Allegan is a small industrial town surrounded by the idyllic countryside of southwest Michigan. The city’s landscape is perhaps most distinguished by the abundant historical architecture on display, with countless Victorian homes, stately public buildings, and the Second Street Bridge (better known as the “Old Iron Bridge” to locals) giving Allegan a timeless character.
The Downtown waterfront district in particular has been beautifully preserved, with the charming storefronts actively in use overlooking the Kalamazoo River and landmarks like the preserved Regent Theatre still active nearly a century after its founding. Positioned roughly halfway between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, living in Allegan allows you to live a tranquil small-town lifestyle with two much larger cities less than an hour away.

Property Ratings at Highpointe Apartments
I had high hopes when we first moved in, but those quickly diminished. Trash and dog poop ALL OVER the property. They allow smoking INSIDE the apartments, so ours constantly smelled like smoke from the people below us. Broken appliances and random crayon or paint on cabinets and walls from tenants before us. Just dirty everywhere. We bought out of our lease as soon as we could.
I get a notice for an "immobile car" because my wife is on maternity leave and we don't use our vehicles as much atm... what a shameful place to say you are in charge of... On top of which their apartments are horribly maintained with bandaids used to fix everything. I have a vanity where half of one of the bottom sides is all molded and busted out. Underneath every sink the shelving is useless due to previous tenants misuse and were not replace when I moved in.
We have been at Highpointe for four years, and don't really have any complaints! The maintenance crew when we first moved in was your typical crew, slow to have things done. They have since replaced the old crew, and we couldn't be happier. Sadie typically fixes things same day, and doesn't mind taking the extra time or money to make sure it is done correctly the first time. The only negative I can think of is parking can be a little limited in our building, but management has tried to remedy this, so we appreciate that.
Maintenance and office Personnel are incompitent and unreliable. Buildings and units are a extreamely cheap and falling apart. Grounds and surrounding areas are very unsafe. Had multipule issues with breakins during residence.
Property Manager at Highpointe Apartments, Responded To This Review
I am so sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with Highpointe Apartments and that we have not exceeded your expectations. I really would like to make things right so you enjoy your stay here with us. If you could please provide me with further information in regards to the grounds and surrounding areas being unsafe I will strive to rectify the situation as quickly as possible as my residents' safety is of top priority. Please call the office at 269.686.8233 or feel free to stop into the office. Thank you."
I recently moved in and as I moved in my apartment flooded.. Sadie the Maintenance supervisor bent over backwards to fix the situation. Had modernistic out the same day.. when it flooded again she gave me the choice to stay or move to a new apartment at no extra cost. As the drain field was failing and the rain was non stop...I chose to move and had no one to move me.. she offered her son to help me.. although it was a rough situation Highpoint didn’t make me stay in a crappy situation. Sadie is always right on top of things even though office staff and management has changed.. she can always answer any questions!!
Hi my name is Matthew Reed i'm about to be married in about 2 day's, we have been living hear at Pritchard Estates Appartments about 4 month's and been a little hard, being rent about $745 a month this would really help us, we go to grocery store about every two weeks and spend about $73, and about $27 for gas, but for the most part we have some good times. have a wonderful day.
