Property Ratings at Heritage at Freemason Harbour
All of our appliances are having problems and trying to get someone to fix it takes several day. They falsely advertise a 48 maintenance guarantee. Clearly understaffed and overworked.
Management is non-existent. The bugs are disgusting. When we moved in, the place wasn't even cleaned. Apartments flooding are no stranger to this place, couldn't live in the apartment for a period of time, and wasn't compensated. No amenities for the price. Elevator smells like pee, plus its always broken. The stairwells are trashed. Trash is all over the parking lot. Dogs pee in the lobby, and dog poop is never picked up, so don't walk in the grass.
Apartments are not luxury. Multiple problems. Their rents prices are way too high. Trash everywhere. Garbage left out all over. Mail room isn’t even used as a mailroom. Stay away from this disaster. I regret it every day
Dirty lobbies and stairwells. I walked around the buildings and found gates that would not close, cooking grease on the stairs and trash pins overflowing. Very messy and lots dead yard bushes. Not luxury apartments and expensive.
We just moved from Boston to Norfolk and had an extremely smooth transition moving into the Heritage at Freemason. The apartments are spacious, clean and well-maintained in-between tenants, and the management team (Carlos, Carmen, etc.) are extremely amiable, communicative and helpful. Highly recommended!
We recently moved in and have been pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the front office. Any issue we had was handled almost immediately to our satisfaction. The unit is gorgeous and the community is friendly. The only downside is one parking space, but there is plenty of parking on the street.
Hi, I was a resident at Freemason from Nov 2014 to Feb 2017 while serving in the Navy in Norfolk, VA. JRK bought the apartments and since then maintenance, management, and cleanliness of the site has gone to the wayside. Some examples: trash left in the PO Box area for days, water bills being incorrect with late and delinquent fees, parking spots assigned to multiple people, not answering work orders, not answering emails of concern, and overall lack of correct information. I have lived in seven states and rented every time without any issues. PLEASE think twice before renting from Heritage. It is obvious that JRK is a large company solely looking to make a profit without caring for its residents.
Moved in Spring of 2016, everything was great until I went into the leasing office one day and saw no one familiar. We were not even told that new management was coming in. My car has been broken into TWICE. Every time a contractor comes, the leasing office allows them to park into my parking space. After my husband came back from deployment a lot of his coworkers moved into the complex with rates 3 and 400 dollars cheaper than ours, only to be told our rent would be rising by 100 if we signed a new lease. The new tenants are being given two parking spaces, including spaces that are already taken (including mine). I can't have the cars towed because the leasing office will not give me proof that the space is mine, I'm just given excuses and asked to wait until they move their car. Not to mention I've been waiting on a maintenance request to be fixed for a month now. The new neighbors are young and loud, nothing like when we first moved in. If you can get the cheap rate, move in, but do not be fooled into paying the higher rent to stay here
We move into this building in the Spring of 2016 and everything was great. However, shortly after we moved in, new management took over and everything started going downhill. The front office staff went from being very nice and responsive to dismissive and clueless. It appears that the new company does not know what its doing. Each time you go into the office, there is a new set of people working just as unprepared as the last. Also, they do not seem to know what they are doing in terms of billing, maintenance, security, and the overall treatment of the residents. I think the new management thinks that they can swoop in, update the apartments, and charge more rent just because a bunch of new apartment buildings have been built downtown recently. I think they forgot that you still need to operate a place that people want to live. They should get back to the basics, buy some security cameras to cut down on the theft, and then worry about updating the apartments.
Great location but this complex was taken over by a California company last fall and things have just gone downhill ever since! Lived here safely for many years but past 6 months have encountered vandalism to cars in the parking lot, undesirable neighbors who took advantage of a special the company ran to fill the place and you'll find that your same unit might be priced a lot higher than new residents moving in (like by hundreds a month??) Very little has been done to make current residents want to stay, unfortunately. Don't feel safe here anymore so we moved!!
This is the perfect location! It's in such a safe area, and it's walking distance to so many restaurants, entertainment and job opportunities. The apartments themselves are spacious and nice, but not particularly updated. I have encountered many problems dealing with the staff. You basically need to get everything in writing if you expect it to happen. Another plus is they offer military (among other) discounts!
