaurants, supermarkets, retailers, and local businesses. Along this route you’ll also find Wahfield Park, a spacious area with playgrounds, open fields, and miles of nature trails. Other outdoor amenities in this wooded community include Scott Lake Golf and Practice Center and Dwight Lydell Park, located near the Grand River and popular local restaurants and bars.
Although residents appreciate the small-town charm and peaceful atmosphere in North Grand Rapids, they are equally appreciative of the area’s proximity to Downtown Grand Rapids. From historic sites and well-known museums to riverfront greenways and abundant local hotspots for dining, drinking, and shopping, Downtown Grand Rapids is a buzzing neighborhood.

Property Ratings at Green Ridge Apartments
The apartments are spacious, but maintenance takes forever and appliances were really old, drier would take 2-3 cycles to dry clothes, it took them 6 months to repair my second bathroom since they didn’t feel it was critical enough since it was a 2 bed 2 bath, they refused to fix my heater fast since it was early summer and as per them 60 degrees didn’t warrant the need for the heater to be working. My carpet was 6 years old and fully worn out but they refused to change it even after multiple requests from me. When I took the apartment the building was a smoke free building but they changed the policy and made smoking allowed which made it difficult more to sit in my patio without becoming a passive smoker. They don’t care about the quality of service all they care about is making maximum money with the least investment, they have not made any significant improvements to the apartment in the 10 years that I lived there.

I lived here for about a year and a half in an apartment and then moved into a different building still at the same complex. The process of that was a little difficult with management not being fully communicative. I had to call multiple times to get things figured out. However, I was able to move into the new place. They give you only about 2 days to officially move from the old apartment to the new. Which is not enough time. The primary issue was the deposit. Which I have not received and it has been almost the 30 day mark. They had stated that they send out the deposit after the 30 days. They push the deposit money out far to the very last minute. That's something to look out for. Other than that, the complex it very clean and I feel safe walking around even in the night time. Maintenance is also on top of things as well. Which is a huge plus in case something happens.
I am so glad I moved to Green Ridge Apartments. I had a wonderful experience from the first tour, to move in day. I will and have reccomend Green Ridge. My apartment is spacious and quiet and my neighbors are great. I enjoy coming home. ??
Property Manager at Green Ridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for sharing how wonderful your move-in process was! We sincerely appreciate the five-star review and glowing recommendation of our community. Here's to many more wonderful years with us and, as always, please let us know if we can ever be of assistance with questions or concerns. Thank you!
We have always been good residents. Never missed a payment. Never too loud. Our apartment flooded our first week here due to faulty plumbing and it took weeks (and multiple phone calls) for maintenance to clean up the mess. It takes weeks to get a response, but it only takes 15 minutes for someone from the office to show up because you lay something outside to dry out. You can live in the apartment, but you can't take advantage of the yard. And you can't be treated like an adult in your home.
Recently me and my husband applied and we were lied to about credit and everything because we told the staff that was helping us that we don’t have any credit because it’s our first place and we don’t have any credit cards or anything so how would they go about that and they said it wouldn’t be a problem and we applied and paid our money and they denied us shortly after.
Would leave zero stars if possible. Make sure you get every single verbal agreement in writing! I had a verbal agreement with Tim B. at the regional office and he decided to go back on his word. Also I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with Jon the community manager in the office as you will never get to say a word in a conversation that you have with him, he WILL interrupt you and belittle you multiple times as he did to me. He is very unwilling to any side other than his own in a disagreement. Long story short I will never being staying at another Edward Rose managed facility.
We have been here two months and can't I can't wait until our contract is up. It is to noisy. The lady up stairs walks like a elephant. They all slam there doors. Not quite enough. Love the apartment. And the grounds. But can't get any sleep. Jennie Mikita
I love my apartment. My only complaint would be that sometimes the internet speed is REALLY slow, but this doesn't happen too frequently and I live with two other roommates. The actual rooms are nice and the appliances are good. I would recommend these apartments to a friend.
Wingate apartments may be on the more expensive side as far as apartments go but its worth EVERY penny! My husband and i (and baby on the way :)) have a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with a dishwasher and laundry machine and dryer in our apartment. There is SO MUCH room in this apartment. The bedrooms, both closets and both bathrooms are VERY spacious, its never crowded! We have a nice veiw of our own personal pond and all thr ducks and geese that decide to make the pond their home! The maintenance workers are quick and polite! And the pool we have is ALWAYS super clean and never too crowded! Were also very close to all things shopping and food!!! Everyone is always so polite and quiet! I wish we could live here until we can get a house! But unfortunatly with a baby on the way we want to try and cut costs :.( well be sad to leave.
The area is quiet and safe, The community has a pool and washer and dryers in the unit, water is included and the appliances dont hurt the electric bill too badly, Cons- Rent is higher than most places. $690 for a one bedroom The company that owns the apartment has a monopoly on internet and cable. If you want to get it you have to get it through them. The internet is metered, slow, and overpriced and the cable is expensive. The company blocks out other companies like comcast and AT&T so there are no other options for internet and cable.
I've lived in 2 different Greenridge units for the past 3 years. Greenridge is conveniently located near a lot of shopping and restaurants. Any maintenance request was always handled quickly without any issue. All units have A/C and in unit laundry, which was the main reason I chose to live here. Pretty much I wouldn't mind staying here if it wasn't for the constant rent increases and terrible internet/cable. If you want to stay on a month to month agreement because you eventually want to move out of an apartment, they send a note about every other month informing you that rent is going up again. If you bring this up with anyone in the office they just will tell you tough luck for being on a month to month. For internet you are only given the option to go through some obscure ISP that only services apartment complexes. They charge $50 a month for shotty 12mbps down. They don't really even have customer service, just a support number. Stay here if you know exactly how long you will be in an apartment.
We are very happy with our apartment here at Green Ridge. The apartment was perfectly clean when we arrived and the staff very inviting and friendly. Maintenance has been great so far with any issues that we have encountered. The pool is well taken care of and is always clean. The only complaint we have is that the fountains in the ponds are extremely loud (so much so that they will wake us up when they start in the morning if our windows are open.. and we need to close our windows to watch T.V.) Overall, it is a great apartment complex!
I was worried that the walls would be thin. However, I need to press my ear to the wall just to hear noise. Its so quiet that its a bit lonely living by myself. The only time i hear people close by are people's kids that walk around outside. Also, Everyone keeps to themselves as well, so no nosey people looking around. The internet connection is pretty good for 12Mpbs speed. Lastly, if you live on first floor you barely need the A/C turned on. I haven't experienced a winter yet, but I hope for the best.
