The city’s greatest attraction is Michigan State University, and not just for its beautiful campus, but for its big-time attractions like Spartan Stadium, the MSU Museum, and the Wharton Center for Performing Arts. The buildings are poorly maintained, over priced and dangerous to live in. I know the price seems good but frankly living in a box by the river is safer than living here. The amount of mold and health code violations is out of this world. It is not worth the price, even if the price was $5 dollars a month.

Hi There- thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will be addressing your concerns. Please do not hesitate to let us know how we can provide you better service.
I am writing this in hopes of helping others by WARNING you not to move in. I have lived here for 5 years because my grandchildren live in a neighborhood close by. I have decided to move out after 5 long years of trying to look past all of the suffering I have endured. When I first moved in, I knew the apartment needed some TLC. The floor felt unsteady and I could tell the roofing needed some new shingles. I looked past it because the apartment managers assured me they would be repairing. My LEG WENT THROUGH THE FLOOR due to rotted floor boards, the roof had a CONTINUOUS LEAK and ruined my collection of baseball cards, and homeless fellows will move into the vacant apartments because none of these apartments are safe. Please don't move in here, I would never wish this suffering onto my worst enemy.

I've tried condensing this the best I can but there are an infinite number of problems here. The apartment itself, I was told would be cleaned and re-painted. This was the first lie of many. Cabinets do not fully close, walls and closet doors are dirty, rust covers every shower component. Apartment was riddled with spider webs, dust, cracks, and breakage. Carpet does not meet with wall, allowing many bugs to enter at ground level. I hear every step taken my neighbors, so imagine what night time sounds like. Kitchen was filthy, uncleaned oven/stovetop, fridge even had stains, and drawers had food peels in them. Even the deck had party cups dug into the bushes. Water smells weird at times, and the apartment building often smells terrible. A few unique scenarios to add. Only once have I called management--for a pinky-nail sized hole above my shower, which leaked drops of water whenever my neighbors shower. The response was to cut a sloppy 1x1 foot hole where it previously was, adding more cracks/breakage to the entire apartment. Tracked dirt all over the carpet, and left the drywall bits all over my floor, bathroom rug, and tub. Safe to say it only took one interaction to learn my lesson. There was once a storm which momentarily cut all electricity, unfortunately permanently breaking my computer (despite a surge protector being present). There is also an electrical outlet which I have noticed cannot be used since this storm. They printed the wrong address on my lease, which I of course registered services for since they require it in advanced. Obviously I was not reimbursed for another one of their errors. To be fair, they give you a few days to 'review' the apartment conditions. I was leaving out of town and quickly turned it in to submit what known issues I'd seen during my tour, because there is a due date for turn in. Upon returning I found many more issues, which sadly I could not submit since the allotted time had passed. Besides, they didn't do anything about the issues I had mentioned anyways. I still live here so maybe that's why I don't entirely hate it. But believe me, if I'd known it'd be like this, I woulda found another place given more time. Hope this helps!

I know this seems like a good complex based on location and low rent costs. But fun away fast and pick a different apartment complex! I have lived at Hidden Tree for several years and cannot wait until my lease expires to move out. The leasing office is extremely unprofessional. They barely answer the phone, and if they don’t- good luck getting a return call! Maintenance is a joke. There were mice in my apartment and I called emergency maintenance and they came out FOUR days later. I highly recommend you find somewhere else to live!! This is coming from someone who deeply regrets moving in there.

This is by far the worst place to choose to live at. I’ve lived there for about 9 months In a townhome, the place smelled foul after moving in like they didn’t care to try and get rid of any of the smells from the residents before. The walls were pretty gross and discolored. The management was beyond incompetent, I’m a college student and go to MSU and ive been in and out of apartments for the past five years. I like to move after my leases are over for a new change that’s all, but this place literally made me hate waking up in the morning. The walls are extremely thin to where you can literally hear your neighbors talk to each other. Suspicious people were constantly in and out of my neighbors apartment just to never be seen after they leave. My car was vandalized in the parking lot over night and management couldn’t do a thing. The grass was never cut and I have pictures to prove it because I’ve complained to management multiple times because my dogs would get fleas from how filthy and untaken care of the place was. The dumpster was constantly overflowing, to the point where I was taking the trash out one time and there was a raccoon and a skunk going through the trash that was on ground making the parking lot a bigger mess. The washer and dryer that you have to pay for monthly which is like $30 are absolute pieces of junk. The basement constantly flooded and management didn’t wanna fix it and advised that I just let the drain in the middle of the basement absorb the water. Cracks on every corner and seem on the walls, the kitchen cabinets wouldn’t close all the way I had to buy attachable magnets to more than half of them just so they can shut. IF YOU VALUE YOURSELF AT ALL DONT LIVE HERE, ANYWHERE IS BETTER I PROMISE YOU. They have one good review and it’s most likely an employee or a fake review.
My fiancee and I moved in three months ago, and it's been awful every step of the way. Our unit was disgusting and decrepit when we moved in (repairs STILL haven't been made), and our locks didn't work until they replaced them three weeks into our lease. Because of a tiny error, we are forced to pay every instance of rent and utilities with money orders. The water bill is unfairly calculated, as they simply split the total evenly between the whole building. Because of this, our water bill is VERY expensive as our neighbor runs sprinklers for his plants every day. Doing a load of laundry in machines that often break costs $3.50, plus you pay for the water the machine uses. The people in the office are rude and often make mistakes. I would never recommend anyone to live here, and I cannot wait to move out. It's so terrible we have considered breaking our lease. This place is awful, a nightmare.
I cant believe we didn't find this place earlier. After two years at a horrible community, I am so glad I found Hidden tree. You don't find service like this anymore. No maintenance issues yet which is a major improvement from my last residence. Enjoying my new place.
