As its namesake implies, Amherst Center is a neighborhood right in the middle of town. The neighborhood is home to two institutions of higher education: Amherst College and University of Massachusetts, Amherst. The neighborhood feels like a mix of urban and suburban living featuring classic New England architectural styles. Amherst Center is an artsy town with literary and musical roots. Visit Emily Dickinson Museum and learn about the birthplace of the famous poet. Local music lovers and musicians frequent renowned shops like Stamell String Instruments, Fretted Instrument Workshop, and Mystery Train Records. The community hosts multiple music events throughout the year. Bring your friends to the annual Jamherst, a two night festival of live original music including indie rock, bluegrass, alternative, and electronica. In the summer enjoy free outdoor concerts at Downtown Beats.

Property Ratings at Hawkins Meadow
We lived there for 5 years and it was a great experience. The apartments are renovated as people move out so many have been updated. The wood floors are really nicely finished. The floors let noise in from the apartment above. There is a safe bike space in the laundry room downstairs. You have to go outside and down to do your laundry but it uses an app and no change is needed to operate them which is very convenient. The location is the best! Walk across the street for Anything you could want. Even the post office is close. The pool is always immaculate. Maintenance requests are filled promptly. Never saw a bug inside Ever. Well, stink bugs are ubiquitous but nothing else. They keep up with property repairs regularly so at least you see where your money goes. The outside rear decks are Really nice. I would totally move here again, but moved out east.
We've lived here for five years, and love our apartment. Rent is on the high side, but includes heat, water and great maintenance. There's a laundry room in each of the five buildings and a great pool. The pool isn't always open, which can be frustrating, but is overall worth it. The location is on a main highway with basically everything you need in a five minute radius, but it's set back enough that it's nice and quiet - you forget how close you are to all the hubbub. Overall would recommend.
I've been living here for a little over two years and I have loved it. It is so safe, quiet, family-friendly, and clean! The grounds are maintained very well and the pool is beautiful. The ladies in the office are super nice and respond quickly to inquiries. Ernie the repair man is the best. He once came over on a Friday night after our light switch started to smoke and fixed the problem. My only complaint is that rent is a little high for the area; however, the apartments are spacious, updated, and well worth the extra money.
This apartment complex is one of the best in the area. It is clean, quiet, safe, and well maintained. There is plenty of parking that is plowed during the winter. There is a pool for when it gets hot, which is open most of the day during the summer. Most of the tenants here are grad students or families, which makes for a quiet and safe environment. My only complaint is that it is much pricier than other apartments in the area. However, you do get what you pay for. The 1 br is a luxurious 700 sq. ft. and the kitchen has a dishwasher. If there was an in unit washer/dryer, I'd never leave. Also, the women that work in the office are nice and very accommodating. Also, Ernie the maintenance man rules and fixes all of your troubles as quickly as possible.
