Property Ratings at Grid District - 50 Franklin
Bancroft on the Grid location: Lobby smells, elevators smell, there’s basically always one out of order elevator once a week and NONE of the elevator inspections are up to date. I swear only 3 of the dryers actually dry the clothes but you still have to pay extra for it to work. All the washers REEK of mildew and mold and are covered in residue. They were never fixed or cleaned during the year I lived there. I paid roughly $15-20 a week for two people’s clothes… if you tour the place ACTUALLY look at the laundry room and how disgusting the washers are. In the summer there’s a permanent smell of dog poop everywhere because they have a very tiny spot of sand for dog owners to take their dogs, but no one every picks it up. Yes the owners should pick up after their dogs, but it gets so bad and they almost never do anything about it, even though there are apartment windows directly above it. I saw a worker cleaning it ONE time in the year i’ve been here. Nice location, but I would never recommend it to anyone, and if I could go back in time I would have gone for a place that was cheaper, had more space and wasn’t a mega-landlord/property management company even if it meant being farther from downtown.
I lived on the 10th Floor, overlooking the city and polar park. I absolutely loved living here and wish I could have bought my apartment. Purchasing a home was the only reason I left. Any issues I had were swiftly addressed and resolved. And the location was primo! Walked everywhere. Tons of bars, restaurants, DCU center, Polar Park, train station and other things to do all within a 5 or 10min walk
The elevators break on their Main st building, 3 elevators lucky if 1 is working, staff may be the rudest I have ever met or worked with! Especially maintainer staff, customer service starts with employees.
The pipes in my my ceiling make rattling and banging noises louder than a passing fire truck seemingly any time someone in another apartment turns their water on. Over a week and not a single bit of on movement on my maintenance request. I haven't gotten a full night's sleep since I moved in because of the noise. Trying to sit on my couch in the evenings is unbearable with the sound of a herd of elephants stomping around in my ceiling because of the pipes. 2/3 elevators don't work and the one remaining elevator only barely works. When I asked about parking before signing my lease, I was informed of the steep price and only after signing my lease was told there was no availability and had to approach a 3rd party garage myself. The counter top burners in my kitchen can't even bring a pot of water to boil.
Constanly broken doors leave a lot of security concerns, elevators are normally 2/3 are broken. The management will blame everything you dont like about the way they do business on you. If you like being disrespected living in a place of disrepair and over charges then you might actually enjoy it here. But seriously do not even waste your time viewing or appling the owners do not care about you or your family. Theyll gladly take more money though.
DONT LIVE HERE UNLESS YOU LOVE SMELLING LIKE SMOKE, NOT BEING ABLE TO SHOWER AND HAVING A BROKEN FRIDGE. I’ve never written a review on anything in my life. The apartment is decent. It looks new, there’s a front desk and a nice lobby and a gym. All great. WHAT IS TERRIBLE I moved in three months ago, since then my fridge broke (right after I went grocery shopping and lost all my food) it took them a week A WEEK to even acknowledge I put in a maintenance request. And was only acknowledged after calling MULTIPLE TIMES . Around the same time (a month or so after move in) MY WATER TEMP was unbearable. The water temp became so extreme I can’t even stand under the water. This problem is still not resolved after an entire month and three maintanence request and multiple phone calls. As the weather got warmer my neighbors smoke has seeped into my unit. The smell is so overbearing it makes me gag. My clothes and linens reek. There is no smoking/ non smoking units it’s all random. When reaching out about the smell I was told to “put electric tape over any ventilation”. Essentially if you don’t like second hand smoke and smelling like it when you haven’t smoked a day in your life. Don’t live here. Don’t live here if you need appliances that work. And don’t live here if you work a dirty job and want to take a decent shower.
I've lived here for a little over 6 months and have nothing but good vibes! The restaurants on the Grid offer 20% off for residents. The Beer Garden has amazing bands during the weekend and the Brew has the best caramel brewchinnos. My apartment overlooks Worcester commons, so I have an amazing view, staff in office are very helpful, utilities are not to expensive. Overall, I've enjoyed living here!
If you like the smell of crap this is the place for you. Dog go to the bathroom in the building. Nothing is ever clean. For the love of God don’t ever have a maintenance problem because they will send someone but never actually come out and probably Fix it. My toilet has been broken for months and I have to go to the lobby to use the restroom. Completely poorly run building. Don’t be fooled by the discounts they give and the pretty lobby things never actually probably work.
Don't be fooled by the "upgrades". The main building at 50 Franklin has no air conditioning in the lobby or gym. The so called secure buildings constantly have the doors propped or the doors unlocked. They also rent to airbnb so you can never tell who belongs in your building. What's the point of them doing a background check when you apply to live here? The roofs leak during heavy rain - they patch the hallway walls, but never fix the problem. I think it's great that they allow cats & dogs, but people do not pickup after their dogs so there is a heavy odor outside in the summer months. Leasing office has had massive turnover - none of the staff is the same from a year ago. Parking costs are sky-high - the garage is dirty, the doors are finicky (i got stuck inside once). Fire alarms go off very frequently. There are interior doors that go into one of the apartment buildings - anyone can get in once you are in the garage. Overall it's not worth the money - I won't be renewing my lease later this fall.
Strong community, great apartments, right downtown. Doorbell also makes the building so fun and welcoming!!
Best community in Worcester! Great apartments and a really awesome community. They have this company Doorbell that builds the resident community through and app and awesome events.
Beware of anything the leasing and management office says because they will turn around and revoke it or deny they said it and you will be stuck without a place to live unless you do what they want. The buildings and apartments are cheaply designed with overflowing plumping and cabinets falling apart. Also it is next to the public library where there are many unsavory characters. I do not feel safe as a woman walking around the neighborhood at night.
You'll be paying too much to live with the lowest class in Worcester. If you order a package and you work business hours forget it. You'll have to wait till the weekend to retrieve it as the office works 830 to 5. Oh and the staff they are some of the most unsophisticated individuals I have met. I can't wait till my lease is up to get out of here. Also the gym sucks.
A review(also venting) of the Bancroft Commons, the former hotel Not to be confused with the buildings across the street which are also associated with Bancroft Commons but look nicer. Cons: 1. First of all the walls are thin, if your neighbor speaks above a whisper you will hear them. Hope your not stuck with neighbors with domestic disputes that occur at all hours of the night. Your window wont do much for the noise coming from the streets. There are some idiots who think its fine to leave their stereo pump-in at 2 in the morning. (ear plugs are recommended if your coming from the suburbs). 2. They say you have a gym, and the photos posted on website really do look nice but thats not your gym. The gym that you will be going to looks dingy and theres hardly any machines that work. Currently there is 1 bicycle, 1 elliptical, and 5 treadmills but only 1 treadmill works. The other 4 are … props we assume. Barbell weights are decent. 3. They also advertise free wifi, HA, sure its free when it works and thats less than half the week. If the wifi does works be sure to be ready for speeds to occasionally drop to dial up status. If you're a student and need to get some work down at home, consider getting your own Internet. 4. Plenty of the attendants have pets, and half of them shouldn't. You'll see an uncleaned accidents in the stairwell, sidewalks leading to the building, and from what heard in the elevator. 5. And let me tell you now, you better be ready to jump out of bed in the middle of the night because the fire alarm WILL go off for no apparent reason for a good hour. This happens every other month or sooner, again ear plugs are strongly recommended. Pros: No observable rodent/insect issues. Bathrooms and closets are roomy. Plenty of hot water. There is a revamped theater a block away. You're a 5 min walk from the train station where you can make a trip to Boston, the city you wish you could afford. The heater works really well. You'll be a block away from the library where the wifi actually works. Staff: They're cool. Apparently it's under new management and they claim to be fixing up the place, but the work seems to be slow.
My apartment was all redone right before I moved in, with new paint and cleaned carpets, no bad smell at all. After reading very bad reviews I did not think I would move in here at all. It was on my apt hunting list as a last resort and I ended up liking this place best ( it was also closer to my price range). Staff in the leasing office is very friendly and helpful. Elevators haven't broken down at all while living here so far, and only once has the fire alarm gone off. I never hear my neighbors at all, not even their tvs (only when I walk down the hall past their doors, but not when I'm in my own apartment). Laundry room is nice with many easy to use modern-ish machines (not coin operated, it has a laundry card reader). The lobby is very nice looking with chandeliers and is nice for guests to see when they come visit. Security is at the front desk every night. (I am not sure if they are there during the day). So far, I highly reccomend. All the bad reviews on yelp seem to be old and it seems the problems posted, have been fixed.
basicaly paying to much rent for A poor quality apartment ext.
