Property Ratings at Highgrove at Big Bend
Everything is falling apart. There is mold in apartment. The dishwasher has not been working for awhile and they won't replace it. Same with the garbage disposal. And they have hidden fees in their billing.
I LOVE this place! Very quiet, safe neighborhood. Buildings on the hill (1400’s) are older but definitely the place to be. They are renovating each unit as tenants move out, so they’ll be brand new. The forest behind you is gorgeous, especially in the spring/summer and anytime there’s snow. Balcony/back deck overlooks the forest and is such a nice view. Covered parking spots, washer and dryer hookups plus machines available to rent, 24/7 gym (it’s small but it beats dealing with Planet Fitness), there’s a pool, they have community events, pet friendly area with lots of places to walk dogs and enjoy nature. Front desk is super friendly, no loud neighbors and everyone is super friendly. For the cost this place is incredible! It has its quirks but I love it. I highly recommend back of loop 1400’s (1401, 1403, 05, 07, etc…). Either way, all the units are awesome. I love living here! Do yourself a favor and tour a unit on the hill. Get a renovated unit tho, it does need a little facelift.
Overall, this is a nice place. I love the location. The appliances are updated. It is a little difficult to communicate with the office staff though.
It’s been very nice living here. Maintenance is super helpful. And the office is nice to work with. The neighbors have been really nice to meet and talk to.
My neighbors sprint upstairs and the entire building shakes. My internet speed tested at 4.1 mbps for the 4th test in a row. First night I was here, my neighbors turned on their shower and the water running/heater was so loud that I couldn't hear the music in my airpods. It is truly not a bad apartment if the rent was about half of what it is. I highly recommend going to an apartment complex nearby that will be the same price with better accommodations
There is too much inconsistency in how this place is run. Often taking days or weeks to respond to requests- sometimes months for maintenance needs.
Everyone that works in the leasing office has been absolutely amazing and a huge help to Seth and I! With any questions we had, they made the process very easy and helpful.
Office staff has been a joy and is always really helpful when ever we need anything. Amount of parking spots is a little light. Can't really change the layout of that for obvious reasons but it has been a bit rough recently.
My apartment in Highgrove at Big Bend has been my home since 2009. I like everything about it! The community is well-maintained and beautiful. My apartment is very nice, clean and updated. These buildings are older, but they have been very well cared for. My neighbors are friendly and the community feels safe. Many apartment communities have problems with noise, but this one is very quiet and peaceful. Bottom line, if I didn't like my home so much, I wouldn't still be here after all these years!
Good apartment complex for the price. The only issue I have is the people in the office don’t seem to communicate. Many times I’ve been told by whoever answers the phone that they can’t answer my question or can’t help me but they’ll let the other office worker know to give me a call. I never receive a call or email and end up having to call again.
My boyfriend and I have been moved in for a week and we are enjoying our new apartment. It’s very quiet, and we have a beautiful backyard view!
I love the dog park and the quiet neighborhood. I love the deck and the spacious rooms. Most of the staff is nice. The neighbors are super friendly and respectful.
My girlfriend and I just moved in but so far we are having a great time! We love the area and how quiet it is. The company is very nice and welcoming. It also feels very safe throughout the whole day. We look foward to our time here and what we will get up to!
I love living here in this area, very quiet, friendly with many stores and shops near by for convenience. Highgrove is definitely a wonderful place to call home!
It's great! Maintenance is great as well. I wish I could keep living here but need to move due to work! Management is nice as well and they're up to date on everything
I love the location & the apartments themselves are really nice! Have had trouble with the management however and their lack of assistance with prior maintenance request so after 2 years I am finding a new apartment.
Rented an 2 br apartment in the 1400 block in 2022. I’m going to be moving out in August 2024. My experience renting here was absolutely miserable, the leasing office is incompetent and unresponsive. After my first 3 months, I reported a raccoon infestation to the leasing office. There was (and still is) a horrible raccoon infestation along the chimney wall, as well as the crawl space above the loft area. Leasing office assured me that the problem was taken care of after a week, but I could still hear SEVERAL raccoons up against the drywall, and a urine smell was beginning to collect in the loft. Just outside the 3rd floor loft window was a 3 ft. wide pile of excrement left by several large raccoons who were clearly nesting in the building. I resubmitted the maintenance claim, specifying that the problem from the original claim was not solved. Within a few minutes, the claim was already marked as “resolved”. I called them to explain my claim over the phone with a real person, they said they would send pest control at some point in the next week. They wouldn’t give me a timeframe for the pest control so I could call off work and they refused to give me any kind of call ahead. Pest control wouldn’t enter the unit on his own because I have a dog that would scare him away. I tried explaining this to the leasing office, and they immediately became concerned with the breed of my dog, a German shepherd (which I have an ESA for). They were no longer concerned at all about the infestation in my unit, all of their attention was focused on my dog (who I had registered with the leasing office when I moved in). It took over a week to get the pest control to my unit, who noted that the problem would persist without fixing the hole in the building they’re using to access the crawlspace. Pest control had informed the leasing office of the issue and what needed to be done to fix it, offered a quote and it was rejected for being too high. Instead, they hired someone who did something to the roof that did not resolve the problem. I continued to report the issue but it was clear that nothing more would be done. The smell in the loft made half of the apartment uninhabitable (urine stains are now visible on the ceiling), most of the apartment smells like urine unless I light several candles and leave them in separate rooms. I regularly hear raccoons scratching and fighting behind the drywall across multiple different spans of drywall in the apartment.
The neighborhood is great! Pretty quiet around here! The pool for some reason isn’t open not sure why? It’s affordable! Dog park is great! Neighbors are super nice!
I’ve lived here for a few months now. Moving in was initially frustrating because it kept getting moved back due to inspection problems leaving. me scrambling to find a truck and movers. Then my W/D wasn’t installed even though i pay the rent. Then they did a walkthrough and locked my doorknob which i don’t have a key to because they were supposed ti replace it….resulting in me paying a locksmith $300 to fix. They then reimbursed me that money, have been very helpful with any maintenance issues and I have awesome neighbors, love the area, and the space! the beginning was bad but now it’s awesome.
Lived here for a few years and while it wasn’t super in the beginning, it’s really gone downhill further. Lots of turnover with staff. Trash everywhere. My air conditioner was out for almost a week and when I just asked for an update, they acted like I was crazy for just asking after days with no update. The outside lighting is definitely lacking. Scary to be outside at night. There is dog park area but is not lit. Had my car broken into and know of multiple cars that were vandalized. Somebody was assaulted at the pool. Basically paying too much because it’s West County.
We moved into this place in April and have dealt with spider bites (multiple) requiring antibiotics, overflowing trash dumpsters constantly right outside our apartment, outside lights out leaving it pitch black and unsafe at night since we moved in. All have been reported and most have been blamed on others. The dumpsters are Waste Managements fault. The lights are Amerens fault. The spiders - well that’s fun. We pay for pest control monthly but they only come if we request to be on the list. And I’ve never seen them treat outside the buildings. The first time they came, they only sprayed the bathroom because that is where I said I killed the last spider. Seriously? The second time - I never saw anyone or any sign that anyone had been in the apartment. They are due to come again on Monday. Highgrove refuses to do anything about the disgusting utility closet that appears to be where they are breeding. That is my responsibility evidentially - even though the closet hasn’t been cleaned in years it appears. And unless I call them to follow up - I never hear any kind of update. Really - you can find a better, safer place to spend your money.
Recently sent this email to corporate at Stone Creek, waiting reply. I am a tenant (for over 2 yrs) of your Missouri location, Highgrove at Big Bend 700 Westbrooke Village Dr., Ballwin MO I pay my rent on time & in full every mo. I don’t complain or cause problems, except for when your maintenance crew can’t seem to get the job fixed correctly or clean up. But I will not tolerate what I am facing now by being price bullied into signing a lease before the given deadline date by your management staff. “Best Business Practices” is what is needed here in this case. The first notice I was sent on 610/21 stated a $35 increase (btw my lease ends 9/13/21) if I signed the lease by the deadline date of 7/13/2021. The 2nd notice dated 6/28/21, stated an increase of $46 with the same deadline date of 7/13/2021. Then I received a 3rd notice dated July 10th with a $56 increase with the same deadline of 7/13/21. The Third notice also listed additional dates & increases. So this is how you treat your loyal tenants? Just because I didn’t renew my lease 33 days early? Inconclusion, the Assistant Manager DeLaina reached out to discuss & resolve the issues. She and Rob have been the only helpful ones here. All are temporary fixes for the amount of $ I pay to live in this so called "Newly Renovated" place! My refridgetor sounds like it's getting ready to take off any minute, I can only use 1 burner on my stove top & when I use my oven over 375, it sets off the smoke detector, the disposal still leaks after a new one was put in, after 3 tries, I pay for pest control every month but yet, I have to be put on a list for that & I still have spiders in & out of my apartment. Maintenance needs to do better. Need I say more and keep going....??? My opinion, StoneCreek is only out for $$ and doesn't care about the community or your family/well being. Bottom line and "Market Price" means more to them than having to deal with just answering another email!
We moved into a 2BR/2BA at Highgrove 6 months ago, and it has been the perfect home for us, our baby, and our cat. We needed something affordable that also had space for our washer and dryer, and we couldn't believe when we found this. It's nothing fancy--the unit is clearly a bit worn and lived in, but it gives us enough space to live our lives without worrying about being able to pay the bills. We have seen very few bugs despite living in a ground-floor unit, and maintenance has been quick on most work orders. There was an issue with some hot water that took a few requests, but it did get fixed, and now we always have hot water. We can hear the upstairs neighbors if they're really active, but no one makes much noise past 10pm. The office staff is kind and works hard--Sarah has been especially helpful. I know some units are getting renovated, so the prices may go up on those, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a nice place to live in the area.
