Property Ratings at Haw Creek Mews Apartments and Townhomes
We did choose an apartment that had not been recently renovated like some of them had been. That being said, there were issues. First of all, do not expect after hours maintenance, even in an emergency. There were several occasions that the toilets over flowed with not help. The showers never drained despite us regularly cleaning the drain. The plumbing was by far our biggest issue. Also, the carpet was not new when we moved in and at move-out we were charged for replacing it. While there were significant issues, the community was great and the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Whether you are single or have a family you will have a place here. There's a pool, clubhouse, workout room and even a doggie park. Every area is well maintained and the staff is very helpful in many ways. You are 10 minutes from downtown, the mall, theaters and shopping. Also many restaurants. So see we have it all!!
You're always leary about complex living, even when it seems like it is presented to be a great place. Well in this case Haw Creek Mews has been everything we've expected and more. The staff is so friendly. Anytime we have had a maintenance request it has been handled very timely and efficiently. The price is right and the amenities are great. We are so happy to have made this our home.
These apartments are very spacious, very affordable, and the best part is they are pet friendly. The staff is very helpful and super friendly! The grounds are always very clean and well maintained. The grounds include a dog park and a greenway to walk on. On site laundry is also available, as well as a pool 24 hour gym, and even community breakfasts and huge dinner get-togethers 2 Saturdays out of every month. This allows all of the residents to become well acquainted and makes the community that much friendlier!! We definitely feel right at home and have since day 1!
My apt. is an old and it has no micro wave the appliances are old, oh darn everything is old in this place, even me but I love the neighbor hood. It's close to shopping ,a mall and everything is convenient for a senior like me. I don't like to drive to far to shop. I have a few friends here and everyone is friendly and you can have a pet, which is great for me, I love my pup, she is so sweet but has lots of energy and love to walk. I do love it here but I would like new appliances, sink etc. I have a good view of the mountains out the patio door. Its a wonderful place to live not to hot or cold. I love it .
the good: there are some great people who live here...family friendly, kind and aware of living closely with others. it's safe and people are fairly observant which is nice. most people try to keep the place picked up and watch out for each other and the kiddos. the bad: like anywhere there are those folks that just don't play well with others. but if you're a straight forward direct kinda person, it's usually alright. management: a few of the staff truly seem to care, know the residents, etc... I've not had any real problems with staff or maintenance. reasonable response time call backs, etc. as with any corporate place there's the red tape, etc... I do think it's a pretty good place to live for now... I'm thinking about re-signing my lease and hoping my rent doesn't increase but we'll have to wait and see...
Comfortable updated apartments on east end of Asheville. Quiet neighborhood. Efficient office. Not fancy, but clean buildings and interiors, all in good repair. Would definately stay here again.
These are the most affordable apartments in Asheville. It is a great location with a pool, fitness center, dvd library, and playground. The apartments and town homes are spacious. Some are older and outdated but still very well kept. I can't say enough good things about the staff. People here are friendly and you feel very safe. I would highly recommend this community to all ages!
I have lived in my apartment home for 20 years and I love it. Great community. It is quiet and safe. Grear ammenities. Dog Park,Playground, workout room. Maintenace staff is responsive and professional. My apartment has been completely redone. New kitchen, new bathrooms, new carpet and flooring. Upgraded all light fixtures and doors. New coat of paint. Love living here.
How can I complex of 250 townhomes be so quiet? Even the dogs, who are welcomed here seem respectful! I'm nestled up in the woods and my bedroom on the 2nd story feels like a treehouse. My layout is well thought out and flows well. I can walk to my bank, the library, my doctor and through a sweet little park across the street from a great pub. Access to hiking trails, the Blue Ridge Parkway and shopping are just minutes away and downtown Asheville only 10 minutes. The service of receiving your packages in the office has been invaluable to me as I started shopping for things I needed to set up my life here. They respond VERY quickly to any problems, provide DVD's, a swimming pool, a laundromat (which I used before my washer/dryer purchase) and they keep the grounds clean and beautifully landscaped. It's been the perfect landing.
i'll start with the pros- everyone that works here is pretty friendly. the maintenance staff is particularly on top of their game. they bring you replacement filters for the air conditioner (so you don't have to buy any), and fix any issues promptly (if staff gets message to them). the inside of the apartments are nice and the rooms are probably a little bigger than average. and it's very pet friendly here. cons- the walls are pretty thin. i can hear conversations from next door. also- i'm not thrilled that they regularly come to your apt to check things out. if you're not home when they come, they'll unlock yr door and just come in. and there's only one lock for each door, you can't add another one (not super safe). oh, and you have to walk to the entrance of the complex to throw out trash. i think that's it!
This is the greatest Townhouse community to live in. So close to schools, restaurants , attractions, beautiful Mountain view wherever you shop just miles from Asheville Mall and other great shopping strips! Love the fact that there is so much to do. Baltimore and downtown are AWESOME!!!! Staying close to home and having a beautiful peaceful creek run through the community is a plus. Our dogs love the BARK park, while we enjoy the sound of running water from the creek! i wouldn't live any where else in Asheville, unless we buy a house of course.
I love the Mews! They have a very friendly staff and the apartments are kept up very well. I love how pet-friendly this complex is, it helps make me feel very safe. The Mews also has a great location in Asheville! 8mins to downtown and minutes away from multiple highways for easy getting around.
My husband and I just recently got married and Haw Creek Mews is the perfect starter townhouse for us. It's just the right size and give us that home feeling until we are ready to buy a house. The neighborhood is perfect and we love living so close to everything. Haw Creek Mews Apartments rock
At this point in my life, I have lived in 6 different states, over 10 different apartment complexes (and moved more times than someone in the witness protection program). I can honestly say that the Haw Creek Mews is my absolute favorite apartment complex. Why, you ask? The front office peeps are genuinely kind and always pleasant. They are tried and true animal lovers so I didn't have to leave fluffy at my mothers. And, I have no crazy neighbors. Sounds to good to be true but it is the truth. Here are some other benefits of living at the HCM's. My neighbors have become friends and my son has playmates less than 20 feet from our town home. I feel safe here and my son can run outside amongst his friends without the worry of a helicopter mom. There's also a clean pool, a playgound, a park, a fence- in dog park, a family/ kid/ dog friendly restaurant right next door, a library close by, free coffee/ tea, and the location, location, location. As someone that traveled the country like a gypsy, I have no plans of moving from here anytime soon. I highly recommend this joint. And, who knows, maybe we'll become close friends.
My wife and I moved from a house we rented in Weaverville almost 3 years ago into a 2-story townhouse apartment in Asheville. We simply fell in love with the Mews because they didn't require a security deposit at the time and they allowed dogs. The apartment is like living in a house rather than an apartment since no one lives above you. We have new kitchen appliances and built in microwave over the stove. We're getting an accent wall painted today. The staff here are extremely friendly and courteous. We don't have to pay for trash pickup. When we signed a renewal for the third year, the manager came to us so we didn't have to come to the office. Living here is like living in a condo. You'll love it too.
I moved here about two years ago and absolutely love it. There are flowers and trees everywhere. There is a creek and lots of birds. The people are great and take great care of us. They are very responsive if anything goes wrong.
If you are looking for a quiet, conveniently located complex on the east side, "The Mews" is a pretty solid choice. Located just off of Tunnel Road in Haw Creek (the good part, not the section near the run down old motels), it is a very quick and easy drive to downtown Asheville in one direction, Swannanoa and Black Mountain in the other. Warren Wilson and all of its trails are a few minutes away. Creekside Taphouse is within easy stumbling distance. There is a lot within sober walking distance. If you work at the VA Hospital, this is about as close as you can get without sleeping in your office. The location really is quite nice. What? You don't have a car? No worries, there is an ART bus stop directly at the entrance to the property. Convenient, right? The apartments have roofs and floors and windows and doors and all of the things in between that you'd expect. There is a pool that is nice and is full of clean water. There is a small gym with a couple of treadmills and an elliptical and a view of the creek. There is an on-site laundromat. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The maintenance guys are all very friendly and quick to respond to whatever maintenance needs might arise, including the random middle of the night water heater leak that thankfully didn't turn into anything disastrous. The property is pet friendly, there are a lot of dogs. There is a newly constructed dog park to allow your pups to run around without the leash for a bit. It's right next to the playground where you can let your kids run around without their leashes as well. Convenient, right? In the 4-ish years that my lady and kid and I have lived at "The Mews", we've not had any issues with any neighbors and minimal issues with maintenance problems. As with any apartment complex, small things come up, but the office/maintenance staff has been attentive and those things have stayed small. Hm, what else? It's in the Reynolds school district. There's an Ingles a mile away. There's an Exxon that has a surprisingly good selection of craft beer just around the corner. It's near the Blue Ridge Parkway. The madness of the Asheville Mall is pretty close. They have free donuts in the office on some Saturdays. Basically, the only thing that this place is missing is a massive water park, its own vineyards, and free daily massages. (I'm just trying to put ideas into the owners' heads now...)
We recently moved to Haw Creek Mews in Asheville, NC, and only regret not having done so sooner. The location is excellent, with easy access to shopping for necessities and luxuries, and allows very convenient access to public transportation. Equipped with a pool and round-the-clock access to a free weight and workout center, as well as laundry facilities (if needed), we were able to do away with a couple of monthly costs right away. We found the townhouse we selected to be well cleaned and newly painted, with all appliances working well. While we did find that there was a slight drainage issue with the bathtub faucet when using the shower head, and the pull-chain light switch for the ceiling fan was frozen, both issues were resolved within 24 hours of discovery, and complex staff were pleasant and helpful. Additionally, we were very happy to find that there is little to no noise issue between units. Having mostly lived in freestanding homes prior to our recent move, we were very surprised to learn that you can barely hear the lawn maintenance crew using their tools around the complex when the area is tended once per week (on Wednesdays), and we get the impression that a neighbor could be hosting a rock concert next door and we'd barely hear a murmur. Finally, Haw Creek Mews is a pet-friendly community! Our 8 year old cat, Lila, appears to have never been happier. This is her first time living in a residence with stairs, and she seems to be thoroughly enjoying her stay. We look forward to our continued stay, and would encourage anyone interested in residing in East Asheville to take a moment to check out Haw Creek Mews ( hawcreekmewsapts.com ). Benny C & Stephanie W, Asheville, NC
everybody know your name! seriously. family oriented dog friendly one entrance so you feel super safe lots of community events pool-definitely the most popular spot!
Haw Creek Mews apartments have made the process of finding and renting an apartment so easy. Everyone I have spoken to has been very kind and always helpful.
We are so happy that we moved into this community.
I've moved to Asheville from Boston recently and am astounded by the beauty here! But so much more than that is the place I found in Haw Creek Mews. The staff here are marvelous at being helpful to my needs. If I need something taken care of, it's accomplished "lickidy split". With regards to life here at Haw Creek Mews, they create social events so you can meet your neighbors in a fun setting. They take pride in keeping the grounds well taken care of...I love it here! No wonder there is always a waiting list.
If you're looking in east asheville, it is one of the cheapest, roomiest apartment/townhomes you will find. The staff is helpful and has a pool, workout facility, and walking distance from "Creekside Taphouse". Neighborhood around has some lovely homes, and I run a lot as there's plenty of sidewalks and parks to go to. Pet friendly, neighbors are friendly, and all in all not a bad place. The place needs a bit of maintenance work and updating as much of the cabinets, appliances, and such are old and cheap.
A very peaceful and quiet setting nestled in the mountains. The staff at Haw Creek Mews are really friendly and helpful. It is located minutes from all the attraction of downtown Asheville and Biltmore estate.
Looked at many properties. Was relieved to finally find Haw creek mews Apts. Clean, quiet, and very spacious. One of the few truly pet friendly properties I looked at. Larger units priced below most of the competition. Staff was freindly, accommodating, and professional. They went above and beyond to help in any way possible. There is an actual sense of community not usually found in a large complex.
Great place with many amenities. Only issue is the insulation and weather proofing of my particular building. Spaces between doors and windows leak air.
We love our apartment! Living areas are huge! very open layout! kitchen has all modern appliances and you couldn't ask for a bigger master bedroom! and the maintenance guys are on point! something goes down they come out the same day to get it back up and working!!
Location: The neighborhood is in a pretty quiet area. It is close to a few parks, a library, grocery store, gas stations, and plenty of restaurants. There's also a bus stop right at the entrance. The only downside is that the restaurant next door does play music at least once a week and you can hear it pretty well if they are playing outside. The neighborhood: The buildings are fairly nice looking and the grounds are maintained well. One thing that really attracted us was the fact that not all the buildings look exactly the same and there are plenty of trees around the property. There's also a decent sized pool, which is really nice to have. The apartments/townhouses: The insides are nice, definitely not 5 star though. There's tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, carpet every where else. You are allowed to put stuff on the walls, which is good for adding color to the place without having to paint. The downside for me is that the windows have some how become dirty in between the panes and I'm not able to clean them. Staff/rent: The staff are helpful and they plan out events every so often for the neighborhood. The rent is reasonable compared to other places in the area and only includes garbage. I haven't lived here for a full year yet, so I'm not sure if or how much rent will go up. Overall: Pretty nice place to live.
Convenient location and pool is great! However, not very safe, lots of car break ins and no security. Also, they don't recycle.
Haw Creek Mews isn't in a trendy neighborhood, but offers a rare Asheville combination of convenience and quiet. You're less than five minutes walking distance to a library, two parks, and the Creekside Tavern, which is an indoor/outdoor venue for good food, drink, music, and volleyball. Although located on a quiet, secondary street, the Mews is a five minute drive to the Asheville mall, numerous restaurants, and Interstate access. Haw Creek Mews is a comfortable community that is family and pet friendly with an on-site pool, playground, and dog park. The units themselves are older, but well-maintained. The floor plans are typical, with a slight deficiency in storage. The staff are what make Haw Creek Mews a special community. Most maintenance calls are completed within an hour by friendly staff, many of whom live on the property. The office staff are friendly and helpful, and seem to genuinely care about each tenant. They promote a sense of community, hosting many parties and providing free coffee and donuts most mornings. Haw Creek Mews is a nice place to live.
We enjoy the space in our townhouse. The community at Haw Creek is friendly and the location is located close to everything you would want in Asheville.
Easy qualification process. Takes pets. Responsive. The actual apartment rented wasn't near the quality standard of the model shown. Dog park is not easily accessable.
We have had a great experience with the neighborhood and the Staff at Haw Creek Mews. The location is convenient to all that you may need from Shopping to Hiking to Schools. Thumbs up in our book!
i absolutely love everything about Haw Creek. The area is nice and the ladies in the office are incredibly easy to work with. I am extremely pleased with everything they have done for me in switching roommates in the middle of my lease and all of that. They are wonderful and I'm so glad I chose them for my first home in Asheville.
Apartments are older but have had some upgrades. Carpets need to be replaced. Maintenance is very helpful and responsive. Worst part is when my neighbors slam the doors my walls shake.
Legal was the best at getting Michael and I set up.
RENTER BEWARE!! Haw Creek Mews Apartments are running a carpet scam, they will replace carpet when you leave and charge you for it even if you left it looking brand new. I took many photographs prior and after move in and recorded all conversations with them and district manager as they scammed me out of my security deposit. The carpet was fresh and looked brand new with no odor or stains and I professionally had the carpets cleaned. I recorded them as they told me that a maintenance guy ripped up the carpet and checked for stains. I replied "So wait a minute without any stain or probable cause you rip up carpet to check for stains (I have a decade of maintenance experience and most know if you rip up carpet you ruin it and it can not be re stretched).. SO I caught them in a huge lie which means they already planned to replace the carpet. I took note of everyone who moved out and also noted that an unmarked white van comes to replace carpet after EVERYONE moves out. If you have a dog they will target you, and claim your dog messed up the carpet. But I can assure you my dog never once messed up the carpet. They also told me they replaced carpet in the ENTIRE two story apartment. But one room was NEVER used! Ultimately they seek to replace the carpet every year. The ignorant person working there said I'm lucky they didn't charge me for the carpet that was replaced before I moved in, so I said "Oh so I am responsible for carpet someone else used too" Don't give these people your business, many friends had this same unfortunate thing happen to them. They will be nice to you to get you to move in, but here is what you can expect. 1) You can expect to not get that updated apartment they always show off (I've talked to many that live here and they sure don't live in one) Expect a bland ugly apartment. 2) You can expect to have new carpet, as the person who moved out just paid for it. 3) Expect to have your rent increase yearly even though your apartment will never get updated. 4) You can expect to not get any of your deposit back, so don't count on it. 5) You can expect to have unprofessional service and arrogant employees when you do have a problem that arises, anything that inconveniences them. If you see any 5 star reviews "Claiming" to be a renters good experience please know that rental companies post them to make themselves look better. Also if there is any positive reviews its probably because they have yet to move out! I didn't mind living here but moving out showed a completely different side of them. After I moved I was thinking about really needing that deposit and the last thing I though was going to happen is get charged and have it taken away since I left my apartment in excellent condition. I was very stressed and in tears driving and even got pulled over as this stress in dealing with these horrible crooks got me sidetracked and upset. Struggling with money and wondering what I was going to do to put food on the table, the money taken from me would have helped, yet they got what they wanted I guess that's more important than us individuals trying to get by. BEWARE OF HAW CREEK and their parent company PALMS ASSOCIATES They own and operate the same type of business with these Asheville area apartments: Haw Creek Mews Beaver Creek South Ridge They put me in a bad financial predicament, I am looking to help the locals here and save them some heartache, make sure to tell friends and loved ones to avoid this place.
If you can afford to live here, you should really check it out. It's very quite and the staff is very attentive. I'm sad I have to leave. It is off Tunnel Rd. like 5 mins away from everything. I never hear my neighbors. The town homes are in great condition. That's all!
This complex had a helpful staff and affordable rates but we were not excited about the area and amenities outside of the apartment. We chose to rent elsewhere before even viewing a model apt.
