Situated along San Pablo Bay north of San Rafael, Novato is a stunning city with fantastic views of the bay and the mountains. It is directly east of Point Reyes National Seashore, a spectacular park covering more than 71,000 acres on the Point Reyes Peninsula. This is the place to go for whale-watching, visiting the Point Reyes Lighthouse, and hiking (see the views from Arch Rock or walk the 308 steps to the lighthouse).
Being part of the San Francisco Bay area, Novato feels country cool with an urban edge. It is home to some major companies, such as BioMarin Pharmaceutical and SPG Solar, and it offers fantastic shops and restaurants in its historic and trendy downtown, wrapped around Grant Avenue. Must-visits include the Novato History Museum, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge, and Olompali State Historic Park.

Property Ratings at Hill Valley Apartments
Never apply for their apartment. They charge $40 application fee on each person. The processing takes forever. And they finally told me that I am not qualified and refused my application. My credit score and job income are fantastic, and asked them why. They told me that apartment has been rented already. I asked them to refund my application fee since they probably rent that out before charging me the application fee. They told me the application fee is non-refundable. They are like a big cheater on that!
I have lived in Hill Valley Apartments for about a year and found it as a great fit for a great price! It is one of the hidden gems of Novato, it has close by a shopping center, large recreational areas, and Rancho Elementary School, the highest scoring school in Novato. But it is outdated and has some slightly small apartments. I would advise this place for a couple with children, ages up to 11.
My Husband and I have lived at Hill Valley for 5 years. We have really enjoyed our apartment. Hill Valley is a very reasonably priced spot compared to others in the area. The overall appearance of the complex is well maintained. It is older but the landscaping is nicely done and the building is kept up. As for our unit, as mentioned it is older and could use some updates. However, it is has been a perfect spot and we have no big complaints. The living room is large and we have a wonderful, vaulted ceiling (in 2nd floor units) this helps open up our space. Our specific apartment is 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The bedrooms are an average size. The bathroom has been recently updated. The kitchen came with new appliances. Our favorite thing about our unit is the view. We have a balcony that overlooks the beautiful, rolling hills of Novato. We get some incredible sunsets! We also have easy access to a track, restaurants, shops, and schools. We have never had problems with our neighbors. Everyone seems to keep to themselves but they are all very polite and courteous. The management and maintenance crew are great, very helpful, friendly, and respond to issues quickly. The one complaint we would have over the past years would be the lack of parking. Each unit comes with one covered parking space, any additional cars must find parking in a small lot in the complex or on the street. Unfortunately, the lot and street fill up quickly! I would highly recommend Hill Valley Apartments. It is a great value for the north bay. The fact we have lived here for 5 speaks for itself.
