Property Ratings at Heritage Estates
The apartments look good from the outside but once inside it’s a whole different story. The appliances are super outdated and the stoves burners were crooked so it made it very hard to cook evenly. The shower pressure was crappy and as soon as you turned on the shower head you would hear a horrible squeaking sound. Along with that the windows don’t keep out cold air so the bedrooms were always freezing. The Patio was fine but the turf thing was gross and molding. The washers and dryers are old and the dryer barely dries your clothes in one cycle so you end up spending a fortune to dry one load. And don’t get me started on the management! As soon as we gave our notice that we were moving they became a nightmare. They aren’t accommodating to anything you ask of them and will scream at you if you ask for even the bare minimum. Honestly if I knew how this past year was gonna go between the inconveniences inside the apartment and issues with management I would have never signed the lease and would have found somewhere else to live. So please if you are considering to live here just don’t. I’m sure you could find another place that will not scream and treat you like you’re wrong all the time and that has way better amenities then this dump has.
This was my first apartment and I loved it. Right next to walking trails, a YMCA, and close enough to stores and shops, it was an ideal location. They redid the floors before I moved in so it is wood flooring, an open concept kitchen dining and living room, and there is was lots of storage space. Any service requests were acted on quickly and people were always nice. Overall caring people, great location, and nice facilities!
I only lived here for less than a year but I loved it! All of the staff were all very friendly and personable! The apartment was great ??! But snow removal was absolutely by far amazing and they were out there within an hour of it snowing taking care of snow removal, I really appreciated that!
Our experience at Heritage Estates was not very good. The apartment had poor ventilation and the unit consistently smelled of cigarette smoke. Unfortunately, management did nothing to correct the problem. There were also more than a normal amount of bugs throughout the complex. Lastly, we were scammed on our security deposit and rent money that was owed back to us. We were asked to move out early to accommodate their new renters (have our apartment cleaned, turn in our keys, and allow their maintenance team into our unit early) but then we were denied the rent money they agreed, in writing, to refund to us. When I called to inquire, I was shouted at by their office staff. They refused to honor the agreement they proposed and were extremely unprofessional throughout the entire ordeal even subtracting money from our security deposit to cover utilities for the days we had no access to our apartment. I would avoid this establishment as dealing with the management was frustrating and impossible. Regardless of your stance on a situation, it is never necessary to yell and degrade someone over the phone. There are much better and nicer places to live in the fox valley and the way management treats tenants is more than enough reason to consider living someone else.
This has been the worst living experience in my life. The apartments look decent front the outside but are trashy on the inside. Literally after almost a full year of being on the lease the send me a letter telling me I’m going to get my car towed because it wasn’t registered literally after having it for almost a year there. The office managers are lazy and don’t do anything and are very rude. They don’t help you at all and always have attitudes and are never willing to listen to anything you say and it’s just a sad situation. STAY AWAY there are much better options in the area for same price or cheaper for much better apartments. Me taking the time to write this entire review should let you know how bad this place is I could go on and on and on about the negative things with this place. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!
I am living there for almost 1 year. And I had problems with the laundry 3 times. The machines are very old and are staining my clothes and sometimes the dryer it is not working properly. I complained about it 3 times and they didn’t changed just “fixed” but still staining the clothes (and they are grease stains). My contract will end in the end of August and this problem happened now in June/July. Other problem that borders me a lot is the bugs inside the apartment! It is not normal, the apartments has bugs ALL THE TIME and I am always cleaning but I am always finding them! For that reason I am looking for other apartment!
I have lived in the place since last August. This past Thursday my hot water heater went out. Called immediately to the landlord as to which they had someone over right away. Great, right?! WRONG!!! My hot water heater got replaced the next the day. In the 11 in a half hour process it took to take out and replace, the maintenance man broke my furnace, openly admitting that it was his fault. In his defensive he did all that he could, besides call the main maintenance man to come look at it and to see if he had the part that he needed to be replaced on hand. So left with two space heaters to heat an almost 1000 square foot apartment and a fireplace to help as well, i was told see on Monday. Confused how this was gonna work with temperature in the negatives, my son, who is only 7, were left to sleep on the couch because the bedrooms were too cold to sleep in. Space heaters mind you are not meant to heat a place on a constant bases. Come Monday, today as I'm writing this, fed up with the lack of compassion to a very great tenant i wanted answers and action done. To my surprise I was told that they had the other part all along to fix my furnace, but since someone was too proud to call the other guy because of the mistake he had openly admitted he made i was out proper heat for four days. When I told that this was not right and unacceptable and that I will be going to talk to the landlord about this he beat me to it. Covering his own behind. I walked in... asking how I was gonna be credited for their mistake I was screamed at by a women I have never even seen before. Saying this was not their fault when indeed it was. I asked for them to own the mistake and fix it. Credit my electric bill, which mind you is gonna be sky high due to running the fireplace on the regular and the space heaters for four days. I was told with much attitude that they will look at it. I've have never been so upset by the lack of empathy this women was treating me with knowing that in these below zero temperatures and having a little one in here that what they did was not right at all. Oh and mind you, I still don't have hot water either. So inconclusion I would strongly avoid renting here. 2 space heaters...really? Pathetic. I will not be signing a new lease with them and I will be spreading this horrific experience with everyone I know. Shame on you for not talking responsibility till four days later.
Nice apartment pretty quiet, but they will nickel and dime you on move out. I was charged $40 dollars for nail holes in the wall, except, I never hung any pictures on the wall which came from the previous tenant. Also was charged $75 dollars for a screen that a brittle plastic piece broke off of from years in the sun on a southern exposure, thought that was caused by wear and tear. Just disappointed in that aspect to make an extra $100 on boughs items
Apartments are in a convenient location with easy access to Highway 441. The apartments are good in size and the vaulted ceilings open up the living room substantially. Some of the appliances are out-dated, but that comes with the age of the building. The office staff is helpful with any questions and concerns. The neighbors are fairly quiet and the area is a good residential neighborhood, with the middle school being right behind the entire complex, and the YMCA being nearby.
My wife and I moved in recently and loved the apartment. Everything was what we were looking for and more. Then the little annoying things started happening. The dishwasher had a malfunctioning detergent holder so we couldn't use it in the first two weeks of living there as the maintenance guy didn't work there day long. His set schedule didn't line up with ours so we had to wait to get that fixed. The free dish they offer is set up by some 3rd party that almost never has his phone on, so we had to wait to even contact him. At the time of this review, I still do not have tv which was a selling point for me on this apartment. The upstairs neighbors have no respect for us and they continue to pound around on the floor and wake us up on a daily basis. Other than that, the apartment itself is great.
The apratments I checked out were very clean and well kept! Very cozy and quiet. The landscape and lawns are kept us very nicely as well!
