Property Ratings at Harvest Station Apartments
When we toured these apartments, I read the reviews. But i ignored them. I mean, how bad can a 4.5 star apartment complex be? Lol boy do I know the truth now! First, The leasing office tells the tenants they will pay them if they write a 5 star review and keep it up for at least 60 days! But they just take $5 off the trash fee. They will not pay you. And it can only be one time. next, animals! We don't have animals! And we got a letter on our door stating that if we do not pick up dog's poop, they will charge us! I called the leasing office and told the manager that we don't even have a dog! And she told us that if we see poop around the community, it is our job to pick it up and keep the community clean, And if they keep seeing it, they will charge each unit (even if they do not have pets) a fee for having to hire a company to clean it up. next, make sure you are on the 3rd floor or you will hear everything! And the leasing office will not do anything about it! They will not talk to them, they will not allow you to go and talk to them and if you have a video of how loud they are, They still won't do anything. Also, the "security" will not do anything! It got to the point where we called the cops 16 times in the entire 6 months because of the noise. Sadly, the cops can't do much. So it got to the point where we were staying in a hotel on Holidays because we knew they were going to party. And We just bought an extra fan to sleep with so we didn't hear them walking around. Third, the maintenance!! If something stops working, they do not care and they will take their time to come fix it. And they only don't even fix it. They give you a temporary fix and hope it works until you move out. Our thermostat stopped working during the summer and they were mad that they had to completely redo it. it took them about 2 weeks to finally fix it. And lastly, your deposit!! just know that no matter what, even if you take pictures when you move out, yes, you will be giving them money when you move out! No matter what! We got charged $300 for a CRACK in the microwave. And though i have a picture stating that it was not there when we moved, It is not enough evidence that the crack was not there when we moved out. As long as they have a picture, that is all that matters. It doesn't matter if they did the damage, it will come back on you.
We moved in and about 2 weeks later, we wanted out! We never wanted to be home! It got to the point we stayed with family so we could get some sleep! 1. the walls are so thin, you can hear everything! The toilet above you, the shower, them walking, you can even hear the people next to you, shut their drawers. 2. though you are paying for a gated community, the gates NEVER work! Go in for a tour and notice how they are open? Yeah, they are like that all the time. There was a gunman running through the complex and we were on lock down. If the gates were working, he never would have been able to get into the complex. if you move in, make sure to get a garage!! Otherwise your car will get broken into. And the leasing office will NOT do anything about it. Even if you camera footage. 3. Do you have a pet? If yes, CONGRATS!! you owe them at least $400 for new carpeting when you move out! your pet did not pee on the ground though? Well there's no proof so they will charge you for it anyway. On that note, if you have a dog and another dog poops anywhere on the property and the owner does not pick it up, you will be charged an addition pet fee for YOU not picking up the dog poop. Because ya know, they don't know if it was yours or not. So might as well charge ALL dog owners. Lastly, something breaks in your apartment? Duct tape fixes EVERYTHING right? your dishwasher is leaking? Duct tape. your thermostat is broken? Well cover up with blankets! DUH! Your dryer broke? Well there is a laundry matt 2 miles away that you can use! you don't want to? Well they guess you don't need clean clothes then. And lastly... 4... You WILL be paying for the packaged lockers. There is no way around that. But what is more irritating is the lockers will just stop working. What do you do? Just keep checking and "hopefully it will be up and running soon" But your medicine is in that locker? Well sorry but you will have to wait! How long? Well the longest I waited was 2 days. But that was just my mothers Christmas present so no big deal. I can't complain to much though because ya know, "they are just SO understaffed" that they can't help. Yeah. I heard that one WAYY to many times.
Upon moving out, we received a final statement stating we owed over $600 to replace carpet due to pet damage. We called and stated that we did not have any pets ever. The only animals were the mice that took 3 weeks to be exterminated from our apartment. The pictures Harvest provided of the stains were under the backside of the carpet. Harvest stated we had to pay since we did not write anything up about stains on carpet when we moved in, We asked how we were supposed to pull up the carpet and check for stains? Please be sure to take pictures and document everything when moving in and out of this apartment complex.
The leasing office/management is very unhelpful. I lived there for 2 years. 30 days after I moved out I received a final notice that I owed over $400. They are charging me $160 to replace the carpet because they said it had urine damage. I did not have an animal in the apartment and there was not any urine damage. They are arguing that when they shampooed the carpet it brought up a urine smell and that I did not mark that on my move in inspection. The AC stopped working twice and leaked water onto the carpet. I provided pictures showing that along with maintenance request records but they are refusing to take responsibility for that damage. Reading other reviews this seems to be a trend. The move out process was different because of Covid-19 and they would not do an in person walk through. I forgot to turn in the remote for the gate and they are charging me $135. I found the remote but they are unwilling to accept the remote because they said the move out statement has already been processed. I never received an email or call of missing items but instead a bill 30 days later. During this time with new processes in place you would think they would be understanding and willing to work with their residents but that is not the case. All they do is reference the lease agreement and pass the blame. In 2 years that I lived there, the year round pool was rarely open. It was constantly closed for maintenance for months at a time. The gates to get in and out were always broke. There is a swallow bird infestation. There are 100s of birds that build mud nests on the sides of the buildings near the windows and in the patios. They are loud and poop on everything. The parking is a nightmare and often have to park far from your building.
Unfortunately this place would be really nice if they would just switch management. Highly unprofessional staff.
We stayed at Harvest Station for only a year, but had to move back to Indiana due to family illness. Everything was paid on time, and as far as I'm concerned we did everything we could possibly do to be great residents. Here's the catch... the front desk and manager don't make it worth the headache. Everything may seem fine when you are living there, but they will get you when you move out so be sure you take pictures of everything. Apparently, you have to take pictures of the underside of your carpets though, which the manager snootily asked when I said I have pictures. On December 23rd or 24th I called their office, looking to speak to a manager to dispute some charges on my movement statement, which by the way they sent on the 14th and didn't get to me until the 24th. As a result of their first notice getting to me late, they sent me to collections because I didn't pay within the 10 days that it was taking the letter to get to my new home. She basically said there was no proof that I just received the letter on the 24th, and everyone knows with the holidays that mail is super, super slow. I looked it up with USPS and it can take standard mail up to two weeks to reach IN from CO. But I did have some proof.... I called and spoke with her name is Brandy I believe and she sent me to the manager's voicemail, because as she stated, she was the only one who could handle disputes like that. She was away for the holidays, which I understand, but she never called back when the staff said she'd return to the office. So I called them again and spoke to Brandy who cleared some things up and said that my account had been sent to an agency named RD Fuller, which I found out later is a collection agency. Before I could even dispute anything and the day I received their notice! She said she'd I'd been calling a lot and that she'd definitely let the manager know... apparently not. Finally on my third call today I got ahold of their manager, who said there was no voicemail on her phone.... Seems convenient. I then asked if they recorded the calls for quality assurance, because there should be record of me calling and talking to the front desk, and her saying she'd transfer me. It seems they just don't want to deal with it. Basically, if you are in the right it doesn't matter, because as they'll say... you just have no proof. Warning to anyone moving in, after a few days of your move out call them and make sure they aren't going to charge you any extra move out fees.
I have lived in a Harvest Station apartment for over a year, and am very happy here. I continue to make friends with the nicest people who also live here and cannot imagine a nicer, more professional staff and management. I've seen reviews that don't agree with my perspective and have to wonder why. But no one... can please everybody. True, some people don't pick up after their dogs, so I pick up after mine and theirs. It doesn't hurt to bend over a little extra for the community. Irresponsible people live everywhere, and we are not the exception! Management has recently taken steps to encourage compliance in this regard. We have recently undergone extensive maintenance, painting and repairs. I know some have been more inconvenienced than others at times, but not more than might happen anywhere else. Some people have never owned a home or contracted work to be done... I have. Management here has done everything they could and have repeatedly been disappointed in promises and commitments not being honored by contractors. There is only so much anyone can do in these cases. Once the contract is in place, and the work is in progress (whether or not you are happy with how it is going), you ride it out doing whatever you can to get what you are paying for and correcting problems as they arise... and Harvest Station management has done everything they could to fight for their residents here! That being said, these projects are all done now. Everyone has their own perspective based on so many different things, but for me, Harvest Station is a great place to live! I love the management, office staff, and maintenance crew... they have all been great to me since I have been here and I highly recommend it!
Wow where do I start, first of all I had visited about seven other apartment complexes before I came to this one and I have to admit the approach here was very different, as was the vibe in the most positive of ways. I like that the staff are very empathetic when listening to what your needs are as a future prospective resident here. They really made me feel special in the way that I felt more like family than an outsider which is important to me when I'm considering where my new home is going to be. When I asked my daughter she said "it seems like they really care about us here dad" I agreed with her and signed up. I've been content ever since. Harvest Station is a special little community and I'm happy to call home. David B.
We moved out of Harvest Station at the end of July 2016. Many of the problems with Harvest Station seem to be due to a lack of property management and operational experience. So, when given the option we had the easy decision of opting not to renew. Due to our extensive experiences with rental units we have listed the qualities we value in a rental unit and our experiences with these qualities at Harvest Station. First is Security and Safety. This is classified as a gated community, but the gates are either open or broken most of the time. This delivers a false sense of security. Our safety was continuously compromised due to the actions of Management and the Office Staff. Keys to apartments can be readily obtained without verification by asking the Office Staff. Our friend was meeting us at our apartment and jokingly asked for our apartment key, which was promptly handed to him without checking his ID or cross-referencing our rental information. Second is Accountability. Problems happen because we are human, however, taking ownership of issues is the only way to ensure that it can be corrected and avoid reoccurrence. Management and the Office Staff refuse to take accountability for their mistakes and often try to shift blame on you or someone else. Perfect example is the key issue and they argued that this was not there fault. Third is Trust and Communication. Needless to say we could not trust the active Manager or Office Staff. We could not trust Management or the Office Staff to correct or assist with the resolution of any minor or major problems. The communication and follow through from Management and/or Office Staff was non-existent. Do not expect a return call or response. Fifth is Property Maintenance. This was a highlight for Harvest Station. The Maintenance Staff proved to be competent and consistently exceeded expectations. Any problems or issues with our unit were quickly resolved. Sixth is Location and Cost. This community is relatively close to both shopping and bus stops. The cost per square foot is reasonable if you do not consider the other things listed as costs. Lastly is Parking. Midway through our lease management forced residents to sign a new parking addendum or face being towed. This resulted in residents that are paying extra for a garage to move a vehicle to move the vehicle out of the garage. So, you were forced in winter to scrape off a car to get out the car you put in the garage to avoid scrapping ice.
I moved here a few months ago from New Mexico, and the staff is amazing and made me feel right at home. The maintenance guys actually asked me what else I need when they came to fix something..what? So great! The design of the place is open, airy and bright, and the style is incredible. And one huge plus..the price is more reasonable for what you get than any of the dozens of other places I looked at!
Harvest Station is a beautiful apartment complex. I love the granite countertops, dark cabinets/wood flooring, balcony size, and bathroom. I leased a one bedroom walk down garage floor plan. The apartment feels more like a townhome and less like an apartment. For people who want more than a typical apartment, a floor plan with a walk down garage would be the way to go. The appliances are in good working condition which was important to me. Great washer and dryer!!!! The only down side to the apartment complex is the parking and management. If you have a garage you can't use it for storage. The garage counts as one of your parking spaces. So, if you have two people living in a one bedroom with a garage. One person has to park in the garage and the other person has to park in the driveway. They don't give parking passes to park in the lot unless you want to pay a monthly fee. Management is horrible to say the least. Very unfriendly to residents. Made residents mid way through the lease sign a garage addendum to still use their garage. They also have odd rules like not being able to park in the driveway with the rear of your car facing the garage because they don't want the garage doors damaged. Overall, the apartments themselves are great. Just the management is bad.
This apartment was great when we first moved in, in October of 2014. Since then the management has changed and it has gone down hill ever since. The staff is rude and unhelpful. I have had to talk with them about several different issues, only to be treated like a child. The apartments themselves are nice, and utility bills always seem low (which is a plus). The gym is nice but doesn't have near enough equipment for how busy it always is. The rent is high as well, but this is Colorado, so that is hard to get around.
The parking situation is terrible. Not enough spaces to accommodate all the cars. If they fix this issue it would be a five star community.
