Duluth Heights is Duluth’s largest neighborhood and is known for its natural beauty and modern amenities. Duluth Heights has rental options for every style and budget, from affordable houses to upscale apartments. This leafy neighborhood is characterized by rolling hills, spacious yards, public parks, and homes hidden among acres of woods. Although Duluth Heights embodies the secluded feel Minnesota is known for, the neighborhood has plenty of suburban staples located along U.S. Highway 53. This long thoroughfare is filled with department stores, grocers, chain restaurants, and more. Miller Hill Mall is also located along Highway 53. Duluth Heights is family friendly with good schools and proximity to several colleges. Duluth Heights is near Lake Superior College, the College of Saint Scholastica, and the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Property Ratings at Highland Village Apartments
The property management and upkeep is excellent. Snow is cleared right away and grounds are kept neat throughout the year. I was there for 14 years, and the same property manager lived on-site the entire time. He is always responsive and is willing to work with you on any issues that come up. Maintenance was always there within 24 hours and things were fixed as soon as possible. For night-time emergencies, they have someone there immediately. Central location is convenient to get to everywhere you want to go in Duluth. Would recommend.
Really nice green space all around, and great views of the lake. We enjoyed our time there. Management was very responsive to any concerns.
Easy access to all of Duluth, walking and biking trails outside your door, responsive management team, beautiful views, comfortable apartments
Nice apartments complex. I lived there for 4 years and I enjoyed living there. Maintenance is prompt. They maintain lawn pretty good, but snow removal could be better. They try to clean as early as they can but they hire third party for major snow removal which sometimes is late but still, they have their employee clear the path at least. It’s centrally located and is about 5/10 minutes drive from mall and canal park. Super easy!
In a great, quiet location with quick access to anywhere you could want to go in the Duluth areas. Apartment itself very ready to move in and spacious for the affordable price. Staff/management are always very friendly, happy, and quick to help. If I didn't need to relocate for school, I would not have even thought of moving out of my apartment here. Will definitely check availability if I move back to the area. I would highly recommend checking out Highland Village apartments.
I lived here for 3 years and loved it, it’s a great apartment for people with children, as there is a play ground right on the apartment grounds. It’s also great for college students, as the UMD/St. scholastic bus stops at both sides of the complex and it is a quiet and peaceful area. They have lovely plants and flowers around each building, lots of picnic tables and grilling stations. It’s a quick trip to the mall area and also quick to get to both college campuses. It’s in a great location. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and they are very timely during the rare occasion something went wrong/needed to be fixed. It’s a great place to live, I really recommend Highland Village!
I can't say enough about the Highland Village apartments and the maintenance staff! My partner and I were looking for a place during our 3 year sabbatical in Duluth, MN. We were required to move during the Fall college semester and were unsure if we could find a place due to limited availability. The property manager was upfront with what each apartment option cost and the average price for cable and any utilities we would be responsible for. We didn't feel pressured at all. This is a wonderful place to live! You can't beat the location - you are just a short drive to Lake Superior or the Miller Hill Mall and very accessible to state highway 35. The staff and neighbors were great. Property Management would send out newsletters for any upcoming events or if you wanted "Trick-or-Treaters" during Halloween, you would simply hang a decoration on you door indicating you were home and able to handout candy. If ever anything went wrong, maintenance was quick to respond and resolve the issue. They would provide a substitution, if a part or replacement was required. The building also offers indoor storage (at no extra charge), on site laundry, garage(additonal charge)-William
I was in Duluth for two years. Originally from Oklahoma, the winters were hard for me. However, during my stay at Highland Village, the staff was helpful and handle maintenance calls within 24-48 hours. One the most important things for me was that the heat was included in the rent as the winters were extremely cold and lots of snow. Maintenance staff was always respectful and friendly and the Manager Nunnu was always willing to help and easy to contact. The property is kept clean and when snow fell the staff would begin removal very early in the morning from the steps, sidewalks and streets. The community overall the apartments are safe and neighbors are quiet. I had no problems with residents or staff. I recommend these apartments highly as I had a pleasant stay.
Very upset with this place. Was told I could transfer from a one bedroom to a two bedroom and my fiancé and his daughter were moving in and moved out of their place, and then after they said never mind you can’t. Very unprofessional!! Do not recommend.
Property Manager at Highland Village Apartments, Responded To This Review
This review is not completely accurate. We have a policy that a tenant cannot transfer to another apartment until the end of their first lease. The question to transfer was never asked by the tenant until they were six months into their first lease. They were told they could not transfer until the end of the first year, and thus the review. This has been a company policy for several years. Management
The office staff was great to work with as we were moving 2 1/2 hours away and needed to be out at the end of the month and they were willing to allow us to move into the new place sooner.
