Property Ratings at Highpointe Apartments
My husband and I moved in right after we sold our house. We first tried their renovated studio for a year. It was a very nice studio but unfortunately we outgrew it- The pandemic made my work a remote position. We talked with the management company and was able to move across the hallway into a two bedroom one bath in July 2020. The apartment is 650 ft.² with a fairly small kitchen. The layout is pretty nice and the larger bedroom fits our king size bed and two side tables without any problem. The second bedroom is smaller and we use that as an office. Now that I am moving to permanent remote working position, we are looking for a larger two bedroom since I’ll be at home more often. We are talking with the staff again about transferring and will definitely be renting within the company. The maintenance is very attentive and the staff is very nice. While we were living in the studio they made the laundry facilities free which saved us quite a bit of money. It is a common laundry room however it cost nothing to use the washer and dryer. The other residents are very nice and keep to themselves in general. With that being said the laundry room is usually empty and it’s not really an issue doing laundry unless it’s a Saturday night or Sunday morning. Packages come straight to the door and there’s plenty of parking. I would definitely check out At Home Apts in Mission- This is the management company that owns The Lookout- and look at all of their properties. We really like the location of The Lookout and will be sad when we move to a larger two bedroom because IKEA in our backyard is pretty awesome. Also the Merriam Police Department is it on the same block as the apartment.
I'm only moving because of job change. Been here 11 years and it has been a great experience. Friendly helpful management, prompt professional maintenance staff, great neighborhood. Hate having to leave.
At Home Apartments/KC, operates multiple complexes in the NE Johnson County area, with their main office located in Mission. I've lived in three of their buildings since 2005 and keep renewing the leases as I find it very peaceful here. Management screens out troublesome tenants, they exclude persons with criminal histories, sexual predators and those who are unlikely to pay their rent. I have NEVER heard yelling, fighting or disruptive behavior from any of my neighbors. Silence is golden. The building demogrphic consists of quiet individuals and their spouses/significant others. Everyone I've met here I've gotten a positive vibe from, such that if I ever needed their help, they would gladly lend a hand. Aside from that, most of my fellow tenants keep to themselves. There are no 3am Jose Quervo Tequila parties. I'm not sure why, but I never hear the sounds of crying babies, nor do I see Big Wheels in or around the building. Maintenance is Super and stuff gets fixed fast! Landlord cares about their property and just installed a complete NEW A/C system in my unit - not because it was broken - because it was generating some outrageous elective bills, Replaced some aging yellowed vertical blinds and cleaning the carpets as well. There are also new major external appearance upgrades coming this spring I am told. Thru the years, I've gotten to know most of the staff by name and I am NEVER nervous bout their occasional entry to my apartment for repairs, should I be out. These sorts of things reflect positively upon the building owners, but more importantly, their experienced management who knows what they are doing. Living in AtHome's rentals have been a pleasure. Because Highpointe sits back off the street, we don't have any thru traffic, nor do we experience foot traffic from strangers who don't belong here. Management has installed HD video cams in various areas. I feel very safe here and have no qualms about my spouse being lone here when I'm away. This complex appears to have ZERO crime. If you thrive on drama and/or conflict, this isn't the spot for you. Try getting something fixed where you live now. Instead of it taking weeks, maintenance team knocks it out in a day to minimize disruption to the lives of their tenants. I've lived all over KC, but my experience here has been been great!
