Property Ratings at Highland Park at Northlake
On our moving day I was super excited being that the model apt was everything we wanted but it turned out bad. First off the apt wasn’t ready we were walking in while the cleaning lady was finishing . Soon as we walked in it was very dark and gloomy the lighting was trash, the first thing we noticed that the cabinets over the fridge was literally hanging diagonal, there were two more drawers diagonal. Sugar and stains all in the cabinets the cleaner did not do a good job cleaning. The ceiling fan was hanging on by a thread in the living room. The bathroom fixtures had some type of rust stain on it. There was no shower head in one of the bathrooms. The outlets in the living room did not work, blinds were dirty. The tubs were dirty, everything you can think of was just ugly. Also we were told that our apartment was gonna look exactly like the model except the lighting in the kitchen, but in the bathrooms you have granite grey and black countertops while the tub tile are beige. They gave us an old apartment and rushed us to move in.
It is noisy constantly throughout the day (mowing is a full 8 hours every Monday, leaf blowing, pressure washing, cutting down trees, redoing the outdoor dog area, cleaning the resident windows while staring in, several dogs barking throughout the day and night, coming onto the resident porches without notice - yes even those not on the ground level, etc.). Additionally, the gym is never cleaned, and several pieces of equipment do not work. The "renovations" are sloppy and were completed while we were home after being promised to be finished before we moved in. Our work requests for a year living there have included: our door (literally could see into the apartment through the handle, damage from the PRIOR TENTANT, and took them over a month to replace, the air conditioning, dishwasher, oven, pest control for cockroaches, and the garbage disposal to just name a few. Furthermore, we were 6 days late giving notice (yes, I completely own this was my fault) and they charged us $5,367.58 for those 6 days. Save your money and your mental health, and please live somewhere else.
Highland Park needs a serious overall! Parking is a horrible, the management team is almost nonexistent and the layout/lighting is trash. The one positive review I would have is of the parcel lockers (just need a light for when it’s dark) and maintenance
Living at Highland Park is a wonderful experience. I have lived here almost 8 years and have found the Office Staff to be friendly and helpful. Whenever I have had a maintenace issue it is addressed properly. The buildings and grounds are kept up well. Overall, it's been an excellent experience living here and I'm looking forward to living here for years to come.
Very clean neighborhood. Very quiet. Great amenities. Clean beautiful apartment.
It is no amenities here. The workout room is dirty and have a few pieces of equipment that may or may not work on any given day
I have lived here for 2 years now . Truth I'm only still here because my fiance and I are trying to look for the perfect house. However everyday I regret it ! When we originally moved here there was an issue the first day with the apartment not being ready. They had to change the carpet because of a smell or something. Which my family and I drove 3 hours to get here with our Uhaul and everything. Talk about PISSED! So because we packed all our stuff and trusted our place would be ready on day we were told we had no choice but to stay we already signed paperwork and everything. Sooo fast forward time goes on things in apartment start to break, we encounter silverfish bugs on our wall, lighting in kitchen ALWAYS blows, and more. We complain...management acts as if they have never heard any of these complaints before and claim to fix each problem but dont. So fast forward again we move to another apartment for bigger space and bug issue. Well this one is NO better! Countertop is lifting, neighbors have changed too many times to count in less than a year. The neighbors I have now have way over 2 heart beats to a room, office staff is never any help, oh and guess what NOW WE HAVE HOUSE CENTIPEDES!!!!! And I swear I clean every day !! To know this is not even the half of the issues..I legit cant wait til my lease is up this time! Idc if were ready or not we are out!

I love the community. I have lived here for 3 years and am renewing my lease again. It is so well kept, safe, and the staff are so nice. It is a small enough community that the staff know you and greet you by name. Anytime company visits, they are so amazed at how nice the apartment is. I love it here.

Hello Highland Park Resident, We are happy that you are enjoying your stay here with us. We appreciate having you and look forward to creating more memorable moments. Warmest regards, Crystal Blount
I am in the process of transferring from Texas to North Carolina and the staff here have made it much easier than I expected. I was on a condensed schedule, so I could only come to the property at a very specific time. Once I arrived, I was greeted warmly and given some great advice about the complex as well as the surrounding attractions. A young man by the name of EJ was very knowledgeable about the Highland Park apartments. As far as the apartment, I was very impressed with the amenities and the appearance of the community. This is by far at the top of my list as I solidify my transition to Charlotte. Keep it up you guys! Nickolaus
Gorgeous community with great kitchen space. While I lived here I met many friends & friends for my dog! The maintenance team was always there within 1 day to fix any issue! I would definitely recommended this apartment community to my friends looking to move in the Northlake area!
If I wrote every reason not to move here, you would be exhausted at the end of this review. Bottom line, I can assure you there are better apartments in the surrounding area and I wouldn't waste a dime moving here. There are way too many places to live, to be fooled by the cute outside appearance of this complex, like the rest of us. Now, we are all just counting down until our leases are up. We have at least made new friendships because we all have the same complaints and regret moving here. There is nothing luxury about these apartments, extremely cheap and things fall apart all the time and you constantly step on staples from the carpet. They have had 100% turnover in staff and management and it just keeps getting worse. I have never met so many rude and unhelpful people in my life, and I have worked in retail for over 10 years. These are just a few complaints out of much worse ones that I have encountered and so have other residents. I promise you, you won't regret not living here!
From my experience, Highland Park has been absolutely dreadful. From day one our unit was missing a kitchen drawer, of which we were told a replacement had been ordered. After nine months of multiple work orders and complaints, we are still missing a drawer. As others have mentioned, the track lighting is a real piece of work. The slightest shake from upstairs and the entire track goes out. And on the topic of power, the electric in our unit is a complete mess. There's at least one outlet per room that does not work at all. There's also one special outlet in the living room that trips the breaker if anything is plugged into it. There is seemingly no enforcement of the parking regulations either. Entire streets are often littered with curb-parked cars, essentially turning them into one-way lanes. In short, Highland Park seems like a gamble. Others seem to be doing fine, but we've experienced nothing but maintenance issues, neglect from the old staff, and utter incompetence from the new staff. Any attempt at discussion will be met with canned, corporate-speak responses from the front office. The support here is beyond abyssal, and I can only pray these next few months of the lease fly by without anymore issues.
Highland Park at Northlake is a brand new community that's close to everything I love!!!
The apartment complex is clean, quiet. It is very pet friendly and family oriented. it has a great community vibe.

The community is new and has had it's hiccups but was recently taken over by a new property manager. Things are looking up! We really enjoy being with in walking distance of the mall and our favorite restaurants! Having 77 and 485 down the street is also very helpful. Making a trip to Concord, Huntersville, or Uptown only takes about 20 minutes. We have a new trash pick up service that comes straight to our door on the weekday which is very convenient! We do have a 10 pm sound ordinance which is nice when you need to get up early for work or to take care of little ones. Highland Park at Northlake is a quiet neighborhood and has a great location.

I have just moved in recently and so far the overall experience has been a good. In the beginning it was questionable but the errors that were made were corrected. The walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors next door. The three bedrooms do not have garages in close proximity which is an inconvenience. If you have a king sized bed in the master bedroom in a 3 bedroom the room will be tight. But overall it looks like it will be a pleasant experience.

The apartment itself is nice. We were the first people to move into the apartment and have been here about a year. Not built with the highest quality materials but cant complain. The pool and gym are nice as well. Although not protected and there are usually tons of people at the pool that do not even live here. The cops have come to break up pool parties that have gone on past 10 p.m. The staff is not helpful and is usually fairly rude and acts as though we the tenants are an inconvenience. In less than a year our neighbors have changed at least five times. They also do not do a good job of keeping up with occupancy standards as some of our neighbors have over ten people living in one single apartment which creates a huge parking problem. The apartments are not very expensive but the environment is not worth the savings.

I just recently moved to Charlotte and I love every aspect about it. A peaceful place to lay your head is always most important and I'm at peace. Highland Park at Northlake is a magnificent atmosphere encompassing beautiful people and immaculate buildings and landscape. Without a doubt, I couldn't live anywhere else!

Location is everything for us! Being within walking distance of the mall and a variety of restaurants has been wonderful. With highway 77 and 485 down the street: Huntersville, Concord and Uptown are only about 20 minutes away. The staff and maintenance crew have always been friendly and helpful. One thing we really like is that we have a trash pick up service on the weekdays. However, as much as we like it here you can only have 2 guests per renter at the pool or club house at any given time and have a 10 pm noise ordinance. People seem to keep to themselves here so if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood with a great staff and great location Highland Park is for you.

When I first moved in, I was very excited because I was the first to live in my home ! Everything was brand new. After a few month I really started to notice the TRUE quality of the home. The faucet constantly needs to be fixed, the wood used to build my balcony, was installed on the wrong side so that I see the serial numbers on them, there was writing left on my walls from construction, the list could go on and on. The company just changed management companies so there is a HUGE lack of communication between the staff and residents. The number to the office has even been changed so if I have an emergency I wouldn't know who to contact!!
