Property Ratings at Hidden Lakes Apartments
When I was living there, there was roaches from next door. And it was dog and goose poop everywhere. If you live there, watch out for it. And the dishwash broke 2 months after we moved there. It was always the power coming off every week or so. People was stealing stuff and the mail was always gone. There was roaches in the laundry room on the floor and it was trash all there the trash go. Please, do not I mean, DO NOT live there.
The apartment itself was nice enough. We struggled with obnoxious downstairs neighbors and management was impossible to contact in any way beside going into the leasing office itself. They also turned off our water several times without notifying us, I assume for maintenance. They only ever responded to one email I sent them which was in regards to how to set up automatic rent payments. You might get lucky and have nice neighbors, in which case this place would be pretty good, but if you have problem neighbors, or any questions not pertaining to money, management will not help you at all.
All the ladies in the office are nice , every time I come in to grab a coffee they always are sure to say hello . Very quiet surroundings . Great place to live

I can't wait to move! I took a tour and was very impressed with what Hidden Lakes Apartments had to offer. The apartment itself is beautiful and HUGE! I can not wait to move in!
Property Manager at Hidden Lakes Apartments, Responded To This Review
We are so excited you chose our community for your home and we look forward to you finding yourself at home with us. Thank you for sharing!
Let me start off with staff is RUDE and CONDESCENDING. They don’t care if you complain about ROACHES and broken dishwasher, washer, dryer, sink and more in your apartment. They will show you the model of a updated apartment but don’t let that fool you, most of the apartments are run down and not updated due to lack of upkeep. Multiple buildings complain of cockroaches and all they say is they are handling the problem but they are not. They will tack on Ridiculous extra charges for no reason. All they care about is money and they don’t care about updating the apartments. Would give it zero stars but wouldn’t allow only reason I gave one. Thank God we are out of here as soon as our lease is up.
This was my first apartment I got on my own so the experience of renting scared me a bit. However the leasing consultants at Hidden Lakes were extremely helpful and not pushy at all. Charity is the one who helped me! She was informative, lived on the property herself, and went through the ins and outs of getting my first apartment with me. Highly recommend checking out Hidden Lakes!
Aesthetically, they’re cheaply updated but acceptable enough. However, if you like 6 month old ceiling leaks, flooded laundry rooms, AC units dying in the most humid part of the summer, and constant shower leaks- this is the place for you. You can tell the office, but the type of repair you’ll get is paint over the two foot diameter roof leak that just reappears in a day and added coolant to the hVac that’s tripled your consumers bill because it isn’t running properly which then dies a month later. They’ll leave you with using a window unit AC sized for 1/3 of the square feet of your top floor apartment that has years worth of dust caked on the screen and no insulation foam to keep air in. If you want to pay these prices, I promise there are better options within a 15 minute drive from this location.
These people do not care about you. Power constantly goes out. Maintenance comes inside unannounced MONTHS after requests are submitted. The other renters are just as bad as the managers. Roads are awful. Trash is always full. Parking is hell. Washing and drying machines barely work. Microwave, fridge, and outlets all don't. I can't think of a single good thing about this apartment complex seriously. Find somewhere more worth your time, money, and energy because you'll very quickly hate everything about this place.
1. It took 3 weeks, 2 direct talks, 3 e-mails, and a warning of rent reduction due to bad living standards for management to fix the sink. 2. You can hear every sound from your neighbors. If kids from the top floor run, you can see the ceiling shaking. 3. Complete ignorance of the mold. While notified in September, the management ignored continuous complaints about mold in the apartment. The review was written at the end of October. 4. Stolen packages. During the rent packages for over 200$ in total price were stolen. 5. During unathorised entrance while I was absent (which is fine, since the neighbor thought I have a gas leak), maintenance did not close the patio door which potentially could lead to cat escape. Stay away.
A package was stolen on my first day here, the apartment wasn't thoroughly cleaned, took over 5 months for them to correctly repair my refrigerator, and they are trying to give back half of what they owe for my refund.
The management is very rude and condescending, not willing to provide ANY compensation or lower rent when our entire building had a ROACH infestation! We lived here for over 2 years and had constantly loud neighbors, people don’t clean up after their animals, our apartment has mold and poor air quality if you have allergies. Would not recommend this place, extremely unprofessional management who only care about money.
One of the highest priced complexes in Kentwood and it's garbage. On top of that, you have to pay for your own water (does any other complex do this anymore?) which doesn't have an automatic payment option and charges a 50% upcharge for being 1 day late. The trash receptacle is piled high with trash outside the receptacle every Sunday thanks to poor management decisions. Oh, and if you ever need help with your lease obligations, don't expect them to offer any. Money is the only thing this place cares about. Go somewhere cheaper and get the same or better quality.
Lived here for just over two years and I loved it. Ty and Daisy were so good to me and very attentive. The pool area is sooo nice too and never too packed.
I love this place. I've been here for a year and a half, and plan to stay for many more! The office staff have always treated my husband and me nicely. A couple of my favorites have moved on to other opportunities, and I wish them well, but I still love the new staff. They put on several events throughout the year, and I feel the rent raises are fair. I have a couple neighbors who have lived here at least 5, if not 10 years and has no complaints. I can't say enough good things. If you move here, the only thing I'd caution against is the online automatic payment option. I've recently learned it's not reliable, and it's nearly impossible to get a late fee waived (which I generally agree with). Daysi is the staff member who has been here the longest at this point, I believe, and she's incredible. She always greets me when I walk in, and it's nice to be able to go to someone familiar with any requests. She helped me once when I desperately needed to scan something to my email. I was able to meet the relatively new property manager Melissa today under unfortunate circumstances, but she was very professional, and we came to a fair resolution. She actually allowed my husband and I to meet with her after her normal business hours, which I greatly appreciate.
Reconsider because this place is all about curb appeal. Outwardly looks nice but has a lot of management issues. Once you move in your pretty much just another check in the mail to them.Beware!
Understanding the housing crisis in Michigan and how rent is ridiculously high in most places, the only reason I would suggest this establishment would be for the lower rent. Lower, not low. The apartments themselves are good apartments but the neighbors are rude, inconsiderate and loud. Beware of the super thin walls and floors that allow all noise to be heard. Don’t even try to complain about the noise because nothing will be done. The office neglects you after they get you to sign off on your lease. Your problems with other tenants will never be addressed, all they care about is getting their money. The unprofessionalism from the staff is sad. If you like to have peace and quiet I do no suggest you move here. If you like for office staff to treat you fairly I also suggest you don’t move here. Money is their bottom line, nothing else.
My wife and I lived at Hidden Lakes and we always felt comfortable there. Maintenance responded efficiently even for small requests and the staff was always friendly. If I hadn't bought a house I'd still be very happy living there! Snow was plowed often and our neighbors were nice. There isn't much more a person could ask for living in an apartment.
Amendment: they are adding some perks back, but prices are still considerably huger compared to other apartments of the same quality. If you like relaxing by the pool or in the hot tub. This isn't the place for you. They don't enforce the rules for the kids, and they scream and splash and run all over. No matter how many times you ask them to take care of it, they don't care. The staff isn't so helpful either. They only respond to emails about half the time. The entire staff from 6 years ago, when I moved in was fantastic, but they have all moved on...and no wonder... They take terrible care of the parking lots in the winter. Everyone gets stuck trying to get out if there was any amount of snow fall. The ice is terrible, especially around the carports. They might wait two days to finally plow the lots, and they never put salt down. Amendment: They seem to be trying to take better care of the parking lots this year. Thank god.
I have lived here for almost 2 years and I love it here
Hidden Lakes Apartments strive to continually improve their buildings, units, and grounds. Their maintenance staff are prompt and very efficient. It is very close to many stores and shopping venues. Close to the Gerald R. Ford Airport making travel very easy. Only a 10 minute cab ride away for less than $20.00. It is a perfect choice for me after own two homes. Great neighbors quiet, respectful and friendly. I couldn't have selected a better place.
