Property Ratings at Hickory Creek Central
I recently moved out of Hickory Creek Apartments after a two-year stay, only to be blindsided by a $1,500 charge for carpet replacement. This fee feels particularly unfair given the apartment’s light use and my repeated reports of the AC unit leaking onto the carpet. Throughout my time there, I submitted multiple maintenance requests, yet management appeared to ignore these issues when assessing the move-out charge. Despite manager Denise personally reaching out to me on multiple occasions to explain the AC issues, no real solution was ever provided. I was repeatedly told that the AC unit in the apartment above had accumulated ice, which then had to ‘melt’ into my unit at its own convenience, causing ongoing water damage. Given the carpet’s age and condition, along with the water damage resulting from management’s own maintenance issues, this charge seems unjustifiable. It appears more like an attempt to withhold a tenant’s security deposit rather than address legitimate maintenance concerns during the lease. This excessive fee speaks volumes about the way they handle tenant relations and property upkeep. For anyone considering Hickory Creek Apartments, I strongly advise keeping detailed records of every maintenance request and preparing for potential surprise costs at move-out. Based on my experience, tenants might end up financially responsible for issues the management neglects to resolve while they’re living there.

I lived in the apartments for 18 months. In that time, I had to contact maintenance about cigarette smoke coming from the neighbors, a broken ice machine, broken dishwasher, broken washer, and broken dryer. They came in to fill in any cracks to block the smoke, which never truly fixed the problem so I invested in multiple air purifiers just to be able to breathe. The dishwasher had started making a loud grinding noise, to which I found a piece that came loose in my dishwasher, and all they did was take the piece with them. The ice machine never worked, after coming back two times to "fix" the problem and telling me it was all set, I didn't bother calling again. The washer they did replace since the hose completely split and flooded the floor in the wash room, hall and kitchen, and the dryer was fixed when one of the knobs came off. I had noticed that there was a lot of dust/mold around vents, so I installed filters over my vents for each room. I changed them every few months due to the amount of buildup being caught in those filters. There was definitely a roach problem, even with requesting pest control. I was constantly killing roaches and wasps. I kept a very clean apartment but still kept finding them. The neighbors treated the place like a dump. One of the upstairs neighbors would stand over the railing, smoke and spit where my front door was. Others would leave trash everywhere, not bother throwing out their junk mail, leave beer cans and bottles in the parking lot. The last few months I was there, there was an upstairs neighbor who would blast music from 6 until 12-1 in the morning. Overall, I would say there is definitely better options for that price range.
I love my apartment! Great closet space. Variety of tenants. Close access to food, gas, stores, mall, entrance to the highway, close to my work, quiet and settled. We have quick response for any issues that come up, we have a party for Christmas yearly and access to free movies. The grounds are kept up and they are now in the process of renovating the entire complex.
