About Highland Apartments
Northwest Apartments is excited to present this unique living experience that honors this historic property with the perfect blend of modern comforts. This exclusive community features 14 Studio, One- and Two-Bedroom apartments with formal dining rooms and grand sunrooms! The community is pet friendly with reserved covered parking in the rear of the building. Adjacent to North Capitol Hill’s Volunteer Park, The Highland Apartments was built in The Roaring 20s, to serve Seattle's wealthy residents of the day. These affluent people wanted amenities they would expect in a house - such as spacious rooms, fireplaces, butler’s pantries, separate dining rooms, sunrooms, and quarters for the maid. The Highland provided all of these in a prominent residential neighborhood close to downtown Seattle! Located along 11th Avenue East there are many other luxury apartment buildings on the block with similar features, that were constructed in the same era. The Highland’s architectural design has won many accolades throughout time and is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and Washington Heritage Register of Historic Places! The Highland full historic restoration was completed in 2021 with modern electric, plumbing, and new amenities such an in-suite washer and dryer, stainless steel appliances, new flooring, and more. Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at Highland Apartments
As a tenant at a property managed by NW Apartments, I feel compelled to share my experiences, despite its fabulous location. Firstly, the lack of responsiveness from the management team is highly disappointing; emails and phone calls often go unanswered for days, if not weeks, leaving urgent matters unattended. The maintenance and cleanliness standards are dismally low, with common areas, especially the trash disposal zone, rarely cleaned, leading to unsanitary conditions. This is particularly frustrating given the overpriced nature of the property, which one would expect to ensure top-notch services and maintenance. A notable example of mismanagement was when my parking spot was mistakenly allocated to another tenant, a clear oversight that caused me considerable inconvenience. Furthermore, the poor sound insulation in the building is a constant annoyance, as I can clearly and loudly hear the upstairs tenants, disrupting my peace and quiet. This is again surprising given the high rental cost, which one would assume includes a certain standard of living quality. Additionally, the near impossibility of getting in touch with anyone in a position of authority at the management company exacerbates these issues, making it difficult to address these concerns in a timely manner. Overall, while the location of the property is undeniably attractive, the combination of unresponsiveness, poor maintenance, noise issues, and overpricing significantly detract from the living experience, leading me to advise potential tenants to thoroughly consider these factors before making a commitment to this property.
great apartment if u want to hear everything your neighbors ever do. literally I can hear my upstairs neighbors snore. at least when their dog isn’t making too much noise to cover it up.
