This namesake town was originally the home of the first and oldest lighthouse in Michigan, Fort Gratiot Lighthouse. Currently, the lighthouse is located in modern-day Port Huron and Fort Gratiot is now known for its beautiful, sparse, open land. Nestled along Lake Huron, this small town is filled with green space, driving ranges, and waterfront parks. Lakeside Park and Beach is a popular spot with its splash pad, volleyball net, picnic areas, and more. For a more laid-back beach vibe without the crowds, residents flock to Fort Gratiot County Park.
Fort Gratiot is known for its commercial center, the largest shopping district in the county. Along 24th Avenue, residents enjoy a variety of grocery, department, and craft stores. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from along 24th Avenue and several movie theaters as well. Grab a bite to eat at your favorite casual chain or support family-owned eateries like Mama Vicki's Coney Island or Daybreak Café.

We love it here, I've been here for nine years now. First in a one-bedroom when i was single and upgraded to a three bedroom for more space when my husband and I moved in together. The manager is fantastic. Fair, professional, pleasant and no-nonsense. The on-site work crew are all friendly and competent and if something needs to be fixed they are there in 15-20 min every time. The area is safe, quiet and I've never had any issues with bad or irritating neighbors. The units are spacious, clean, well-maintained, reasonably priced and the location is perfect. Eventually, we will buy a house and it will be bittersweet to leave our little community. I wouldn't want to rent anywhere else in this area.
The application process was easy. My apartment looks brand new! So much storage space I don’t need to purchase furniture to put my clothes and other items. Location is perfect because I am minutes away from all my shopping!. I’m very satisfied that I live here! I strongly recommend Heritage Apartments ??
My family and I have lived in Heritage Grove Apartments twice in the last 4 years. Dora has always listened and addressed our issues immediately. If there was ever an issue with another tenant, she would take care of it! Have recommended HGA to friends and family! Very safe community! Kids live here too! No issues.
I have lived at heritage grove for 3 years and have nothing but great things to say about it. It was immaculate when I moved in. The inside and outside and grounds are immaculately maintained. The office manager handles everything with the utmost professionalism and is very helpful with all your needs and to answer all your questions. The whole move in process was a breeze. Anything that needs repairs which isnt much is handled immediately. The cost is low for all you get. You don't have to pay for carport or pet fees and the utilities are dirt cheap. All the staff are courteous and professional. I would recommend this place to everyone and plan to stay living here a very long time.
Viewed an apartment at Heritage Grove Apartments that a friend and I had decided to rent. I was to move in two weeks later. Asked to provide a $600 deposit, which I willingly did, but told that I could not sign the lease for another week or 10 days. I was to move in July 1, 2018, but they would not allow me to sign the leave until the end of June. Why then ask for the deposit? The manager said that she would hold the deposit until I signed the lease. Instead, she promptly cashed the check. I was living in Kentucky and notified her three days later that I would not be relocating to Port Huron and no longer wished to rent the apartment. Was told at that time that the check had been cashed and that it would take "a week or so" until the owners issued me a check. Management asked where they should send it. I was also told that this was the last one bedroom apartment and it could be quickly rented due to a strong demand. Fast forward to the end of August. No check has arrived. Today I spoke with the manager who now informs me that they did not send the check and do not intend to, because they were unable to rent the apartment "for over seven weeks". As a result, I will now have to involve my lawyer and/or take this to small claims court. Let me point out that this is billed as a friendly, family run company. However, the manager has refused to provide me with the owners names, so that I might make them personally aware of my claim. Leaves me with many questions and a bad taste in my mouth. BEWARE: Manager is not to be taken at her word. Do not release any funds until you have signed your lease!! C. D. McKenzie August 27,2018
