Property Ratings at Highcroft Apartments
I went on a tour to this apartment and were given a price on a paper at 3pm and when I tried registering that night, they said the price went by $50 and since they didn't send me the quote in email, they said they cannot honor that price. I can definitely afford that $50 but it seems like they are greedy and very unprofessional. I spoke with both local management and their manager in Atlanta (Paul D).
From the outside, the apartment does live up to the "luxury" label as the grounds are well kept and the outside of the apartment is quite appealing. However, if you live on any floor except for the top, you will hear everything that is happening around you. From closing of doors, toilet seats being closed or even just walking, everything is clearly audible. It is almost as if there is no insulation in the ceiling to block out the sound. The staff is relatively helpful, though there has been recent turnover in the last 6 months. The lodge is nice and is rentable, which is great. The pool is also clean and nice. This place is great for you if you are lucky enough to either live in a building with no neighbors, or live on the top floor. Keep in mind there are no elevators so good luck after grocery shopping.
First off let me start by saying that all the staff Caroline, Brent, and Becky are fantastic. They go above and beyond to help you out in any way possible and genuinely care. The apartments themselves are also very gorgeous and well built. The property has a lot of amazing amentities as well. Manintenace staff is also prompt and efficient when it comes to fixing anything. By far best apartments in this area!
My family recently moved into Highcroft and we love it. Highcroft really is a gem, tucked back in to the beautiful and tranquil Powder Forest, yet close to all the amenities of Simsbury and Avon. The community itself and the surrounding natural areas are very quiet and totally private, but you are 3 minutes away from downtown Simsbury. If this were a condo, I would buy it in a heartbeat and plan to live here forever, I've been that happy with our decision to move here. The apartments themselves are gorgeous and light filled, with upscale touches throughout. The construction is solid so you do not hear your neighbors. People are friendly and range from 30-something professionals to empty nesters, and very dog friendly. All the dog people know each other! Highcroft provides you with nice opportunities to meet and socialize, with free dinners in the clubhouse the first Friday of each month. A lot of people go and you'll see residents of all ages including young children. We could not be more satisfied with the excellent service provided by the leasing office, the beauty of our apartment and overall high-quality of the community. Trust me, you will adore Becky the leasing agent. She is the heart of the community. The move-in process was easy, and Becky made us feel valued and important. Since we moved in, we've had a couple minor service requests which have been handled within a few hours of being reported. We love calling Highcroft home.
I moved in April of 2017. I have had nothing but a great experience. I am notified of packages right away and find everyone in the management office to be very helpful. There is always plenty of parking by my building. I don't think there are any other apartments in the area that offer the same amenities. Very happy overall with my decision to move here.
If you like construction and empty promises...this place is for you. Let me start by saying, the common facilities are...pretty nice - game room, pool, fire pit etc. HOWEVER, this place is still going through some growing pains and for the amount of inflated rent they are charging, it's unacceptable. We moved in August 2016, it is now July 2017. We moved in and (paid a premium for) what was promised to be a "quiet end unit with little to no construction traffic". When asked about the construction, we were told the project would be completed by February at the latest. Again, its July and there are still dump trucks, back ho's and tractor trailers using the access road like a highway...had we known this was going to be such a high traffic area and for so long, we would have rented a different unit. I recently inquired about the construction and was basically told tough luck, things get delayed. Well thanks for robbing me for renting this quiet end unit Highcroft Apartments. There were supposed to be 2 dog parks...not 1..2. One of which would go in by the fall of 2016 and the other in the spring 2017....there are ZERO. And then there's the threatening letters. How can you threaten mandatory DNA testing of dogs due to pet waste without any prior warning? If there's an issue, just send out a friendly reminder before threatening to bring in the authorities. I mean c'mon, you bag your dog waste and leave it in the corner of your garage for an hour and they still write you a violation!! By the way, there are no dog waste stations anywhere in the back half of the property...why would you put them by the apartments closest to the dumpster? Beyond me. Packages...hopefully you don't want that package of Christmas presents your parents didn't tell you they were sending...50/50 whether you get notified. I have had a 4' by 1' by 1' box (basically, you have to trip over it to get in the package closet), sit in the package closet for 3 weeks until I realized my backordered item had shipped and went to check the office myself to find it sitting there. Long story short, at the end of the day...it is growing pains. Hopefully the management will get their act together because that is what's really hurting them right now. Poor management. Back to something I learned when I first entered the real world, "under promise and over deliver." Something these folks never learned. Instead they advertise on lies and false pretenses and it's a pretty sad practice.
If I could do it again, would I choose to live here – highly unlikely: The club house is great, they offer ‘Free Food Friday’s’ once a month, blankets for the fire pit, dog washing station, and small pool. The actual apartment we reside in is great – quiet interior walls, open floor plan, large rooms, high ceilings, and good natural light. But... For a community who prides themselves on being ‘pet friendly’, it couldn’t paint a more false picture. The dog park which was promised to us, upon move in – yep, no longer happening. Upon move in, there wasn’t a single dog waste station. (Note: They have since installed two stations – but of course they’re installed closest to the garbage compactor, doing no service to those living furthest from it.) A few other gripes include: 1. The number one deciding factor to live in the unit we chose, is because it was sold to us as a ‘quiet end unit’ – ha! What a joke that was. We are now paying a premium to live in one of the nosiest apartments in the community, with a constant flow of trucks (i.e. transporting materials for Phase 2/3, garbage trucks, working trucks, etc.). People even spinning their tires and burning out first thing in the morning and afternoon. 2. Parking… If you don’t get home before the rush, don’t expect to park anywhere near your complex. 3. They don’t tell you when you’ve received a package to the club house, so plan on asking repeatedly. 4. They are friendly and accommodating until after they’ve gotten you in the door - then forget about it. 5. Communications sent to residents about various issues/restrictions is sent in a very negative threatening way. 6. If you put in a Service Request, don’t expect a quick turnaround time.
