Listing of the Future

Recap by

Apartments.com recently conducted a Q2 renter survey receiving feedback from 45,000 renters. Insights from this survey tell us nearly every apartment shopper (94 percent) says that unit-level floorplans, pricing, availability, and amenities are critical elements of their search. In addition to the importance of unit-level detail, more than half of renters told us they plan to move this year.

This unit-level detail is available only on Apartments.com and will help your community generate even higher-quality leads that convert to leases more efficiently than ever.

Greater emphasis on individual unit details

Today, apartment seekers are searching faster and considering fewer properties. Only 2.8 communities make prospective renters final list, so it is crucial that yours is on that list.

With the Listing of the Future, we build on the robust community listings our clients build to add unit-level details that renters crave.

Going deeper in our research, we found that 82 percent of renters say location within the property is important. Is the unit close to the fitness center, the pool, parking? Are they willing to pay for that proximity?

Also, 63 percent said the view from the apartment home matters. Is yours overlooking the ocean, a lake, downtown? The trash bin next door?

The Listing of the Future takes care of all these questions and more.

People looking at apartments want to be able to envision what it’s like to live in a specific unit. While touring, they check out the refrigerator, open the drawers, walk the hallways. But you cannot really do that virtually. With our in-unit walk-through videos, we give prospective renters those details. They can see the exact location of the unit and what views come with it.

First impressions mean everything — then what?

The Listing of the Future gives a great first impression. Typically, listings show the exterior of the property or the sign as you enter. However, renters really want the inside of the individual unit — the living room, kitchen, open areas. With the Listing of the Future, they can view the unit furnished or unfurnished to get that impression. You can use four pictures within our unit level Listings of the Future. You can have the pool represented but be sure that the apartment home’s interior is the focus.

When exploring listings, prospects can easily narrow results to find the right floor plan for the tour. Then, they can request and schedule a tour of a unit with the calendar function, choosing their dates and times. With the Listing of the Future, it is so much more than simply filling out a guest card.

Apartments.com now posts high-resolution images taken of the individual unit. What really matters to renters today is that they are seeing the actual unit they would be living in.

Our floorplans are displayed in full resolution with options for a 3D rendering or the common bird’s eye view. There is the option to see the dimensions in a larger format — making it more readable — so residents can check which sized beds or couches fit within the specific unit.

From the floorplan, the prospects can click to enter into the unit level video. This gives them a great sense of space and what it is like to move about through the apartment.

Our mapping feature shows proximity to things, such as other units, the parking lot, or the pool.

By listing units and their varying rents, it helps the prospect understand why apartment units are priced that way.

Time to take action

Now you want them to act. Next, prospective renters submit a guest card including the details your onsite staff needs to know about which unit they viewed so you can meet their needs.

In the end, this will take you to new heights because the Listing of the Future assembles all of the unit and model level data into a listing like never before.
