Property Ratings at Harlow Apartments
I give them two stars because the location is great, and the pricing is wonderful as well, but I’ve had issues with moving out, incorrectly being charged, the AC not working well the entire time (did mention it in a report), and issues with miscommunication (getting called back). If you want to find a cheaper place downtown and you don’t mind a bit of noise, great, just make sure you read the lease and submit everything on time. Watch and read your emails and attachments when they come as they won’t send a notification through the portal about when out of the blue things are due. You also must restate when you are moving out months in advance as it’s not assumed by the end of your lease. I stayed at my apartment a few days out of each month and was very cleanly only to be billed a large amount at the end and not get my deposit back. I feel as though they charge a hefty amount when you’re leaving, even if you’re as careful as possible, and this goes not only for this location, but the leasing company in general as I have friends from other cities, have the same one. I keep seeing people mention this place being an Airbnb but I can’t speak on that since I saw in the lease that you can’t even sublease easily if you wanted to here (would have been nice since I wasn’t living in the place consistently for seven months, but I wasn’t gonna get charged for getting caught doing that). Never had an issue with getting my deposit back at any other place, but here I ended up owing even more somehow. Pretty disheartening.
I have lived at The Harlow for a little over a year. Two Stars is generous. When I first moved in the dog park was hardly taken care of, both of doors intermittently stopped working/ would not close causing the whole security system to be completely useless. Security patrolled maybe every 3 hours other than that he sat in his vehicle all night watching videos/ movies. This was also my first real apartment and so I never really knew what to look for but the place had not been touched by a cleaner. I had a green stain in my curtain and pink nail polish all over the front of my bathroom vanity. The washer and dryer situation is disgusting. We all have shared washers + dryers with 3-5 units and when I say 3/4 times when you go in there It is disgusting. The app doesn't always work, and you're pretty much screwed if you drop something behind the machines because the room is too small to move them out properly. Lockout fees have went from 75$ to 200$ which is crazy considering the door knobs are so easy to push in and boom you're locked out. Not an ideal home for someone with a reactive animal as well. The whole layout really limited the places I could exit at to walk him. If your dog is an escape artist this is also not the place for you. The way the door knobs are shaped make it really easy for dogs to just open them up. Also they DO NOT SHOVEL the car areas during the winter! I don't have a car but I can imagine it would be hard for someone to pull out. We also have parking out in the front on main street that is free but what happened in Feb of 2022 is Columbus "plowed" all of the snow and stuff from other places into those spots leaving cars literally trapped there. I will say though that in maybe the last few months there has been a shift in management that has been overall positive for the community residing there. I have seen a shift in the dog park but minimally, they repainted a few things making it looking fresh, and re-did the fence for winter. Also Maintenance is generally quick to come out. This is not to bash anyone there. Ultimately, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who is genuinely looking for luxury and I mean this as biasedly as possible.
Its been great living here and neighbors have been very nice since i moved in. Their customer service is always pleasant and helpful. Thanks Sarah and Maggie! You've made my life a lot less hectic. They don't make you feel like you're bugging them at all when you need something unlike the last few places i've lived. They have fun events every week that make you feel like part of a community. I tend to stay home but when i feel cooped up it's nice to have somewhere to go.
The staff is wonderful and does their best to fix everything. When picking a new home in apartment buildings your staff is over 75% part of the decision.
Love this building! It's a nice modern-day layout great for anyone! The staff there are nice and knowledgeable!! Would highly recommend.
The staff is very professional and maintenance is great! Love the location, convenient to everything downtown.
Countless nights now I’ve gotten little to no sleep because of Airbnb rentals all around me here! The building is cheaply put together so you can hear everything next door and above you. These people have no respect as they never stay more than a few days they’ll blast music stomp on your floor yell through windows, leave trash wherever they want including in stairwells that residents have to use. They film music videos wherever they want. 9 times out of 10 they are sketchy looking people I wouldn’t choose to live around. The owners don’t care they let them do what they want. I would avoid this place if you’re looking for a peaceful place to live.
Really upset with this apartment lease, so if you are looking into living here PLEASE READ THIS HONEST REVIEW! I have been living at the “Harlow Hotel” as the residents call it for over 5 months now. In the past five months alone I feel like I have been living at a cheap motel the entire time. The building in subcontracted with a company who rents out vacant apartment rooms like Airbnb or VRBO. This added with the fact that there is little to no security on site or staff in the evenings leads to never-ending noise. There is trash being left all over the building... literally bags of garbage in the halls and stairways...Countless strangers having access to your “secure” apartment building and zero peace of mind when it comes to feeling safe with visitors leaving doors propped open for their guest and etc. Unfortunately it had to come to leaving this review after having to notify staff countless times of issues with the guests and no real change being done. I think the ladies / staff at this building are wonderful and very kind so this review is not to slander them, I believe they are simply mediation between the two and don’t blame them for any of these issues. I just think hard working people should be well aware of the issues you will experience living at this complex. The building minus the main lobby usually smells of cigarette and marijuana smoke most of the day and night. We have a paid washer and dryer situation and the washing machine has ruined entire washes of clothes with whatever is on the inside off the machines. The flooring in my unit is starting to separate and is broken in spots of the apartment building which was never repaired after having someone been sent to do so. Many neighbors feel the same but are afraid to say anything because they feel things won’t change and I would agree with them. I feel very cheated into signing a lease not knowing any of this information, I would have never agreed to live in a building that serves as a cheap overnight stay to almost anyone off the street who wants it. Homestead properties needs to get it together!
