Property Ratings at Heritage Apartments
Lived here for a year. Apartment filled with mold and pipes that leak. Had mold and mushrooms growing on closet and management did nothing about it. They let me out of my lease and sent me on my way
People in the leasing office are liars. They gave me three wrong contracts with wrong information. The first room were full of cockroaches. After moving out, they have not refunded my deposit for more than one month until I called them several times!
Note: Now has new management since I was there, so inquire. BUT The apartments were not kept up well over the years. When I was living there there was water coming up through the garbage disposal whenever I washed clothes. The dryer also vented to the inside. Most of the surrounding tenants were irresponsible college kids that had no consideration for those around them. might be ok if you are also in college and parties outside at 3am don't bother you. So even with the new management, I doubt they are worth the money. The reason the reviews are probably ok is because is it mostly college kids that don't know different.
They lure you in with a beautiful website and then show you their models which are very well staged and adorable. They have all the extras like a pool, basketball court, workout facility and even a bar and hair salon. Our agent, Kristal, was very professional and reassuring that we would see the unit before moving in. We were told it was empty and was being turned over and we would see it soon. We paid the $30 app fee and the $300 hold fee. Days went by and we heard nothing. We made multiple calls to inquire about the unit. In the meantime, Kristal took a leave of absence. The last call we made we were told we could come and see the apartment. It was 10 days before move in. (if we didn't approve of this unit, we had little time to wait, choose and view another) I wish I had the name of the person who escorted us to the building, but she didn't even introduce herself as she was eating. The apt we chose was an interior unit. She took us up a creepy, neglected back stairwell vs the main, pretty wallpapered lobby entrance. I knew then that Heritage apts are not living up to all the hype. As you walk the dimly lit hall the odors range from those like a nursing home, urine or cooking..all very unpleasant. The unit had not been touched. It was a mess. Walls not painted, dirty carpet, mold around the tub and a filthy stove. Even the exterior door looked like a bear had clawed the paint. Naturally, we were confused and began asking what's the deal? Will it eventually look as nice as the model? This girl suddenly copped an attitude and couldn't answer our questions. So we asked if the property manager was available? She replied "I don't know". I asked "Can we find out?" She very curtly said "Well I don't know because I'm not there!" She took us back to the leasing office, jumped off the golf cart and was 20 feet ahead of us without a word. Office staff apparently don't have their Xxxx together because we weren't suppose to view the apt yet. The manager didn't even look up at us but shouted "it's still with construction!" No one apologized for the confusion, our waste of time or gas. Worst customer service ever! Big red flag. Aside from that, if you drive around the entire property, you'll see they can't keep up with maintaining the 1960's 600 units. Its very substandard. This place is not worth the rent they are asking. Go somewhere else! They refused to refund the $300 but at least we didn't fall into this trap by signing a lease.
Overall a lot of good things to it. Good heating and cooling, provides alot of services, solid parking, relatively cheap, and very close to the bus stop for OSU
My experience has been different from other individuals. I relocated to Columbus for work. Ashley is AMAZING! She treated me as if she really cared. That says a lot because so many other apartments treated me as if it was just a business. As if it was just about the money. Which I knew it was but at least make the potential tenant feel as if you care. Anyway, Ashley did just that. She cared. That goes a long way. You want someone to care. Period. The reason I say take what you see with a grain of salt, because everyone’s experience will be different. I have noticed people only give reviews when they want to shed light on the negative things. For me, that always set off a bulb in my mind when reading reviews. Also think about it, there’s about 600+ people living here, and you see a negative review from what... 10 people who have stayed here? I mean.. you can’t please everyone... I can’t say what did and didn’t happen for other individuals. I can vouch for my own experience. Fortunately, I didn’t experience some of the negative things that most people have experience. My experience has been positive thus far. But I remember looking at reviews and being very skeptical of sooooo many apartment complexes/communities because of the reviews. I think the best way to see if an apartment is the right fit for you, to visit & take a tour yourself. See for yourself. Don’t allow individuals behind a keyboard or phone decide where you will live. Take what they say with a grain or salt. Even take what I say with a grain of salt. I will say though, I enjoy living here. I work on campus, it’s a 20 min bus ride. 12 minute bike right, maybe 40 minute walk. Close to everything! It’s a good place to live for someone who is a young professional and don’t want to live on campus but want to stay close enough. Oh and did I mention, they do things for the residents allllll the time! I enjoy it. You don’t get this at every apartment community.

Lived here for a year, absolutely amazing apartment, area, and staff. Only downside was limited parking & high pricing. However, I would always prefer to pay more to live in a safer/cleaner/more professional area of Columbus.

Living at Heritage apartments hasn't been too bad! I share a one bedroom with my boyfriend and our dog and the size isn't as small as we thought which was great. Down side we weren't able to see the place we were going to live in until move in date so it was hard to plan. Our garbage disposal stopped recently and we called maintenance and they came 2 days after and fixed it for us and works perfectly again. The location is great and the people are nice! Not bad at all for the price either.
Reading reviews before I moved in had me a little nervous at what we were going to find. The apartment exceeded my expectations wildly. It is large and roomy, with plenty of space in the living room and the kitchen is much larger than kitchens I have had in my previous apartments. The pantry is the size of a walk-in closet which is fantastic. The area is usually very quiet, with the only exception being during Saturday football games, which is completely fine by me. The basement is finished and with our own washer and dryer down there it is very convenient. Two of the bedrooms are pretty large and having a master bathroom is a plus. The only downside of the place is it is a little dated in terms of insulation and the a/c unit can have a hard time with cooling the place down, especially when it is very hot and humid. I would recommend recent college grads to Heritage in a heartbeat as it is a young community with a friendly staff to me.
A little rundown appearance wise, but very timely maintanence and friendly staff
Definitely a great little community! There's a 24 hour gym and half basketball court included with your residency, and a tanning bed in the gym! Also love that there's a pool! There's a pizza place and a bar and grill on site too, and you get a discount for living in the community. It's our first apartment, and it's definitely been a great experience!
If you want The Ohio State University campus feel without the campus housing, Heritage apartments is the place to live. I love the crown molding and the hard wood floors throughout. Perfect apartment for roommates with pets as well! (My roommate and I have two cats and they love it here too!) With a 24 hour gym, free tanning and a large pool, this community is a great place to meet new friends and invite old ones over! A quiet apartment only minutes away from campus, perfect!
