Hawthorne Commons

Maintenance issues are awful. It generally takes 2 or 3 requests to get something fixed. They do not keep dog poop bags filled or the trash dispensers for dog poop bags emptied and they overflow and are disgusting. Fairly regularly the trash dumpster area is so full of trash that won't fit in the dumpster it overflows on to the sidewalk. Then trash blows cross parking lots and onto backyards where it sits. You just feel like you're walking around a bunch of trash in this apartment.

I just moved in with my spouse and the staff was very understanding with the circumstances of our travel. They are very accomodating so far and I am looking forward to living here.

The grounds in Phase 2 are a mess. There is garbage everywhere, as well as traffic comes and shopping carts. I sent in a request and was told it was complete, which is a complete lie.

It’s a good apartment complex but maybe a bit more tentative maintenance. It takes a while to get something fixed. Better rules for pet owners and maybe a few more lights. Gets very dark. All in all still a good place to live.

Clean and quiet residence. Prompt responses to emails and to service requests. The complex is pet friendly and the common areas are always tidy.

The management on property is terrible. There is no communication from the manager and the staff turn over is a few months. There are ladders and siding that have been laying around for 2 years. The BBQs and firepit have also not worked for 2 years.

I am happy to live and share with the outstanding neighbors in this community. The easy communication is one of the characteristics I noted these few days I have been living here

Not bad but it takes months just to fix one simple thing. We’ve spent the whole summer without AC. Definitely needs better maintenance and communication.

Love it here. The community is amazing. The apartments are nice and spacious. Plenty of places to shop and to walk. Not far from Salem downtown. Very quiet and peaceful.

I am a new resident but so far it's very nice. The neighbors are friendly and the rooms are spacious. It's quiet and safe, perfect for families.

Clean. Always parking available. Quiet. Pet friendly. The pool area is really clean and looks like a little vacation getaway. Most residents seem friendly.

Everyone there has been so helpful and nice! The apartment was very clean when we showed up and in great condition. For a short term rental couldn’t ask for a better place

When I first moved in landscaping was beautiful. It is but at 4 First Street the rear of buildings grass not repaired, used to have flowers around all entrances etc. Even found flower pots at pool with just weeds growing. No working grills or fire pits at 205 highland or 4 first street! Maintenance is still on top of needs!

So far it's what we thought it would be a great place to call home. So far everyone we have met have been real nice from residents to staff in the office

I feel safe living here and it’s nice to have snow removal during the winter if necessary. It would be nice if there were more maintenance attention paid to the lower level apartments. The grass and ground was very torn up by construction. The fences on the back of the first street apartments have a lot of space beneath them making it easy for larger animals to get onto the property. In addition, I cannot use my air conditioning without resetting the breakers multiple times. There also doesn’t seem to be a lot of intention with fixing certain issues. The construction done recently made it much more difficult to reach certain spots on your porch without a high ladder. There are also still a lot of nails and screws and construction debris in and around the ground near the apartments. Considering what we pay to live here, it seems like these would be issues more quickly taken care of. Especially considering the amount of animals and children running around the place.

Love apartment! Road at bottom of hill is frequently traveled and cars can be super loud. But nice people and place. Maintenance is the best!

Upkeep of the property is terrible. Replacing the siding took 2 summers, it still hasn't been cleaned up. The BBQs in phase 2 have not worked on 2 years. There is constantly garbage that is left around, and 3 vehicles with flat tires have been in the parking lot for several months.

It had been a long time since I had rented so when I sold my house I had 2 change my perspective on my needs. I'm what I call semi-disabled and I knew three things 1)Peace 2) Pet Friendly 3) Reasonable rent! I found all three and more since I've moved in and have met many people and made many friends since moving here. The Maintenance team led by Michele (sp) are very attentive and polite! The office management staff are very attentive, friendly, and professional! James has assembled a great team around him and they all deserve all the credit! Ps Almost forgot the morning ritual to have a person walk the entire footprint to pick up little bits of trash. Pss almost forgot to mention they have been upgrading all the units as well. I'd recommend anyone to live here as you also get all the amenities that you'd get in a condo association!

Good place to live…very safe, usually quiet. There’s a pool, two dog parks, a fire pit and a gym. Not bad for highland ave. Good parking, close to market basket plaza.

I just moved in a few days ago. Seems like a great place to live. Heaven tried to gym yet or the pool area. Looking forward to taking advantage of all the amenities

I enjoy living at Hawthorne Commons. Rent hasn't increased too much and the community is nice. The place is dog friendly which is excellent

Staff is amazing! Clean and quiet complex. Trash and recycling are easily located. Parking is always available for myself and guests. I really enjoy it here.

We just moved in so don't have a lot of experience yet. The staff has been wonderful and very patient. The apt is lovely and the grounds look well cared for.

Love the location. Super quiet! Leasing office is always very helpful. maintenance team is the best always prompt and friendly. These reasons are why I renewed my lease!!!

Great, neighbors are very respectful and quiet. Which a lot of people may not like but definitely enjoy the peace. I love that the sunset sets right in front of my apartment so I get the beautiful sun every afternoon in my living room

I love that it allows dogs of all sizes and inside my apartment is nice. But the property as a whole is not worth the price and is definitely not luxury. The grounds are not maintained; a construction project that took 2 years has resulted in equipment and damaged property (fences and torn up grounds). The dog park and BBQ area in phase 2 is a mess. The BBQ and fire pit have not worked in over 2 years because the propane company hasn't been replaced. The garbage compactor area is disgusting.

I've only moved in a day ago and the staff in the management office are fabulous to work with and accommodate your request as best as possible. Im really liking how quiet the neighbourhood is as I was recently living downtown and every night was unpredictable and loud. I cant wait for warmer weather so I can try the pool out. Hope you enjoy your experience too.

I’m loving the place, everything run smoothly. First and foremost the place is cozy and friendly. My neighbors are very polite and nice. The apartment speaks for itself

So far everything been good, I been a resident for a few days now and I’m happy, floors are really nice is really quiet and I like that. Really happy with my home.

Very nice staff and plenty of socials and pet friendly socials. Community is very friendly and respectful. It is a very nice place to live and it is also a very calm place to live as well.

Great place to live. Wishing the old incentives were back like random ice cream truck, sandwich truck and different community attractions . Other than that this is a great place to live

A nice quiet community with almost everything nearby! Everything is clean and there are dog pick up stations. The staff is also very helpful!

Maintenance is exceptional. Neighbors are quiet and respectful. Pet friendly makes the overall experience more positive person will most likely renew my lease.

It’s been great. I have been here for two years and never had any issues. Office staff has been understanding and helpful. Maintenance is quick and efficient. My apartment is beautiful and I feel safe.

Management and maintenance have gone downhill and it seems like you have to ask for or have something done twice or 3 times before it is correct.. The landscaping is a mess due to construction and they are not fixing it. Recently saw rats several nights in a row.

Very nice community with respectful and kind neighbors! I do wish they had more lights around the property and that more parking would be available but other than that it’s pretty great!

This has been fantastic. We moved across the Country and they worked with us to get us a beautiful apt. When we hit a rough patch, they were patient with us. I recommend Hawthorne to anyone.

I am very happy to be a resident of Hawthorne Commons. The staff is amazing and very attentive. My apartment is great and I have to say my favorite thing is the amount of sunlight I get everyday. There are only a few things I would suggest is some type of play area for the kids, maybe a park and also a community room for the residents.

John, the resident manager, is amazing. Unfortunately he is the only one who is able to get anything done. The value for the price is terrible.

I absolutely love ?? living here! People are great and so responsive to any feedback. If you have any in home stuff to be fixed it's quick and easy. Pet friendly and lots of perks and events to drive community feel.

This place has been so far amazing. The community has been very welcoming. It always seems to be very clean. The first day that both myself and my boyfriend had moved in you can tell they deep cleaned the entire apartment. The staff here is very nice and always does their best to make sure your needs are met. So far so good!

Everyone has been very welcoming here thus far. We've only been here 8 days, but Hawthorne Commons already feels like home to us. The scenery here is absolutely beautiful and the people are all very nice for the most part. The facilities are all clean, and there is a lot to do in this area as well. I hope to stay here for a lengthy amount of time.

We love it here so far and the office staff has been extremely helpful :) Nice amenities and quiet, just wish the fitness center was a bit bigger lol

Wish they would work with the residents that want to stay and live here but that unfortunately it's not the case with this address and complex. If you fall even just a month behind and let them know like you're supposed to it doesn't matter they start the eviction process immediately and the notice to quit.

Extremely happy with the experience I’ve gotten! Everyone is very nice and helpful being new to the complex!! Coming in to a very well deep cleaned apartment was also amazing

Great place to live. The amenities are awesome, great location and great staff.. The pool area is Definetly a great place to be in the summertime

We moved nearly 2000 miles so it was daunting and we had a million questions. Kingsley and the whole team was patient, answering every question out of the million we had. We knew exactly what to expect when we got here. So far, it's better than we could have hoped.

The property is not well kept; there is garbage all over the property. The propane has not been in service for almost a year. This is not a luxury property.
