Property Ratings at Harbour Breeze Lifestyle Apartments
BEWARE. We lived there for one year and couldn't wait to get out. Aside from the paper thin walls and maintenance men who actually referred to themselves as "lazy, " as well as made rude comments, and caused my roommate to get injured by their negligence, the property management clearly had no intention of giving us any of our deposit back. A $750 deposit was whittled down to a $35 refund. My roommate and I followed all of the move-out guidelines to the best of our understanding (the staff is NOT on the page about anything.) and yet we were accused of "very matted and worn" carpeting. This was clearly a way to make up for the difference in fees they were expecting to receive on repainting. (We painted, after getting specific permission, and repainted everything exactly as we were told.) The maintenance man told us he was going to have to paint anyway, and yet they still charged us $200 to repaint what we just repainted. I have rented for 7 years and NEVER not received a majority of my deposit. I leave a place as nice as I get it.
Do NOT RENT HERE. This place is a JOKE! I have never had such a horrible living experience than I have here. The internet is "high speed" that is the biggest lie ever it's always an issue and streaming is hard. Parking is horrible can never find a spot. Even driving through the apartment complex is hard because it's not big enough for 2 cars to go at the same time someone has to pull off to a side. Staff is rude as well. I've had leaky pipes for about a month now and still no one has came to fix it even after the multiple calls. I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking about living here to reconsider
The move out expenses here are ridiculous. We changed apartments in the complex after our 1 year lease and we were charged over $650 for "move out repairs and expenses". We took good care of the place and were charged for a full repaint of $300 (for a few touch ups, not even full walls necessary) and a full carpet cleaning and replacing (after being told it would probably be only $50...it was over $200.) If you move here you will 100% regret it and will be stuck with an astronomical bill when you move out, no matter how good a condition you leave your apartment. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Hello there, We are so sorry to hear that your experience living here at Harbour Breeze was anything less than great. It sounds like you might have transferred to another apartment within the community based on your review and are unhappy with some of your move out charges. I would be glad to discuss these move out charges in more detail to better understand your frustration with them and see if there is anything we can do to turn your negative experience into a positive one. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at cmazzola@becoasset.com or 757-686-2300. We appreciate you taking the time to leave your review of our community and wish you the best of luck in your new home should you no longer live here at Harbour Breeze. Very respectfully, Community Manager Casey Mazzola
Apartment is small but really nice and they put all new everything in when you lease. The staff is amazing and the monthly community events are fun. The area is nice and very safe. I love it here but the dog park is small and dogs are not allowed to socialize with other dogs. It is basically a fenced poop area. Which often times has poop that residents didn’t pick up. And PARKING!! This rent is too high to not have parking by building or designated spot. 5 out of 7 days I can’t park anywhere close to my building. And this is really frustrating when you have groceries.
This is by far the worst possible apartment and company you can rent for the price, it is honestly ridiculous. I had better service for repair, overall quality, and just satisfaction living in barracks in southern Alaska. If you can stay away from this apartment please take my advice and looks elsewhere. Apartments: We are currently in a non renovated apartment (about $100 cheaper than the newly renovated ones.) In a non renovated apartment you'd expect normal wears of an apartment but this took that to a whole other level. There are 4/7 doors that do not work, they either do not close or do not lock. The A/C did not work. The "yard" outside the patio is just mud from poor landscaping and care. The apartment is full of wall cracks and dents. The water heater has enough hot water for a sea shower (about 2 minutes). Since Living there: Don't let them tell you they have high speed internet, it's a lie. I wouldn't even consider it moderate speed internet. Its ON AVERAGE 13 MBPS upload and 14 MBPS download. This would be fantastic, other than the fact that the internet cuts out about every hour for 4-10 minutes. Yet another appliance I am paying for and not getting the promised result. After 2 weeks of reporting the issue I have yet to see anyone take it seriously to fix, even though my income is based off of my work from home. First time turning on the heater it literally caught on fire and set off the building fire alarm. After reporting the issue after solving the fire alarm issue myself, it has now been a week and I have not seen one person even after reporting the severity of the situation. Landscape: The grounds look nice however there is a massive bug problem inside and outside of the buildings with bugs, ticks, and mosquitoes. Most of the ground is so terribly muddy and disgusting that it makes it awful to try walking through. Management: I would say is the only somewhat positive thing about the units. They are kind and seem to take their customer's best interest.
Pros: -relatively quiet neighborhood - convenient to the freeway - lots of restaurants and stores around - generally clean - nice enough apartment to invite friends to - curb appeal is nice - several options to pay rent - flexible due dates - online maintenance requests - some units upgraded with stainless steel stuff - neighbors are mostly Navy people, some young professionals, and a few older divorced/widowed types. Cons: The bad - THIN walls and floors - you will either make many noise complaints or get many, depending on what floor you live on - internet is terrible - only two options: get the internet through the complex (frequent outages, very slow speeds) or get a DSL connection from Verizon (3-5 MBps) parking can be tight in the apartments in the "back" of the complex - most of the "amenities" they list on their materials don't work or are unusable - examples: car wash, fire pit, grills, some gym equipment - tow company is independent contractor and will tow resident cars - tow company responds to complaints by referring you to office - office says they have no control - trash situation is out of control. Bottom line: you could certainly do worse than living here, but don't let the first impression fool you. Talk to some current residents at the mailboxes or at the pool when you come to tour. People seem to move in and out of these apartments frequently. And then you have another surprise waiting for you. I won't ruin that one. ;)
The apartments may look spacious but it is a lot of camera angles you can see the Photoshop door look like they are 5 feet wide! The kitchen is smaller then ones you would find on a 25' boat actual size is 3x5 with a oven door that just opens a fridge that needs to be moved to open your laundry "closet". they boast 1100sq ft apartment what they dont say is its is mostly bathroom and closet. living room room measure 10x18. bed rooms are 12x10 with a 4x8 walk in closet. they force you to use their "High speed internet" ok lets look at this they have a 300mps server to support 329 units so that leaves you with .9 mps down speed at best at 56k modem is quicker. granted you only pay $35 for it but on a hot day or in the middle of the night if the server goes down no internet till it can be fixed or rebooted in the am. 1 trash compactor for the whole place leaving you to drive down with your trash to get rid of it if you live in the front. You cant park your car at night finding a spot is like looking for the holy grail you wonder around aimlessly to no end when you do find one its some pulling out to dump said trash so they are left to either walk with the trash or lose the spot they took 5-10 min looking for. There is a spot where 5 buildings share 15 spots with 12 units in each building hmmm. Oh there is a way that you can get a spot if you Rent a garage monthly you can park in front of it they run about $125 extra. if you have more then 1 friend over the tow truck will surely tow them after 10pm you need to have a parking pass. 3hrs and $240 later. Girls Were nice while you live there that all changes when you put in your 60day notice. Hope you don't like your deposit back they will charge you for the carpets to be replaced even if they are professionally cleaned. They have a contract with Peerless that they get a estimate to clean your carpets to be ruled that they need to be replaced at $125 a room. They also take your last bill for utilities out for the first 60 days of usage dont really understand that sure i payed that when i moved in but okay?
We have lived here for three years and for the most part, we have not had any problems. The fishing is fun, parking can be a bit of a pain, and occasionally we get the rowdy people but all in all it is a nice place to live.

Thank you for taking the time to write a few kind words about our community. We strive to make a difference and set us apart from all the other apartment communities.
My wife and I moved into Harbour Breeze Apartments at the beginning of 2014 and for the last two years we have enjoyed our stay. The apartments themselves are located within walking distance of a police and fire department as well as a emergency hospital and just down the road from several grocery stores, making it a wonderfully convenient place to live. Best of all the management and staff have always been patient with us whenever we had questions and been prompt in their responses. For our first place living together, it has been a great experience.

My husband and I have lived here for a little over a year. It was our first apartment together and it has been exactly what we needed. It is in a safe location, there is a beautiful lake to walk around, and the neighbors are very friendly. The staff also has been great and they greet us by name. Whenever we have needed something fixed, they have responded quickly and fixed the problem.

My Boyfriend and I moved from Virginia Beach to Suffolk over a year ago. Harbour Breeze was number one on my list, i just needed to convince him. We stopped here first to take a tour. After taking a tour we didn't look anywhere else and signed our lease that day! The area is perfect. Bridge Road takes you directly to 664 and 164 with in minutes, which is great especially for our Military personnel. Harbour View Is an amazing area to be live around, so many new restaurants, movie theater, as well as Bennets Creek Park! I'm a fan of feeling safe, when we pulled onto Breezeport Way, the first thing we saw was a Police Department as well as a fire station, pretty sure i was sold right then and there! The property is scenic, large stocked pond, beautiful resort style pool, and a track around the entire pond. I personally love that there is two car ports where you can wash and vacuum your car. The apartments are a little small from what i was used to in Virginia Beach, but knowing the area was nice i didn't mind. They are currently going through a renovation period, from looks of the pictures they are very nice and updated! The staff is always friendly, they know my address and name when i go in to pick up packages. The only downfalls for this property would be trash, internet, and depending on where you live parking. The only trash station is all the way in the back of the complex, we live in the front, so it always sucks having to put trash in our car whenever we need to take it out. Parking in the back seems crazy, whenever i go to take out the trash there are cars parked everywhere. So try and get an apartment near the front if you decide to live here (mailboxes are located in the front as well). Parking is never an issue for us living up front so personally i won't say that is an issue I've ever dealt with. Internet probably is the hardest part. You only have the option of Verizon DSL and Beeco, if you casually surf the web, check FB, and look at pinterest, you won't have an issue. If you're a gamer or like to watch HBO Go, get ready for some lagging and buffering! All in all, i would recommend Harbour Breeze Apartments, it's apartment living so everything can't be perfect, it's impossible to make everyone happy. Living here has made the transition to Suffolk wonderful, i hope everyone has a great experience here as well!

I moved to Harbour Breeze this summer after checking out lots of apartment complexes in the area – and I’m so glad I did! My remodeled apartment has brand new floors, stainless steel appliances, and granite counter tops. It’s pet friendly, very quiet, and I feel extra safe with the police and fire departments nearby. The North Suffolk location is great – just a short drive to movies, restaurants, and lots of shopping. And the staff and maintenance folks are wonderfully helpful and very quick to respond. I highly recommend life at Harbour Breeze!

very nice apartment clean and up to date, friendly and helpful staff, and an inexpensive internet connection that works as advertised. the grounds are kept clean and its hard to beat an onsite pool, and catch and release pond. Neighbors are generally very friendly and quiet, the surrounding area is also very nice and expanding. is just a short drive to many very nice shops and restaurants, and its easy to feel secure with police, fire and rescue, and hospitals all within walking distance. would defiantly recommend this place!

My wife and I have been living here for the past year. The apartments are great and just our size. The neighborhood is very quiet and we feel safe here. Everything is very close so you don't have to drive far to go somewhere.
My sister and I moved to this area over the summer, and we are so grateful to be living at Harbour Breeze! The location is perfect. Only 20 minutes for her to get to school in Hampton and only 15 minutes for me to get to work in Norfolk. We also like that there are plenty of grocery stores and malls nearby. The staff is super friendly as well. They always greet us with a smile and are ready to resolve any issues in a timely manner. Our unit is very spacious and has a great layout. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to move to the Hampton Roads area.

My wife and I owned a home where we raised our family but when we got into a financial situation due to a medical disability we gave up our home to move into an apartment. We had no idea where to look, but after researching online we decided to look at Harbour Breeze Lifestyle Apartments. The Apartment management were so willing to work with us and found an apartment which was handicap friendly. After we moved in, these same individuals assisted us in every way to make this transition smooth. There tech personnel assisted us several times that first month to set up our satelite and internet network. We have enjoyed afternoon strolls around the lake, and the ability to know we are safe inside and out of our apartment. Parking is not assigned but is ample close to our apartment. We have been extremely content with our transition and have told many couples that have become empty nester like us that we wouldn't go back to home ownership.

Lived here many years and only had minor maintenance problems and they were taken care of. I have enjoyed my stay here and look forward to coming home. Many conveniences living here. Nice area and near lots of things like fire department, police department, shopping, hospital, doctors etc. I never have to go further than 10 minutes away for anything except work.

I moved into Harbour Breeze two years ago with my son and soon to be daughter in law. We love the place. The staff has always been friendly to us and greeted us by name and with a smile. The maintenance there is awesome. Anytime I have had an issue they have been johnny on the spot. Usually within 24 hrs of receiving my request. It has always been a quiet community with no issues with our neighbors. We enjoy it so much that my son got married and they moved into their own one bedroom place there and I relocated to a one bedroom as well. My brother in law actually moved into the place as well. Could not ask for a better community in my opinion

Harbour Breeze Apts is a great place to be if you like a quiet scenic area. I have a place that is near the tree line and I love it. They have a friendly staff that will always have an answer for you. I love the lake that is in the middle of the community it is very pretty when it is lit up at night :), and also the 24hr gym, laundry facility, a great pool area and grilling section, along with a fire place/cabana for your get together's. The new renovations that they had done were spectacular with up-to date appliances and hard wood flooring. I feel very comfortable here and would recommend it to anyone.

The Good: Friendly staff, safe/clean neighborhoods, friendly and considerate neighbors, police and fire tenants, pool and gym are well kept The Bad: Internet is DSL speed due to some kind of contractual agreement with the property owner, everywhere around has FIOS so that's a bummer. Rent is relatively high for what you get in the apartments, however, they are currently renovating units. Garage prices are pretty high, and the car cleaning area is not quite what it COULD be, the spray nozzles have no pressure and the vacuum has almost zero power, would be nice if the hoses were higher pressure and the vacuum was powerful due to the pollen and sand around coastal virginia. All-in-all i would recommend people to move here, "meh" right now, but with a few changes it could come closer to the prices they charge and there seems more motivation to make these changes due to recent new competition in the area.

I recently moved here and must say that I am in love with the area and community. The apartments are large and spacious and the grounds are stunning. My husband and I enjoy walking our dogs around the lake and spending time at the immaculate pool. The office staff was beyond exceptional with regard to ensuring a smooth transition upon our move in. Despite some slight confusions, they were able to ensure our happiness and ease of move in every step of the way. The online resident portal is great & a true convenience for residents who work long hours. Putting in a maintenance request and even paying rent is right at your fingertips 24/7. Take the time to visit Harbour Breeze Lifestyle Apartments and I am sure you too will fall in love.

How is the walls in the apartment? Are they thick enough that you can't hear your next door or upstair neighbor?
Harbour Breeze was the perfect place for me to relax after a long day of work. I spent many nights walking my dog around the lake or on my patio. The views are gorgeous. As a nurse, I really enjoyed living close to work while still getting a neighborhood feel. Renting at Harbour Breeze was convenient from move-in to move-out. The staff was especially accommodating when I needed help setting up my online rent payment. Thank you for making my stay in Suffolk, VA so easy.
