Just northeast of the Mystic River lies Malden Center, an idyllic suburban refuge from Boston's urban hub. Bloomberg Businessweek once named Malden the "best place to raise your kids," highlighting the safe streets and renowned schools that characterize the area.
Malden Center boasts a slew of unique charms, from the historic character of its buildings to its peaceful, tree-lined boulevards. Neighborhood residents enjoy a small-town feel along with access to numerous scenic parks.
Connected to Downtown Boston by both commuter and subway routes, Malden Center proves to be a wise choice for many commuters looking for a peaceful environment to settle down in without sacrificing convenience to all that Greater Boston has to offer.

Property Ratings at Malden Square Apartments
Halstead Malden Square provides a nice, comfortable living experience right off from the MBTA Orange Line. For the rental rates, the amenities are a great value and cover anything you’d expect (with a fitness center that is much larger than those at comparable developments). Melissa and Alison, with the on-site property team, are both very friendly and helpful. They host community events regularly and seek out ways to improve tenant experience. I would recommend considering Halstead if you’re relocating to the Malden area!

I have been living at Halstead Malden since December and I love it. The building is clean. The residents are friendly. The staff are wonderful! I signed a lease mainly because of the care and attention Melissa provided. She conducted a great tour and answered all my questions. I really appreciate all the events they put together for the residents!

We are grateful and truly appreciate the time you took to leave your review. It's great to know that we were able to provide you with the highest levels of service. It makes us happy to hear that you are enjoying the event that we've been hosting and we look forward to seeing you at the next one!
I highly advise AGAINST residing at Halstead Malden Square. Please keep looking! I have so many disappointing stories explaining the disapproval of this place but I will keep my post brief. 1. Management is definitely not the best and it is hard getting in contact with them. Plus Management continuously changes. Yet it still seems like they can’t get it right. 2. They are definitely overpriced. And please don’t do a month to month lease— they will literally eat you alive in the monthly amount because they did it to me! I thought the contracted amount was a little expensive— but they made sure I knew what expensive really was. My month to month rent increased more than double the amount. 3. Even after moving out, they fabricate everything they can think of to ensure that they won’t have to pay the customer back the full prorated amount. It angers me that I even chose to stay there but I hope this review prevents others from making the same mistake I did. Just keep looking elsewhere.

The building is nice, however there are a lot of problems you notice when you start living here. The management is overloaded with work, there are two folks and they won’t respond to phone calls, even before you sign the lease. We recently had some bike stolen from the bike room. Management didn’t do anything about it, we brought our bikes back to our apartment since. The amenities don’t really work except for the gym. The building isn’t particularly noisy, but you can hear people walking in the apartment above you very clearly. Has been the case with everyone, not just louder neighbors. What I do like is the tenant living here. There is a sense of community within the building, tenants vs building management sort of scenario. The location is very nice, close to orange line and lot of grocery stores. Overall nice but expensive for what you get.
'- Cleaning is not proper inside of the whole building. - Mailroom is overloaded all the time. - 2 meeting rooms are busy all the time. - Constant problems with opening gates into the garage. - Printer on the first floor is out of service in 80% of cases. - Hard to find anybody in the leasing office.
The leasing office is a joke, no one responds to you or listens to you. Maintenance and housekeeping are the best employees.
Amenity may look good, but more often than not it is not functional, such as the Karaoke room and the locker. The Karaoke player never works when we tried to use it and the locker was down for 2+ months in 2021. Even with the functional locker now, packages are thrown all over the places. I've had lost packages multiple times. Good luck finding your packages! Management is even worse. Management change frequently. I made the deal with the prior management for renewal in March 2021, and was promised to follow up in April 2021 with the market rate in March. It never happened and the rent in the renewal offer increased 30%+. Think twice before moving in.
This is a GREAT place to live. Location is prime, just love it! The apartment is fantastic. The space distribution is great and having an outdoor space for our own use is the best of all. The management staff is very professional and makes you feel that you belong to a community. Living here has been a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
Leasing office has no follow-through. If you do end up renting here this means they’re your point of contact for all problems so don’t count any resolve and good luck. They no longer have concierge so your on your own. The amenities are mediocre at best and throughly check your apartment upon move in; they will try to charge you for all the previous tenants doings that they never fixed before move in when you move out. The hallways smell of trash and hallway carpet is never cleaned. Lots of short cuts In the apartment and the floors are cheap. They also up rent and will not let you keep your rate. Overpriced considering all that and distance from station.
The apartment is just perfect. We thought we were going to be bumping each other in the bathrooms but they are huge! The property is well maintained and the staff is really helpful. Service requests are taken care of almost immediately. The management staff is extremely helpful. They supported our leasing process all the way thru. The community is pretty active with activities. The business center is fantastic. Is really close to the T station and an easy ride to Boston. Overall very happy with our decision.
Housing and equipment is really worth the price here, but the management does need a improvement.
Halstead has been a really great place to live, especially as a young professional couple starting out our careers in Boston. I couldn't find a nicer place to live right in downtown with easy access to the T that was also within budget- until we found Halstead! It's exciting to be starting out our post-college lives in a beautiful and updated apartment complex that had seemed so unattainable.
Its a good apartment but the two people who sit in the leasing office are terrible. They need to change them for betterment of this building.
I'm not really fond of the apartment. Some of the maintenance people are friendly, but again for what we pay, management and the residents fall short of what we desired for a place to live.
Generally the apartment is very good. Great location, great facilities and beautiful building and room style. Management work is not bad except how they are dealing with unauthorized vehicle taking up authorized vehicle's spot.
High priced, amenities frequently do not work, management is often uncommunicative.
So far this community is amazing and I would definitely recommend it to others. It is clean, in a great area, walking distance to a plethora of places, and the staff has been awesome.
I like the uniqueness of my apartment layout. I enjoy the quiet atmosphere and most tenants are respectful of one another.
The amenities are very nice which makes this building very appealing. The rent was decently priced for the area and the amenities. They do allow dogs so that was also a plus. Pool is on the small side for the size of the building in my opinion. How many people actually virtual golf? Plus its kind of a small room for that and could have been utilized in a better way in my opinion. The real issue here is management. They do as little as possible to help you in any situation. For example, I dropped my keys down the elevator shaft, completely my fault a stupid accident. I called management on a Friday morning, this happened Thursday late evening. Jennifer said she was so sorry, she will let maintenance know and get back to me if they can be retrieved otherwise the elevator people have to come out and I would be charged $1,000 for that call. Supposedly maintenance couldn't get the keys and I wasn't paying $1K. Jennifer offered NO additional solution, like a spare key to use for the weekend or to purchase an additional set of keys. I think it was Friday and she just didn't want to bother. My husband called on Monday and got us a spare key but no fob to get in the main doors, so a little useless. We went on our honeymoon and came back and the keys from the elevator shaft were in our mailbox. I asked the maintenance guy we had previously had interactions with (Very nice Italian guy) He said they were very easy to get no one told them they were there. He must have seen me trying to fish them out and found out the situation. SOME customer service would have been better than NONE. Parking is a terror. They claim they have no way to enforce parking, yet you have to pay for your parking spot and they can't do anything if someone lets a friend in that parks in your spot, now you have to take up someone else's spot. Makes no sense. Then they put up nasty messages in the elevators and common areas about these situations. I guarantee if they tow one car it will solve the problem for everyone, but everyone knows there are no consequences and the only people that get screwed are those paying for the spots. They used to have 24/hr security which was an amenity when I signed my lease but after the third month I never saw another security person there after 6pm. Jennifer lives in the building so you often see her around enjoying amenities but does little to help anyone but herself. They sent our deposit back, with money missing and no explanation of why.
You can hear exactly what your neighbors are doing. Parking is a big issue. The worst is the manager-not helpful at all. Stay away from this place.
the best place on the planet to live. it so beautiful and I can live here forever, just heaven
