Property Ratings at Helix
New resident here at Helix and the staff have been so welcoming. In addition to having such wonderful staff the community is located next to all the shops and restaurants. This apartment is Elegant, clean, and super accommodating. Highly Recommend Helix!
I just moved here about 2 months ago and so far I love it! The staff is so friendly and my neighbors are pretty cool. I love the location as I work right here in Greenbriar, I can’t wait for everything to open up! Highly recommend living here!
Just moved out recently and being the 1st person the apartment was amazing. Very modern and luxurious, office staff was great. If i did not get military orders, most likely would not have moved out.
Reason number 1, this place is way too expensive to be dealing with all the unnecessary drama. Reason number 2 plain and simple do not and I repeat do NOT move here! Reason number 3, sure it's nice on the outside but the structure of this place is horrible on the inside. Like the other reviews have said the floors and walls are super thin so you will hear every thump, jump, another persons conversation through the bathroom vent! I SHOULD NOT BE HEARING A CONVERSATION WHILE I'M IN THE BATHROOM! Also I really feel the need to address this since no one has done so yet, and maybe this will trigger a nerve, but it must be said. If you have children that are of a certain age you really should consider living on the lowest floor possible, because it is not fair for the ones who live below you to have to endure the sleepless nights of running, jumping, screaming etc. YES children need to play, jump around and get some of that energy out throughout the day and that is perfectly fine! But after a certain timeframe things simply need to simmer down and YOU as the parent need to handle it without getting offended, because if the tables were turned you would be annoyed as well.
I have lived at Helix since the beginning of the year and it is the WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX I HAVE EVER LIVED IN. I will wait until I move out to go to every single website, ever single blog, ever social media account and let everyone know to STAY AWAY. This has nothing to do with the staff or amenities etc. The staff is very friendly, helpful and just great people. They are the only reason I will wait to do all i can to keep everyone away from this hell hole. The reason is simple THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN and you HAVE ZERO PRIVACY PERIOD !!!! I dont want to hear "This is apartment living" etc....I have lived in many and these are the thinnest most cheaply built walls of ALL FREAKING TIME. You have no privacy. Imagine your walls being a bug screen door or better yet a bed sheet. If you share a wall you will hear every single word your neighbors say AT A NORMAL LEVEL. If someone has the tv on its as if it is in your room. The staff can write back their standard "We are sorry to hear blah blah and we will do all we can blah blah" but the fact is YOU CAN NOT REBUILD THE WALLS. Stay away from this place and again the staff are amazing individuals and it is not their fault and they do all they can for the residents BUT YOU WILL HAVE NO PRIVACY. Oh and if you want to have relations with a significant other, your neighbors will hear every single breath. The walls are a joke and i have no clue how they were built to code bc if that is the case THE CODE NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. Stay away and if you have a fully remote job, you will quit or be fired bc you will not get anything done if you have a neighbor bc at Helix your neighbors might as well be your roommates !!!!
Helix is definitely one of the prettiest communities I have seen so far! They have great features inside of the apartments and used the space well making sure to add in enough storage in their studios. The construction noise is a bit much at first but you do start to not notice it. Once they are all done building you can tell it will be a peaceful location. The team in the office as well as maintenance are so nice and do a great job!
This place is gorgeous. The apartments are nice. But we can’t expect a perfect bubble. This building is home to dog owners(dog bark) families(kid/kids laugh and play)retirement older folks who are very kind and single people who enjoy life(have friends over). It’s not perfect by any means but you’re paying for quality and so far the quality is worth it. There’s no other place in Chesapeake where your going to get the same brand new feel, card entry, FREE parking garage with card entry as wells , gym, clubhouse, roof clubhouse, small but doable dog park, the location to grocery stores, restaurants and bars all around and hotels for family coming to town. Also it’s right next to the highway entrance going west, east and south. Also it’s very close to Chesapeake city park, it has everything for every type of renter. I love my apartment
Awful. Upon moving into the new apartment, I was told that this would be a perfect place to live as a hard-working single individual. I was told that the community would be properly run and that the entire complex was luxury made. The walls are absolutely paper-thin; you can hear absolutely everything around you. From dogs barking to people playing loud, obnoxious music, to people hollering and fighting, it's dreadful. If you're a hard-working individual trying to find a place to live, do not pick this location if you value your sleep and sanity. The fact that the staff allows their community areas to be open 24/7 2 the residence is absolutely absurd. Anyone living near the upstairs clubhouse, or directly under it, I intensely feel sorry for you. The clubhouse has been used as nothing but a party pin allowing people to party on top of the balcony into the late hours of the morning. Hollering, screaming, playing loud music, and letting their children and pets run amok have caused an immense amount of disturbance within the community. This apartment complex unlivable.

As other reviewers have stated, the units in this apartment complex have EXTREMELY thin walls. Combine that with unruly neighbors at nearly all hours of the day, and you have free bass boosted music to listen to for most of your stay. If this was a concert hall, that would be alright, but if you want a place to live, relax, sleep, and otherwise be undisturbed, then you are not looking at a good, or even adequate place. The inside of the units are rather nice, but you cannot really enjoy staying in them if, for half of the day, you can actually FEEL vibrations throughout your entire unit coming from incredibly bassy sound systems of wannabe DJ's from the next unit over. And it does not end there. Beyond the music, you can hear everything from people's conversations if they use anything a smidge louder than their inside voice, to people hammering(?) in what I assume to be DIY projects, to people scrapping furniture across their floors, to people closing doors with a little force. Bottom line: the overall look of the units are nice, but that is to be expected of a building that is a little more than a year to two years old. If you live here longer than a week, you'll quickly discover who on your floor (and the floors above you) love to produce noise pollution due to the inadequately sound-proofed walls, floors, ceilings.

I have lived here for almost 3 months and I love the community. I love my apartment and the area, I am excited to have the restaurants come but there is still a ton of them to choose from. I think the staff is amazing as even through the covid they have still tried to offer events that require social distancing.

We are so glad to hear this, thank you so much for sharing!
Upon moving here there was a lot of excitement, but gosh were we in for a rude awakening. This place is not luxurious at all so don’t let the name fool you. We were told that this place would be quite and we wouldn’t hear much noise from neighbors but that was a lie! The walls are very thin we can hear our neighbors beside us walking all day and night. The neighbors above us listen to loud music all hours of the night especially when we are trying to sleep, which is so annoying. The staff are only going to do but so much, so they aren’t reliable. I could go on and on about why you shouldn’t move here. Don’t waste your time or money!

Not what you think Moving into new apartment exciting but VERY disappointed. Made a HUGE mistake. Dollar Tree apartments far from luxury. Building went up very fast and now we know why, very cheaply built. Walls and floors are paper thin, you can hear everything coming from several apartments above, below, sides and down the hall. Hear bedroom door open and close in the unit beneath us. Staff puts on a nice face but are fairly useless. Understand building is new and some things are not ready yet but staff has no desire to fix certain things. Dollar Tree has big plans for other buildings more apartments even hotel, very worried that much money will be wasted and many people deceived. Really hope Dollar Tree learns from mistakes and makes other buildings better. There is just too much about this apartment building that can’t be changed because of the way it was built. DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID.

Not as advertised This place will likely get better in some ways but it looks like it’s going to be a long road ahead with some bumps that can’t be smoothed out. Some of the staff seems great, some not so much. The lower floor looks nice, the apartment floors not so much. Although there are some highlights, the hallways and apartment doors are the same drab color giving the floors a very institutional feel. On the surface the apartments look nice but upon closer look there were some huge misses. Walls and baseboards are painted with the same color and there are flaws indicating that the spaces were developed very quickly with no attention to detail. Just a bit of crown and/or corner molding would have added a lot. The lower floor looks nice but a nice looking common room does not make these apartments luxury. Helix is advertised as having an Amazon hub and they do have package lockers however residents say they are for USPS only. It appears that the plan is to build another building exactly like helix next door and another structure closer to Executive Blvd, let’s hope a Dollar Tree can learn from its mistakes.

So far a great complex! It is brand new and the staff are absolutely wonderful and kind. Easy to get in and out of, spacious room and a parking garage attached. All appliances are new, COX wifi here works great and I expect Verizon will be the same.
