U Street has a reputation as the hip and urban, yet sophisticated neighborhood preferred by everyone from college students to business professionals. It’s one of Washington D.C.’s most historic and diverse communities, encompassed by luxury rentals.
The community has a sweet balance of commercial and residential buildings adjacent to nightlife, art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants. Locals can’t get enough of the DC half-smoke covered in chili dish at Ben’s Chili Bowl.
Music is pretty big here in U Street with jazz clubs and rock n’ roll halls on every corner. The Lincoln Theatre is an excellent place to see a show, whether you’re into jazz, soul, or country! Residents enjoy the convenience of the U Street Washington Metro station, so they can travel to neighboring communities with ease.

Property Ratings at Hampton Courts
I have trouble adequately putting into words what a wonderful, warm, and special place Hampton Courts is to live. I’ll start with the staff: Julie, David, Tite, Jaime, and Marisa. Each and every one of these individuals goes out of their way to make this building a warm, clean, and comfortable home for all residents. Julie is far and away the best Community Manager I have ever encountered. In my 5+ years living in this building, she has demonstrated a meticulous attention to detail, the highest standards of building quality, and consistenly prompt and thorough support whenever I required it. Aside from her work ethic, she was an absolute delight to have as my next door neighbor. David is a stellar Site Manager for the property, working seamlessly with Julie to ensure the building is in tip top shape. And last, but not least, Tite is just a gem of a building mechanic and on-site engineer. He handles every task thrown his way promptly and professionally, is personable and friendly to all the residents, and works harder than anyone I’ve ever seen to keep the operations of the building running smoothly. The building itself is in great condition for an older construction. I lived in two apartments, both on the top floor, with hard-wood floors, brand-new appliances, and tons of natural light. The walls are extremely thick so sound from neighbors is not an issue (though sound can be loud depending on which way your apartment faces given the busy U Street area). In terms of bang for your buck, this whole building is just a great deal—affordable pricing for spacious and meticulously maintained units. All-in-all, I could not have been more satisfied with my apartments. One final note. Among the many highlights of my time at Hampton Courts are, of course, the seasonal parties that Julie and David throw. They really pull all the stops for these, catering delicious local restaurants, bringing a food truck (!) into our backyard for tacos, and providing drinks. David is a fixture at these things ensuring everyone has a drink in hand and generating lots of lively conversation. More than anything, David and Julie really take pride in bringing community to the building. THANK YOU to the whole Hampton Courts staff; I will miss this place dearly.
