Curved along Shilshole Bay, Ballard is one of Seattle’s trendiest neighborhoods. Settled in the early 1800s, Ballard has its own identity – historic warehouses converted into lofts, shops, and breweries, the must-see Ballard Locks (if it’s salmon season, be sure to head down the fish ladder and watch the salmon trying to swim against the current through glass panels), and Golden Gardens Park.
Considered one of Seattle’s best parks, Golden Gardens park has it all – amazing views of the Olympic Mountains, beautiful beaches, hiking trails, fishing and boating areas, and even an off-leash dog park. Renting in Ballard also puts you near one of Seattle’s best farmers markets, the Ballard Farmers Market. The market is open year-round and often features live music.
Explore Ballard’s history at the Nordic Heritage Museum. The museum features permanent exhibitions that focus on the area’s Nordic roots, along with a variety of temporary exhibits.

Property Ratings at The Grove Ballard
The Grove is a great new apartment complex in Ballard with reasonable monthly rent prices, multiple unit arrangements, and a couple lease-length options. Although the walls are somewhat thin, other amenities, such as in-unit washer & dryer and full kitchen, make the small space more comfortable. The building is highly secured in a nice residential area, while also being very close to many great local businesses, grocery stores, and downtown Ballard. There is also a sizable community rooftop to be enjoyed.
The grove is wonderful for what it is! Obviously you are getting a small studio in a building with no amenities, but if you know that coming in and don’t expect anything extra then it is quite lovely. Everything Is clean and new. Fairly good insulation so you don’t hear your neighbors. All the appliances are new and nice. Overall it’s a great place if you don’t care about all the bells and whistles that come with more expensive apartments. Would definitely recommend living here.
I have been living at The Grove for a year and just re-signed for another year! It is a very clean and modern apartment building that is well built. I rarely, if ever, hear any noise from other tenants and everyone I have interacted with from the staff to other tenants has been extremely nice! I would highly recommend The Grove if you are looking in the Ballard area!
This building is fairly new, the lobby, elevators, and halls are kept clean and tidy. The actual apartments are really nice. They have a modern feel. I love the in unit washer/dryer (and that they are two separate machines, not one of the combos). The bathroom is big considering the size of the apartment. It is walking distance to breweries, coffee shops, restaurants, and a produce store. Downsides are the lack of AC. It wold get up to 90 in my place during the summer. The large windows are beautiful but create a greenhouse effect. Also, the minimal street parking could be a real pain sometimes.
Though I have only lived at the Grove for a short time, I have really enjoyed my experience so far! The location is great. I love that the apartments are walking distance from lots of fun restaurants and shops in Ballard. I especially appreciate the fact that the studios have a full kitchen and in-unit washer/dryers, something that is weirdly hard to come by for studios in Seattle. The only less ideal aspects of these apartments are the street parking (though you can usually find a spot near-ish by) and the lack of AC (it can get quite hot in the summer). Overall, I have really enjoyed living here.
The Grove was the first building I looked at when I was moving here to Seattle - and the last. I fell in love with the cute little studio with brand new appliances and a huge tub. It’s within walking distance of the bars and restaurants in Ballard and conveniently located on a central bus route. Management is great and helpful and the building is always clean. It is street parking only, so sometimes you have to park a block or two away. My only real negative is that there is no air conditioning, and some of the apartments don’t have normal windows to put a window unit in. This means I frequently open my slider for a breeze, and am treated to the not-so-pleasant aroma of my neighbor’s skunk weed.
So far my experience at The Grove has been positive. Initially communication wasn't great as a few people were on vacation and I was going through a more detailed rental process, but after signing my lease everything has been going well. Management is responsive both to maintenance and general requests. The building itself is well kept and the communal roof is amazing. I've lived in Ballard for a while before moving in here so already loved the location! Close to busses and a wonderful local produce and coffee stand. Excited to continue living here and hope that everything stays as good as it is now!
