Property Ratings at Hawthorne Garden
I don't even know where to start with this place... ummm ok so moldy bathroom? Check! Bed bug infestation? Check! Rude office workers? Check! Dirty laundry room? Check! No heat when it's cold out? Check! No snow plows? Check! Turn the water off whenever they want with no advance notice? Check check check check check!
I have never had the displeasure of dealing with a group of incompetent, rude, disrespectful office staff in all my years of renting. It is deplorable that they are getting away with this kind of behavior. The supers- Lazy is an understatement. No response to request for repairs. they are ignored. Supers say call the office, the office says tell you super... the office says the supers are lazy and dumb... sadly i find the office staff to be the same. The apartments themselves are nice but if you live on the 2nd floor you have to a contortionist to get through the front door with any bag or packages. People don't clean up after their dogs. No accommodations for a "dog friendly" garden apartment- maybe some baggy dispensers or a fenced in area for them. I'm sure they could use some of that "non refundable deposit" to put some bag dispensers around the grounds. Parking is a nightmare- not enough spots. Snow removal is a joke (on the sidewalks) Landscapers are rude, lazy and just blow dirt all over the place. other than that it's a great place to live HAHA
God forbid you ever have to call management. These people are SOOO RUDE!! They will scream at you, not let you speak and try to manipulate you into paying for fees you dont have too. Make sure you know your rights as a renter. IF YOU CHOOSE A SECOND FLOOR BE PREPARED TO PAY TO CARPET THE WHOLE FLOOR OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET!! THEY WILL COME TO INSPECT MORE THAN ONCE!! It smells like weed EVERYWHERE...People are so ODD here and not friendly at all! This is a so called "pet friendly" place. But they will complain if your dog barks!! aummmm totally ridiculous. They are soooo money hungry that anything they can charge extra for they will. AVOID this place!!!
First off, this place just went down hill. It smells like weed eveywhere so if you have kids this is not the place for you. They are super expensive for the cheap quality they offer. Management is Extreamly rude!!! No people skills what so ever! Oh and if you plan to live upstairs you have to place 80% carpet at your own expense! Because your neighbor will complain about hearing your steps. For nothing because their cheap floors will still make noise. Pry you don't have a bad neighbor. Be aware they will try anything to keep money from your deposit!!! Oh and in the winter people go crazy with the parking spots. Mind you they are no assigned parking spots but those living there for years act like they own the spots. This place is a mess... do yourself a favor a look for a place that is worth your money because this place is not!!!
I live in the hometown I love. It's a train ride to Manhattan. It's a nice Garden Apartment in a complex with friendly people. It's pet friendly and has a great balcony. The Super stays up on things and is very friendly. Even though it was built in the 1960's it has an open floor plan and feels nice and airy. Diversified people, young and old, people of color live here too. It's a little world by itself. I would like to continue to live here if possible.
