Property Ratings at Groton Towers
While I really wanted to rent an apartment here, it was near IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of management. For two weeks, I tried emailing and calling to no avail to check on the status of my application. All I got was radio silence. Even when I had my virtual tour, the staff showed up late. After deciding to go with another apartment complex, which approved my application within a day, they approved me three weeks later! Unacceptable in my book.
Property Manager at Groton Towers, Responded To This Review
Hi, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will use your comments to refine our efforts to ensure this issue does not happen again.
Read carefully before signing any paperwork. They will tell you it is "standard", it is not. Office does not seem to want to contact residents for important matters (even though they have all contact info), yet any late notifications are automatically in the managements favor, per the lease. Management was ok years ago, but has fallen far. Maintenance is the only good thing about this place, no complaints there. Overpriced in the area for subpar offerings and shady management. Oh, and you need to pay almost $5 a load for laundry too.

We have lived here for over 22 yrs seen management come and go..So to start off with karen she is the best office manager this building has ever had she always has time to listen to any thing I have to say..and im a New Yorker and we always have a lot to say :) George & Gladys are a wonderful team they always go beyond their job... my husband is disabled so I have a lot to do the other day I had alot of stuff to take to the dumpster and George just pick it up and took it for me that's just his nature ...As for living here I would recommend it highly..if there's a noise issue ill go to Karen and she deals with it.I can't say anything bad about Groton Tower its been my home for over 22yrs and im very happy here.
I moved in here last year when I was new to the area. The location of this apartment is close to all the major amenities around the Groton area. Parking was never a problem even when I got off work around 7 or 8pm. The best part of this apartment is the amazing management team, which is incredibly hard to find in an apartment complex today. The few minor issues that I did have with my place, were immediately fixed that day, and they were fixed right. Noise was never a problem. Whenever I had a question, the building manager Karen would always be quick to answer and was extremely helpful and insightful. The building itself is older, but very well maintained. When you get inside you would never guess how old the building actually is. My studio is freshly painted with new carpets. Another convenience was the multiple washers and dryers on each floor, that actually washed and dried in one run. Overall, if I wasn't moving out of state, I would rate this 5/5 and renew my lease if I could. They could not have made it a more enjoyable experience.
Lived here 4 years. The location is good for easy access to I-95 and downtown Groton. I visited several places when moving to the area, chose it for good price / sq ft, good condition, and open floor plan. Have had very few maintenance issues and those have been taken care of with a simple phone call. The way the buildings are built and since it's free for residents to run the heat, it always tends to be warm inside from fall through spring. In the summer, you can be comfortable (in a 1BR) for up to ~ $100 extra / mo of AC use. Parking is never a problem; the spaces right against the buildings commonly fill up, but then you can just park in the lower levels of parking. Noise is overall good. You can hear dogs barking, if there's a wild party, if someone's really got their speakers cranked, and occasionally there's a creaking sound from the building, but you can't hear too much normally- I've certainly lived in noisier places.
I lived at Groton Towers for two years and an excellent experience while living there. The quality of the apartments is comparable with those of higher priced apartment complexes, and it includes heat and hot water which affords you extra savings. The staff are also very kind and respond quickly to any maintenance or service issue. The internal common areas are kept very neat, and the exterior is cleaned year round, with prompt snow removal in the winter. The location is convenient as you are within a mile of the on-ramps to I95 N or S, and it is close to the local Walmart and Stop & Shop. Though I never tried the pool, on the occasions I walked by it, it always looked clean and well kept. There is also small gym in the complex which is very convenient and never crowded (in fact, every time I used it, there was at most one other person in there). The building also has a elevator which makes moving in much easier than other apartment complexes. I would definitely recommend Groton Towers to anyone looking for a great quality apartment at an affordable rate.
Like everything this is what you make it we have found both the management and maintenance to be very accommodating and very pleasant. The building is very well taken care of both inside and out. the pool is exceptional and very well located.
