Property Ratings at Highland Park
Love living here. Love the space staff and property.. and I haven't even been here for pool season yet. It's a beautiful place and I always get so many compliments .
Lived here for 2 years and couldn’t be more happy with the stay here. I’m surprised there are so many negative comments. Management is top notch, maintenance is very responsive, and very clean and nice apartments. You have access to three of the surrounding TLC apartment amenities like the pools and gyms. The location is great, only a ten min drive from Missouri State University. If your looking for a nice quiet place to stay this is it!
I find it odd that there are soo many positive reviews here. If you have ever lived here, you know better. In short, these apartments were built very shoddily and they were built in 2003. Any, and I mean any, movement by anyone above you will be heard with loud, creaking floors and it is noisy. It's because the floors were never reinforced, which means that whenever your neighbors above you walk at all, it makes a loud ruckus in your apartment. You can't very well tell them to stop walking, but it is intolerable. Not to mention the walls are paper thin also. Of course, management is powerless to do anything about it. If you value peace and quiet, I would NOT recommend this apartment complex at all. It's crappy and overpriced for what you get. I plan to relocate at the first available opportunity. NOT a good example for TLC.
The transition to being a TLC property hasn't been great. The 1st property manager we had under TLC was hardly there during office hours and left early all the time. Now there is a guy office manager and he's better. We have the noisiest upstairs neighbors I have ever experienced. We have attempted to file noise complaints on them, but can't since it's not within "quiet hours". I have to be up incredibly early in the morning and can't go to sleep because of the woman living upstairs who constantly sounds like she is going to fall through the floor at any moment. I think it's very inconsiderate that they don't take into account people's schedules. Not everyone works a 9-5. That will be the main reason I'm not going to renew my lease this coming year.
The move to TLC was not a good one for everyone. The policies changed, and not in most people's favors. The trash people started coming late. The trash around the grounds was not being picked up. The pool was not as clean. The landlord was not nearly as nice as Carolyn used to be. They never gave us our deposit back, even though our apartment was " the cleanest she had ever seen" and they took my belongings out of spite. They are immature and out to get your money. I would never recommend renting with TLC, but since they have a monopoly in Springfield, I don't see there being much of a choice. Good luck to all. Make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing with this company.
I've lived here for six months and absolutely love it. They just switched management companies to TLC, and it's so much better. Old management made a lot of mistakes and were a bit rude (they gave me late notices when I paid rent, said I had "wood bugs" when I saw a cockroach), however, I've had absolutely no issues with new management. They keep everything up to date, keep up with maintenance and grounds, and keep residents up to date with changes around the property. It's a great value for such a nice new complex in such a nice area!
