I have lived here for almost 7 years and it’s been a great experience overall. Office staff has changed a bit over the years but everyone has always been super nice! Maintenance is honestly fantastic and what makes this place great! Mark has been here since I moved in and if the apartment has any issues he’s on top of it! Thank you guys for making this place feel like home, I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon!

Well landlords change every 3 months, you can never get rid of the roaches, takes them awhile to fix anything, don’t get me wrong they will fix it but at their convenience,(it’s a patch job till it breaks again) the front desk is extremely nice but that’s the only nice thing about this place, people are loud, cops are always there, don’t go at night, you will get robbed, and people be shooting around the apt. Its a start if your broke, but if you have the money don’t stay here, you will regret it

Multi-year resident. Abysmal management team - typically unresponsive and rude/threatening if they do respond. Insufficient pest control, and no follow-through on basic maintenance requests (broken stove, non-working smoke detectors), and almost weekly notifications of water supply issues to the buildings. Location is the only thing this complex has going for it.

We rented for one year here. No problems really other than a roach infestation, occasional cold showers, pool noises, and homeless people squatting in the laundry room. It was after moving out that there was an issue. They kept almost all of our deposit ($360 of $450) for “cleaning” and charged us for a sink handle that was never fixed while we were there. We have video proof of the condition we left the apartment in, as well as the maintenance request that was never tended to. When contacting them about this and seeking mediation, they stopped all contact with us, never attended our mediation appointment, and withdrew the remaining balance ($90) owed to us. I have never dealt with a complex so untrustworthy before, and I would strongly recommend anyone looking to rent here to go elsewhere. The low rent might seem appealing, but their move-out conduct is appalling, especially if they know you’re moving out of state.

My apartment is very run down and was not ready to be rented out at all. I have an extreme roach problem, and yes the office does send someone to spray my apartment when i leave a service request, but less than a week later its crawling in roaches again, they even painted over a dead roach on a closet door and left it there. My bedroom window leaks like crazy inside when it rains and bugs get in. My kitchen cabinets were covered in green, fuzzy and black mold and i have some cabinets falling apart. One bathroom door doesn't close, the bottom is swollen. 2 other doors also have problems closing, the caulk was placed very sloppy and i had to fill holes myself with caulk where bugs got in. I used to get thousands of ants in my bathroom that came in through holes in my bath tub, which i had to fill with caulk. My laundry closet doors don't close completely. The resurfacing on my bathroom counter is rubbing off. My a/c had such a tiny filter that it just fell over, i had to buy one myself. Im sure there is more things im forgetting. I really dislike living here.
I hired a cleaning service to clean my apartment and I emailed a copy of the invoice to the leasing office and they still kept part of my dep for cleaning and when I asked about it they said no one looks at the apt they just charge everyone $75 whether you clean it or not.
I literally cannot stand this place. I moved here from San Angelo. And that’s always the hardest part. Moving from a Far distance. This place is in my opinion photo bait. The kitchen amenities is NOTHING as it is in the picture. The management is honestly terrible. I have had A/C issues Since I’ve moved in ! The guys “came to fix it” but when it said it was 86 all they said was the AC looks perfectly fine. Mind you I’ve put in numerous work orders in for my A/C and they have still yet to full on fix the issue. If I could I would move from this place immediately and not think about coming back. DO NOT LIVE HERE.

Horrible management that talks to you sarcastically, condescending, and I’ll skills to handle complaints or issues needing fixing. This place in the 2 years I’ve been here has gone downhill very fast. Not to mention the area is filled with loud zooming cars and all you hear is loud noises all hours of the night! They way maintenance requests are handled here are horrendous! Roach infested, A/C unit is filthy and unmaintained, saracastic notes from maintenance men as well. Not to mention someone being shot here just last year too! Do not rent here if at all possible! Once I near the end of my lease I will be departing ASAP!

We would love the opportunity to speak with you personally so that we can address and resolve all of your above concerns. We do have a 24-48 turn around time on all requests; we do offer all of our residents pest control on a weekly basis- we just have to schedule it for you. Please give us a call at the leasing office so that we can change your experience to a better one! We look forward to speaking with you.
Took a tour today of a 2 bed 2 bath that matched the floor plan that I was interested in. The smell of urine along the side walk, the old wood catwalk that seemed like it would crack beneath my feet, the stench of the roach bomb that filled the apartment, and the roach I saw in the bathroom, did not leave a positive impression on me. I wanted to tell whoever was about to sign the lease to RUN!!!! It is sad that the prices of apartments are not worth what they charge. Seems like all the apartments in the medical area are old, outdated, over priced, and infested. If the website says the apartment is available, it should mean I can go and look at that exact apartment BEFORE paying $50 to fill out an application. Not wait until you have a prospect to pest bomb, paint, and replace carpeting. I would have been pissed if I was the one moving into that unit. I would have demanded a refund and a lease cancellation.
It's been a problem since I moved in. Lease issues with NO help from management,my toilet runs and shower drips (you pay for water), peeling paint, carpet smelled like animals when I moved in (steam cleaned the again), loud neighbors, broken down cars in the parking lot, no gate, stray cats everywhere (terrible pee smell at your front door) So far the kindest, most helpful people who follow through are maintenance. Can't wait til my lease is up!
Nice area, the 603 bus is right in front of the apartment. Gas station is right in front as well as down the street and HEB is not that far either. The area is the only thing that will get people to want to live here. Been here almost a year and our dishwasher falls out whenever we pull out a drawer filled with dishes to dry, not to mention it doesn’t work so we have to wash dishes by hand.(I don’t mind just thought it would’ve been nice to have a working dishwasher that does not try to crush me for the year.) constant problems with my AC not working, batteries died and no one came in to help us replace them after calling for months. We had to replace our own filter as well. Now that’s summer has begun, the AC is constantly at 89 degrees even when it’s set at 73. My dog has to endure this when I’m not home. It took them 1 month, 3 phone calls (to request a work order) then me having to march down to the office myself just to have them say “There was no work order put in.” to finally have maintenance come by and poke my thermostat screen (it’s not a touch screen, by the way) then say the outside unit died and “you should’ve called sooner”. The water (hot, or just the water altogether) has been shut off several times during this year lease without notice. I’ve had to shower and use water bottles to rinse off shampoo due to this water being shut off. Water pipes will rattle (not sure if this is all buildings or just mine) when trying to wash your hands in both bathroom sinks, even the neighbors sinks too so you know when everyone’s washing their hands. Bugs (dead and alive) will come flying from the kitchen fan whenever you turn it on so don’t turn it on while cooking. (Ironically) I’m really excited to move into my new apartment at a new location not that this lease is coming to an end.
Highlights of our 1 1/2 years at Hearthstone: -Property manager trying to sue us over damage in our unit caused by their own pipes -Coming home on Easter Sunday to find a homicide investigation vehicle at the building next to ours, then finding a CSI vehicle at a different building about a week later -Downstairs neighbor's apartment being broken into twice in one week - one time, having his door kicked in -Our car broken into in broad daylight and over $500 of stuff stolen from it -Cockroaches dive-bombing into my food as I cook it and infesting every square inch of the apartment -Ghetto residents brawling in the parking lot at all hours of the day or night -Calling the police approximately twice a month over gunshots at night from a neighboring building -No courtesy officer or security despite the office and website claiming they have one -Hidden charges in the lease, and wording that basically says they can leave you with broken appliances in your apartment for 6 months and you're not allowed to get them fixed or break your lease -Lost my medical paperwork I had to go through a hassle to get because it's a "filing requirement" just so they would replace my AC unit -Tried to evict us for having a full-size washer and dryer in our unit despite the lease not saying anywhere that it's not allowed (yeah, we won that battle) -Everyone in the office is grumpy, new property manager Lindsey hides in the back so she never has to help anyone, and office staff acts like it's a burden to have to fetch your packages when they are the ones who require the carriers to leave them there -Expensive renters insurance forced on you -Overpriced rent for poor infrastructure, broken appliances and apartments that haven't been remodeled since the 1980's -Didn't even feel safe walking my dog during broad daylight due to crime and trashy characters loitering around -Frequently cut off water several days a week with no warning or indication of when it will be back -People here are so petty and ghetto they will literally steal anything, like shoes and fishing poles. -Frequent construction outside your bedroom window, including chainsaws blaring, at 8:30 in the freakin' morning -Require that you pay rent online through their stupid dysfunctional app that charges you fees for doing so -Maintenance never comes to fix anything People are flocking out of here by the dozens. By the time we left we were one of the only people in our entire building still there. Avoid at all costs!
I'm a single mom of 3 kids. This community is perfect. It's quiet, we can walk outside to throw the trash away and not feel scared or worried. Everything is close by and well lit at night. The apartment itself is spacious, nice updates such as the all black appliances and fake wood flooring. Ceiling fans are updated with a brushed silver look. I love it. I don't have any complaints. I did have a couple maintenance issues in the very beginning that were fixed so quick. Definitely recommend living here.
My wife and I have lived here for almost a year, although we are very close to lawfully breaking our lease. It might just be our building, as opposed to the complex, but we keep losing hot water. It may sound so minor, but when we lose all warm and hot water for almost 3 weeks in December, and January, and continually keep losing them random day after day, it pisses me off. There are many days my wife and I had to shower at our gym and at our workplaces. Day after day for 6 months, this has occurred. I absolutely detest taking cold showers, but that is what this apartment is making me do. I have sent them a certified letter saying it is illegal. “According to the San Antonio Code of Ordinances Chapter 6 Article IV Section 6-52, Hearthstone must be able to provide water at a temperature of at least 110° F. Furthermore, according to the Texas Statute Property Code Title 8 Chapter 92 Section 92.052, it is the landlord’s duty to provide means to supply hot water a minimum temperature of 120° F.” And of course, no response from them. Now I don’t know what their problem is. But to anyone reading this, I would be very wary about signing a lease with this complex. As I said before, it might just be my building (Building 9). But there’s my rant.
Wonderful apartment complex! I have lived here for a year and am in the process of moving into a bigger unit with another year lease. They do work with broken leases and paid off evictions - you may just need to put down more to move in. I found this apartment through an apartment finder group due to my previous rental history after divorce. I have NEVER had problems with the office staff. Every time I have had an issue, they have been kind and willing to work with me to get it resolved. Just remember to treat the staff how you would want to be treated ;) The maintenance crew is wonderful - I had some issues with my air conditioning and when the guy came to fix it, he noticed I needed an aerator on my bathroom faucet and did it for me without asking. Sounds so simple but meant a lot to me because he cared. All my other issues have been resolved in a timely manner. Units are kept clean, grounds always are kept clean. It is quiet. Most people think apartment complex and think of it being noisy but that definitely isn't the case. The pool is pretty awesome, too! It isn't unusual to see families out there BBQing. They will even invite you to join them while you are out there. I have never used the laundry facility there - I have always used a laundry mat up the road with high capacity washer and dryers but the ones on site looked nice/clean.
I reported issues with my AC multiple times during the summer. They kept saying it was fixed but I never saw any improvement. They also refused to send someone out while I was home so I could review the issue with Maintenance. Ignored an online submission for an issue with my stove that posed a fire hazard. Final straw? I warned them up front I was an intern for a local company and could not be sure I would be there a full 6 months as I knew ahead of time I'd be placed in another city when I finished the internship. I was told to go ahead and sign the lease, that they were very generous with working with students and interns. LIARS... I contacted them about needing to leave early and their response? Either pay the remainder of the lease contract OR pay the remainder and a penalty for breaking the lease... VERY generous considerations indeed. I sure hope anyone considering this place would make sure they can stay the whole time, DO NOT expect them to work with you, even if they give their WORD or PROMISE. Call me old school, but that used to mean something.
Love my apt, BUT, it could use major makeover. The office staff is very courteous and have never had an issue w/them. Location is convenient. The only issue I have is that in the 5 yrs that I have been there, turnaround is tremendous. I wish the people there would just respect other people's property. And parking is bad. I have been "issued" a space, but of course no one respects the sign posted. That's it! Thank you!
This apartment complex is nestled behind large trees, on the slope of a hill, like a sleepy little village in a quiet forest. The apartments are spacious, very up to the minute appliances and details. W/D optional in your unit. Brand new swimming pool and even a work out room! It's the cutest little village I've ever lived in! Great for families with children and pets! Come to the forest on Cinnamon Creek!
