I would rate 0 stars if I could. I consider my choice to move to the Oaks off Heatherwood was among the worst decisions I have ever made. It might have been the worst bc it really impacted my life in a negative way. The fact is pure & simple: Management treated me terribly & certainly gave off the vibe that they could care less about tenants. Their standard lease is unbelieveable. They actually ITEMIZE different ways they can charge the tenant $$ that is very unfair. Once you sign, you are DOOMED. I plan to openly & honestly share my experience at The Oaks here shortly. For now, consider this a big warning to just look at the next apartment complex. I have been a life long renter. I could never conceive that a property like the Oaks could treat tenants so poorly. That's exactly what they did to me. Beyond unacceptable. I didn't realize until I moved out that living at The Oaks had an enourmously negative on my life. It really did. I am being honest 100%. If they could have just been SORTA DECENT, I maybe would not have had these negative impacts on my life from the Oaks. I live at a different apartment now that's less expensive and infinitely better. The building foundation also has major problems. The building is sinking into the ground. They are in the process of trying to 'rehab' the Units. I view this as a minimal effort to significantly increase rent prices; VERY Similar to slapping a coat of paint on a broke down old car & saying it fixed the whole car, engine included. It's honestly just not worth the life impacting negativity. More to follow....
TRASH. I would rate 0 stars if I could. I have lived here for two months. When I moved in, all the keys they gave me, to the building, my mail, etc. DID NOT WORK. They closed the office so I was stuck in the rain with my moving truck and my family until I got a tenant to help me. I then had to copy my own keys, that they never reimbursed me for so I could actually access the building. For two months, I have not had access to my storage locker. The room is always locked, which it is not supposed to be, and the one time it was open, I found someone else is using my locker with a padlock on it. I tried contacting management through email and phone a surplus of 10 times over this month with absolutely no reply. The management is heartless, careless, never in the building, and completely incompetent. I cannot wait until my lease is up.

In the 4 years I have lived there, my rent has gone up $200 and they have not done a single thing to my apartment. Carpeting is filthy. Appliances are old. Walls are thin. Difficult to talk to on-site manager because they are never there. Underground parking is dirty and expensive for what you get. Very limited outside parking. Washers and dryers are old and break down frequently. This place has been going downhill steadily for some time and I am moving out.

I lived at the Oaks of Heatherwood for a little over a year. They do a fantastic job maintaining the outside of the facility. I can't say the same for the inside. When I first moved in the smell of the hallways was automatically off putting. Then when I did my walk through it was apparent the apartment hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. The edges of the carpet were dirty, there was hair everywhere, and there was a dirty diaper under the sink in the bathroom. Because I had a short timeline before I started my job I took the apartment anyway, even though it is a little more expensive than what you really get for the apartment. After this I never really had a problem. My key broke in my lock and I was only locked out of my apartment for 1 hour until the maintenance person finally got me back into my apartment. Come spring time I went to turn on my air conditioning unit and it didn't work. I sent the property manager an email and she wouldn't respond to me. Finally two weeks later on a 90 degree day I called her and only then did they finally replace my A/C unit. Later in the spring I started to have an ant problem in my apartment. I never left food out and my apartment was clean. I even bought ant traps, but they never seemed to go away. Finally the day came where I got to move out! I cleaned my apartment thoroughly and ended up finding a condom wrapper under the vent from the previous owner. I was disgusted. I set up a walk through before moving out to make sure I wasn't getting any deductions form my security deposit for things that weren't my fault. The property manager never showed up. I went to her office and just left my keys there. I'm so glad to be done with this place. I would not recommend living here.

Fist of all, I love the common areas, how it is surrounded by trees, the building is well maintained, the staff and the manager are incredibly helpful. The apartment overall is just perfect, spacious and truly an amazing apartment. Love how peaceful and quiet it is at nights. I am glad I chose this apartments to live!!
