Sitting on the eastern edge of the city, the Cuernavaca neighborhood of Mountain View, California, borders the neighboring town of Sunnyvale. The neighborhood's prime location in the Bay Area makes it highly desirable. San Jose sits 15 miles to the southeast and Downtown San Francisco lies 40 miles northwest.
The neighborhood is known for its variety of apartments for rent, all offering a slightly different living arrangement from the detached homes which occupy many of the surrounding neighborhoods. Largely residential, the neighborhood maintains a tranquility that residents appreciate. Countless restaurants, bars, and shopping centers are well within reach, but a Cuernavaca home provides a nice enclave to retreat to at the end of the day.

Property Ratings at Greendale Apartments - Fully Renovated
Lived in Greendale for 15 months before and during the pandemic. The pros: + Good location with good schools. + On site management is responsive and polite. Most issues will get a response and easy fixes addressed quickly. Technicians and employees are really nice and kind. + Never experienced issues with theft or break in. + There was ton of extra parking - we actually never parked on our assigned spot as there was always available parking closer to our unit. + You get ton of storage in your assigned parking spot. + The complex is nice and clean. The cons: - It was a bit pricey for what you get. Specially as amenities are essentially closed during the pandemic. - I reported an issue with rats as I took a picture of a big one going inside the patio of one of the ground floor units. Management replied but never really followed up nor ever heard of any fumigation plans letting residents know. I would not recommend living on a ground floor unit there. - They seem to value bringing new tenants more over current tenants. The owners didn't want to review our rent until very close to the end of our initial lease term. When they decided to do so they offered a terrible rate compared to that of the market. No point in even negotiating. If you are looking for a long term place, Greendale might cost you more when renewing. - We have friends who have been long term tenants at Greendale that due to the local law changes at some point secured a low rent there.Greendale is doing the minimum to keep the unit they live in livable. Our friends have made several requests to change or replace the old carpets for example (at their own expense) but Greendale has refused. Likely this is a tactic to put pressure on then to move, so they can renovate the unit and charge a higher price - this how Greendale does business. - The cost of shared utilities of the common areas is very expensive. We paid for a family of 3 between $170-$190 every month. Add that to your monthly rent. - When we moved out we got charged for some blinds replacements that were damaged. But after reviewing the receipts Greendale decided to replace other blinds anyway due to regular wear and tear. So this charge seemed very tacky in my personal opinion. We pushed back but Greendale insisted and we decided to let it go. It was a missed opportunity to leave us with a better impression of them. Overall I hope this review helps other potential tenants to get context as to what they might experience at Greendale
The apartment complex is well run and very nice. Unfortunately I've been robbed twice on two separate occasions at Greendale in less than 1 yr. Each theft occurred within our personal premise which is very disappointing so I felt compelled to leave this review. I have also notified local police regarding the theft and have been informed it is rather common here. I've been a resident at Greendale for over a year and will begin looking elsewhere to a place where our property feels safe and secured (being robbed and filing insurance claims are no fun). Anyway, it is unfortunate these thefts occurred otherwise the apartment complex, and management team, notably Naida, are wonderful.
Property Manager at Greendale Apartments - Fully Renovated, Responded To This Review
Hi Mike Thank you for your comments. It is my understanding that items were taken from your storage unit in the carport and, on a separate occasion, from your patio. I regret that having been a victim of a crime at our community you feel you must find another place to live. While this type of incident is, of course, unacceptable, it is by no means a reflection of our community. Greendale has traditionally been a low-crime community, and our standard practice of frequent courtesy patrols; ensuring that our community is well-lit; as well as other measures, all contribute to discouraging crime at our community. Incidents such as the ones that happened to you are not limited to our community, but are happening throughout Mountain View and other cities, including areas where they had not occurred before. It is regrettable that the changing times now require a higher level of vigilance from all of us. Greendale continues to offer a great location, beautiful apartments and excellent amenities, and Naida and the rest of the team remain committed to our residents and to making Greendale a great place to live.
