As one of the major economic centers of Alabama and one of the signature cities of the Southeast, Birmingham has done an impressive job of adapting to the new demands of the 21st century. The city that once built a reputation as the “Pittsburgh of the South” thanks to a robust steel manufacturing industry is now a hip community attracting entrepreneurs, artists, and innovative personalities. Birmingham remains one of the most active business hubs in the region, with headquarters for everything from banks to biotech firms operating in the city.
The dining, nightlife, and entertainment scenes have all grown rapidly in recent years, and just about everyone in town has an opinion about where to find the best brewery. Gorgeously preserved historic buildings and a pervasive attitude of down-home hospitality have kept Birmingham’s famous southern charm intact as well, creating a unique environment where the best elements of the traditional and the modern complement each other.

Property Ratings at Highpointe Apartments
Air conditioner does not work, Rats running around in the middle of the night, there were roaches in my stove!! Countertops were chipped and broken off also.
I was sold a dream. When we moved in our air conditioner was leaking, this is after they did a “ thorough walkthrough”. It leaked so bad we had mushrooms growing in the hallway and hallway closets. The carpet was never replaced but “cleaned”. The wall where the leak was happening is now CRUMBLING. Oh and I was also 7 months pregnant when all of this is happening. This was just the first month. We have had a big problem and rude neighbors and that’s not even it. Maintenance is trash and will lie about your work orders being done. I wouldn’t recommend these apartments to my enemy. Needless to say we will not be renewing our lease.
Property Manager at Highpointe Apartments, Responded To This Review
A lot has changed at the property since this review was left including ownership and staffing. We hope that readers will give HighPointe a fresh look.
This was a rough lease to complete because of the neglect from the staff and maintenance. I had a clogged kitchen sink for the last 3 months of my stay regardless of the countless work orders I put in. They hire under qualified maintenance that have no idea how to make adequate repairs. Upon moving in I had a broken door inside the apartment, the patio was filthy and the patio door was broken as well. This was so troublesome because I lived on the first level, easily accessible to anyone who wanted to walk up. The shower in the main bathroom was broken for the first 8 months of my stay. Each time a maintenance man came, they made up an excuse as to why the shower could not be fixed. This complex changes management like I change my underwear. My son confused the pool with a pond. That is just how neglected and dirty it was and still is. I DO NOT recommend this complex for anyone. You save a little on rent but you lose so much more in the end.
We moved in less than 2 months ago, and I reported what may have been MOLD. Well, they spray painted over it. My fiancé, myself, and also our one month old baby got sick. We are currently staying with relatives because they have YET to resolve the mold issue. Lawyers WILL be getting involved! I wouldn't recommend this property to my WORST enemy! When we first moved in, there was mold, the sink wasn't working, HUGE hole in the wall, toilet seat completely off, multiple other things. Most importantly was the mold, when we began getting sick, we had no idea why. We FINALLY figured it out. MOLD!!! MOLD!!! MOLD!!! The staff isn't concerned at all. We will be contacting the health department! Don't even waste your money!!
If I could give them no stars I would. They are horrible the Apartments are horrible. The dishwasher hasn't worked for several months. We've had wholes in the wall since we moved in and no one has yet to come fix them. The office staff is horrible and not helpful or willing. Do not move here the only good thing is the neighbors are nice
Absolutely awful. Terrible management who are rude and unhelpful. We had mold issues, tons of roaches, raccoons in our ceiling, a broken air conditioner for a week and several repairs that never got fixed. Don't live here, they will screw you over. The neighbors are pretty nice though.
Very spacious apartments. We've been here 2 years and will not be staying any longer once the lease is up. The office staff is horrible, rude, and disrespectful. My vehicle has been broken into 3 times since staying here. They claim they have working cameras but that is a complete lie. The first 2 times my car was broken into, I was informed that the camera system was being "fixed". The last time my vehicle was broken into the property manager told me that there weren't any cameras on the property and they never implied they had cameras. The biggest problem with this lie is the fact that everyday I drive into the apartments I am introduced to 3 signs that imply you are being recorded on camera. Also, another problem with this lie is that I have seen at least 8 non-working cameras on the property . We love the actual apartment but the rude staff makes it very difficult to enjoy your stay here. They are very unhelpful and unwilling.
