Stop by one of West End's many bars and taverns, such as Tavern on Liberty or Jack Callaghan's Ale House. If you're more of a do-it-yourself type, head to the Brew Lab to pick up some hops and other brewing supplies.

Property Ratings at Highland Gardens Apartments, Allentown PA

These reviews are fake, do not be fooled. You will regret signing a lease at Highland Gardens. If you absolutely have no options, sign a month-to-month lease, but I would honestly recommend sleeping in a shelter than dealing with this property management company. This place was a dream when it was owned by Oxford Realty, but when Half Penny Management purchased the property, it completely went to hell. Get used to speaking to the leasing offices answering machine. Any maintenance request will be completed a month later, and with the thoroughness of a a toddler. We literally had a fly infestation in our apartment foyer for months (I lived in the most expensive apartments by the way) and after daily complaints from all the residents, nothing was done to rectify the problem. Maintenance would reply weeks later basically stating they had no solution. The staff are extremely rude, and although you’re given parking passes, somehow theres never available parking. There are two dumpters assigned to roughly 200 residents, and good luck climbing through the constant mountain of old furniture to throw your trash out. I’m not one to write reviews but I would be doing a disservice to anyone considering renting an apartment at this dump. There are MUCH better options at better prices. STAY AWAY!! You have been warned

It is unfortunate you felt the need to express such negativity toward the employees at Highland Gardens, when they tried to keep up with your continuous issues. We have & will continue to make improvements to the buildings, we have received such positive feedback regarding the improvements & staff. The reviews are definitely not fake, just happy customers expressing their satisfaction.
My daughter and I moved into a Vintage apartment a year ago. We loved the charm of the older building, but our needs changed and we very recently moved into a Contemporary unit. We love it! It is so spacious with tons of closet space! We're thrilled with a washer/dryer/dish washer in unit for a very reasonable price. And Kathy, the property manager, is easy to work with and strives to meet our needs, alerting us to a balcony apartment that became available during our search for a 2 bed/2 bath unit. Maintenance is accomplished in a timely fashion and Israel is so easy to work with. I love the grounds and the deep west end neighborhood and couldn't be happier in my transition to apartment life!

Thank you so much for your kinds words. We are so happy you have made Highland your he & are enjoying it! Happy New Year & best wishes for a great year!
I moved into the Vintage complex with my sister about three months ago. With this being my first apartment I was nervous It would not feel like home. highland Gardens has proved itself to be a lovely, safe and happy place to live. The price is affordable for the size. Charming hard wood floors and ample closet space. You hardly pay any utilities and sleep soundly at night. On site laundry facilities are clean and respected by other tenants. And it’s also pet friendly! Very happy with this cozy place.
We moved to Highland Gardens nearly 3 months ago and it is everything we could have hoped for! Nestled into a quiet corner of West Allentown, the complex is centrally located near a yoga studio, cafes, colleges, schools, grocery stores, and is not far from the Allentown Art's District. The neighborhood is beautiful and safe, perfect for a stroll, or morning run. Our spacious 2 bedroom unit is reasonably priced and includes water and heat in the rent. It's hard to find a nice apartment that is pet friendly, and the pet fee is nominal. The property manager, Kathy, and the maintenance staff are quick to respond to any maintenance needs we have within a day or two. I was nervous to move from a single family home into an apartment complex, as someone who goes to bed early and get up early for work, but I have slept soundly since we've moved in. I cannot recommend Highland Garden's enough. You will not find this nice of an apartment for this price anywhere else in the Lehigh Valley. It has the vintage beauty of the 1930s with all of the modern amenities and luxuries and tons of natural light.
My husband and I are very happy in our apartment. The tree-lined neighborhood is beautiful and we love the dogwoods, fire bushes, Rose of Sharon, irises, daffodils, and lilacs. Matt is very quick to help us when we need repairs. It is a quiet neighborhood, with lots of grandparents and really nice families around us. We love it!
I have lived here for 1.5 years. I love my apartment, it is roomy, hardwood floors, very quiet, they maintain then property and has laundry facility down the basement. It also includes water and heat. Can not beat that for $977 a month. Besides it being in a very quiet secure area, it is only blocks from my 1st graders school. And hebis not good with change, plus he loves his school and home.
A great apartment complex. Very close the Muhlenberg College and Target and Gigant. The apartment is located in a great neighborhood, every day you see people walking with babies,r pets and going for runs. Maintenance takes care of issues right away.
I started living here when I took a job at nearby Muhlenberg College. Highland Gardens is a perfect location in relation to the college, no more than 5 min drive so close enough to be convenient yet far enough not to be near the bustle of campus. The area around the apartment is filled with families, not college kids. Also centrally located in relation to main highways (Northeast Extension, Routes 22, 309, and I-78). The complex itself is exceptionally well-run; the Leasing Manager and maintenance man are very responsive and personable. Cannot recommend enough, I've been very happy here for several years!
I came here, under the impression it would be a better neighborhood, with better staff members. Unfortunately, everyone was very rude, kids were throwing stuff around by cars, and it was just not for me. Very disappointed in this place!!!

There are similar brick buildings near our community and we are frequently confused with them . After checking our guest cards and noting this commentor mentions "everyone" and "staff" (plural), I think this person simply went to the other place. It's unfortunate that they were disappointed, with whatever place they saw, but they are welcome to visit our community in the future!
I absolutely loved living here. I am a Muhlenberg graduate that lived here for 2 years. The apartment was very clean and spacious. maintenance was perfect. Matt was always friendly and fixed any issues we had extremely fast. Anne, our landlord, was so kind and welcoming. My roommate and I really enjoyed talking to her and she went out of her way on multiple occasions to help me. The location is beautiful and only a few blocks from my school, so my roommate and I had no issues walking to campus. I leave with nothing but happy and positive memories from my stay at Highland Gardens. Anne and Matt are great!!
I lived at Highland Gardens for about 3 1/2 years. I lived in both the newer and older buildings and enjoyed each immensely. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Anything that I needed was fixed promptly and the property manager was always attentive and available for any problems or questions that arose. The complex is well maintained and is in a great location in the west end of Allentown. Its beautiful and safe neighborhood.
