The Grove Apartments

This place is for you!! The smoking policy is not enforced. If cigarette smoke makes you sick, this is not the place for you. Add in the vandalism in the neighborhood, 1 star.

We are an active-duty Air Force family that received orders to the Biloxi area. Like many other military families moving from to a new area from another state, we must trust online searches while looking for a new place to live. Unable to buy at this time, we looked for an apartment. Search results led us to The Grove. Online this place looked like an ideal place to live. Please don’t be fooled like we were. We tried to visit in person but were told that there were no available apartments to tour before move in. Move in day arrives. We were shocked when we walked in. The place had not been cleaned. Food was in the carpet, dirt stains in the tubs, and toothpaste in the sinks. This was just the start. Looking closer, black mold was growing in multiple places through out the apartment. Rat holes in many places. The floor in the bathroom was peeling up showing obvious water damage along with layers of past flooring. I was told when keys were picked up that one of the toilets didn’t flush and would be fixed. During the month we were there, no one ever came to fix the toilet. Smoke detectors were either missing or disconnected, never fixed even after being told that they would be. We notified the office that we were giving our 30 days’ notice to move out due to the unsafe living conditions. The manager seemed nice and wanted to come by with maintenance to attempt to make things right. They stopped by the same day. The maintenance guys were laughing, making jokes and snarky comments the entire time I was voicing my concerns to the manager. Nothing was done to repair any of the problems in the apartment. This was the absolute worst place I have ever lived. Management does not care. Maintenance is a joke! Their website is 100% false advertisement. The pictures show updated beautiful apartments. This couldn’t be further from the truth. They advertise a clean pool with a hot tub. The pool is not kept clean, and the hot tub is concreted over. I urge anyone looking to move here to keep looking and stay as far away from The Grove as possible.

I moved into this property in March 2021 and even though it was older, I really liked the location and layout of the units. Within the first day of moving in, I found fleas on the floor in my first floor unit, I did not have any pets. After alerting the property manager, it was sprayed. I did not stay in the unit and when I came back and continued vacuuming, I was still vacuuming up live fleas. I alerted the manager again and it was sprayed again, much heavier. After I returned to the unit again, I was still vacuuming up live fleas. At this time I told the property manager that I would be terminating my lease. I was less than 30 days into the lease, stayed overnight less than 5 nights and gave 30 days notice. I still was required to pay the termination fee even though the property was not suitable to rent.

I see all these negative reviews and I just think I haven’t had any problems. The people in the office are always nice. I know all my neighbors and don’t have any problems. My apartment is really nice and afford for the area. I spend hours in my garden tub. The police that are security officers help keep us safe . This actually one of only an apartment that I lived in that I felt safe and it was safe enough for my kids to play out side. The main reasoned we moved here beside the spacious apartment and the affordable rent was for popps ferry elementary school. They are amazing ! ??

The staff here are amazing! Their customer service skills are superb and truly go above and beyond to help you in any way they can. The community is well kept and is has a great location. It is located within a great school district too.

Since I moved in I have had many problems with roaches, bugs and some bugs that I couldn't even identify. You will have NOTHING but a headache if you rent here. I signed a lease to stay for 1 year and only stayed 6 months. I went out of town for a week and came back to an entire RAT FAMILY! My belongings were covered in rat droppings and my sofa was destroyed by them eating under the cushion and through the bottom of both couches. I complained to management and they told me that I would have to wait until Monday because I told them too late in the afternoon (I told them on a Friday afternoon). On Monday, pest control came by and they laid a few sticky traps. The droppings were in my room, on the kitchen counter tops and in the closets. The sticky traps did not work and I told the office. They said they would send pest control back out. Pest control laid some traps that did not work as well. I am a clean person. I did not leave any food or trash out and my dishes were washed. This was not my fault and when I broke my lease because I couldn't live with the mice they still charged me to end the lease plus I continued to pay rent hoping they would do something about the mice and I could go back home. The management was horrible and only compensated me a few hundred dollars for my sofa that was applied to the feeds they charged me so no money really went for me to be compensated. DO NOT MOVE HERE. 2018!!

I was not told about the termite infestation when I moved in! They come out in the summer I’m assuming. I moved in mid summer of last year(2017) and didn’t have an issue. The neighbor across the way warned my husband and I about this(they moved)! This is horrible. I’m sitting on my couch and and termite falls on my chest.. like something out of a movie. Our lease is up. Good bye ????

Where do I even start....Lived here for 5 years. When I moved in it was great and very clean. In the last year or two its been disgusting. Duck/dog poop everywhere to the point its caked in the breezeway. They refuse to clean. Pool is filled with unsupervised kids that don't live here. "Hot tub" never has worked. Office never answers phone calls. I had a hole in my ceiling for close to six months so when it rained outside it also rained in my house. Been robbed twice... three times if you include my mail that was stolen last week. Once was in broad daylight. Don't try and call corporate cause they don't care. Ive noticed they only bring potential tenants to the one clean building so watch out for that. Also, Im looking at cigarette butts for grass.

I have lived at Bentley Place for nearly a year and a half. My family and I first moved into a two bed two bath, and we were on the 3rd floor. We were able to move into this unit on quick notice so that was great. My buddy then moved in with us and we were able to move to a three bedroom fairly easily. The management was great and then they got bought out.. Some of the new people aren't the greatest but I still love Danielle! She is now the main lady here! Only complaint would be the maintenance people.. they always seem disgruntled and in a bad mood. I would definitely recommend a friend here. The rent is good for what you get and the people are relatively quite.

Very nice apartment complex. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Has pool and fitness room. Has 2 duck ponds. Walking distance to Edgewater Mall and beach.

These apartments look good on the outside... But the Staff is horrible and the inside is not much better.. They are totally overpriced lived here for almost a year now and the gate was "broken until recently" although was paying to live in a gated community. The walls and ceiling are so thin you can hear every cough and movement that a neighbor makes.... The drainage around the property is horrible and overtime it rain there are giant pools of water that form right next to the buildings..... My fireplace did not work when i moved in and asked the management to fix it that was 9 months ago and my fireplace still doesn't work..... I could go on an on but not enough space or time to.... I would not recommend these to anyone....

My home at Bentley Place Apartments started out rocky. I had a few issues with bugs when I first came. However, the manager at Bentley place was very helpful. She took care of it right away. Every since then I have not had any problems. The apartment is nice and cozy. The staff is super friendly. I would recommend anybody I know to come and stay here.

Everything is clean and new. Nice sized fenced dog park. When something needs to be repaired it is done the same day it's reported. I'm glad we found this apartment.

The office personal were new but experienced in handling people. Megan made my day when she said to come on down and inspect. We drove from Chicago and were very happy with the look of the place it was very much like the web page. I look forward to making this my new home.

Poorly managed by corporate. Corporate managers are frequently here and make decisions based on how cheap things can be fixed. The pool is currently unusable and usually filthy. The apartments are in need of work and most of the appliances are old, wore out and in need of replacement. When they are replaced they are replaced with inferior products. The entire staff has been changed out three times in less than a year because corporate blames them for their failures. They need to spend money today to repair there image and to see a profit in the future. Simply poorly managed by corporate leadership.

Buyer beware. They will tell you how wonderful this place is and leave you pulling your hair out. The office staff is insane and mismanages rental payments. Losing payments and placing it under the wrong accounts or take forever to cash checks. They close maint. requests without ever repairing the issue, no matter how many times you send a request. You have to make an appointment to be there to make sure they fix it or flag down a maint. guy and beg him to come in an do the repairs. The walls and floors are paper thin. I can hear the dogs in the apartment above me running across the floor all day and night. The floor creeks and gives in certain places in my own space. I can hear my neighbors conversations and the music they play echoing throughout my entire apartment. I haven't had a peaceful nights sleep since I moved here. Beware of your neighbors renting 1br apartments and having 5-6 people living in it. The management knows this is happening and has not done anything about it. I am tired of strange people hanging out on my steps, drinking and smoking, and eyeballing my every move as if I don't belong there. When my lease is up in 3 months I am on the first thing smoking out of here.
