Kings Grant is a neighborhood five miles north of Downtown Wilmington and about eight miles from the Atlantic coast. King’s Grant attracts residents for its central location and pleasant atmosphere. Renters have choices of modern apartments for rent. A few restaurants and businesses dot the community, but large retail centers lie just south of the neighborhood at the Highway 17 and 177 intersection. Just south of Kings Grant is the University of North Carolina Wilmington, making Kings Grant an ideal spot for students. The western border runs along the Wilmington International Airport, making travel accessible. Golf courses and community parks are scattered around Kings Grant and there are some just outside of the community too. The beaches a few miles east provide more outdoor recreation.

Living at Hawthorne at Murrayville has been such a wonderful experience for my family! One of the things that sets this place apart is the incredible sense of community they foster. My son and his friends often stop by the office after school, and the staff always welcome them warmly, even offering snacks. It’s such a small gesture, but it means the world to us. The staff goes out of their way to make residents feel welcome and cared for, and it shows in little moments like this. It’s not just a place to live—it’s a community that feels like home. Highly recommend!

One word: FLEAS. I moved in 6 weeks ago and have been plagued by a flea infestation left over from the previous owner´s pets (I don´t have pets). There were other problems when I moved in too. The apartment was not ready until 4:30pm on the move-in date, and the carpet was so filthy that it had to be replaced after I moved in. However, the big problem has been the persistent flea infestation. In the complex management´s defense, they have made efforts to help rid the apartment of fleas. Eric has been great and has had the apartment treated three times, but I am still catching fleas in a trap and picking them off my legs. Following the second unsuccessful treatment, I requested to be moved to another Hawthorne apartment or be allowed to terminate my lease. This request was denied by the regional manager. So, they treated the apartment a third time, and after returning home following Thanksgiving, I am still finding fleas. I do not agree with how this was handled by the regional manager. I believe that I should have been allowed to leave after the second unsuccessful flea treatment instead of being left to wallow around in flea poison for a third (and unsuccessful) time. At this point I have only paid rent twice, and I am already looking forward to my lease ending. Hawthorne´s handling of this on the regional level has left a bad taste in my mouth and tarnished their reputation in my eyes. I only wish I had seen a review like this prior to making the poor choice to rent here.

My daughter and I moved here originally for the school district after my divorce, and it was the best decision I have made in years!! The staff, pool and puppy park was amazing!! The location is close to downtown and the beach, what more could you ask for!!!

The staff at Hawthorne at Murrayville truly goes above and beyond with every single thing that happens on site. This community is such a hidden gem. It is off the beaten path, but walking distance to a grocery store, a local coffee shop across the street the complex bean (and dunkin donuts), and a gas station. Easy access to Cape Fear Community College, and downtown. The clubhouse always has goodies! They have cookies, and snacks, and are always friendly and welcoming!

This is a cute and cozy property in a quaint location with a great staff! Rachel is by far the best property that I have lived at and I have lived at many apartments due to my job and travel requirements. Convenient to Lowe's Foods within walking distance, there is even a Dunkin Donuts within walking distance.

This property has a very professional and informative staff. The apartment floor plans are very nice and spacious. The community is conveniently located and super close to highway 40.

Love this place. It's beautiful and perfect for coastal living. I love that I can walk to Lowes Foods and Dunkin Donuts! So awesome. My kiddos also love the playground. Thank you Hawthorne!

My fiancé and I moved into Hawthorne at Murrayville in 2012 when our building was brand new. We were the very first tenants in our unit, so obviously everything was in pristine condition. The appliances are great and lighting fixtures are really nice - light bulbs do burn out constantly however. The walls are extremely fragile - any slight bump will cause some sort of damage, but they're not very thin. I can hardly hear neighbors except for when I'm near a window or door. The neighbors are constantly bumbling up and down the stairs, talking loudly at all hours of the night. The office is usually pretty helpful; for a while they seemed very disorganized and employees were always coming and going, but the staff seems pretty stable now. The rent was a great price when we first moved in, but has gone up every year since and doesn't seem appropriate anymore. The amenities are okay - there's a nice gym and pool, but I hardly ever use either. There's also a dog park which is useless to me.

I needed a wheelchair-friendly apartment near my family. I visited 3 such apartments, and was most impressed with the one at Hawthorne at Murrayville! This not only had all of the accessibility features that I needed, but was the most attractive. The entire complex is landscaped beautifully, has great amenities and the staff is warm and extremely helpful. Since this apartment was actually located nearest my family, I feel sure that I was meant to live here :-)
I recently moved to the Hawthorne and I love it! The apartment is great, the facilities are very well kept, and the people are very friendly!
Hawthorne at Murrayville is conveniently located right off I40. The grounds are very well maintained, with palm trees to remind you you're in a beach town, and azalea bushes that are representative of the annual Azalea Festival in Wilmington. The complex includes a large pool adorned with lounge chairs, grilling area, and fire pit for those cooler nights when you want to relax with friends. Hawthorne at Murrayville is also very animal friendly, with a pet-run, and private pond surrounded by a walking trail. From the staff, to the complimentary Starbucks and breakfasts every Friday, this complex provides a little piece of mind!
I rented this apartment without even seeing it. I just saw the floor plan and spoke to them over the phone and got a move in date. I did this from their website. I am going on my fourth year here and we are a community that is pet friendly, child friendly, and has a very diverse community of single, married, young, retired, and disabled like myself. We all get along and if an issue does come up the office staff is quick to take care of it and they are all so helpful and like able. I always hate when managers get promoted but it doesn't take long to like the new manager. Also, I believe we have the best maintenance crew I have ever seen. I have only had to call them maybe three times my whole time here but they know what they are doing and they take care of business. I feel very safe walking my service dogs and I never hear loud music played. As people come and go I always seem to have good neighbors. We are sociable in coming and going or in emergencies or parties at the club house but when at home we are not disturbed. When routine maintenance is to be performed the office gives plenty of notice so pets can be secured. I really love it here and I love the staff and neighbors so I would certainly love to live here for the rest of my life! Come join us and find the relaxed atmosphere. I always recommend riding through the community and talking to residents (more than one) before making a final decision but I am very difficult to please and I am really happy here. I am close enough to go shop but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of it all.
