Property Ratings at Hillside Creek
No issues when i was there. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Staff worker Isaac was quick to help with any issues or questions.
I moved in two days ago. My original move in date was 11/11. On the day I was supposed to move I I was contacted to be informed that the maintenance team needed more time because the unit was in bad condition when the previous tenants moved out. I paid two weeks and advance and spoke with the office team several times to check in and no one notified me of this ahead of time. I lost money on movers and I had already checked out of my hotel. I was called and told I could move in a day early since I had to re-sign my lease. Today when I called to express my concerns before my 48 hours was up I was informed that maintenance isn’t here on the weekends. Which explains why my unit was not ready. No one told me this prior. I understand apartments aren’t perfect but you can tell my unit was very rushed. They painted over dirt to the point to where there are hairs engraved in my bathtub where they did not clean it. The temperature gauge is messed up because the tub attachments are loose. My cabinets are smoke stained yellow. The bottom of my toilet was rusted and I had to scrub it on my hands and knees. It got better but there’s still a bit which verifies the unit was rushed. The inside of my cabinets are yellow vs the fresh white coat and the are holes in my living room wall where some this was mounted and not filled. I’m missing a blind on my back door, when you turn on the bath tub the entire tub handle pulls away from the wall like it’s going to come off. I’ll stop there. I notified the office and even offered to paint it myself if they’d just give me the paint. It was as if I was a burden when I’ve been very understanding and patient. I’m very disappointed, I wish they would’ve simply planned better
Whatever you do, do not move here A list:: -Water is REGULARLY off & you’re lucky if you get an email ((is this entirely their fault? No. Does it change the inconvenience? Also no. )) -Our rent was lost AFTER it was given & the receipt signed for. They were even nice enough to send a pre eviction notice. — when told we turned it in, they said ‘it could’ve been applied to the wrong apt because the writing wasn’t “legible” enough’ —when we told them where we saw them place it, they said it wasn’t there —when advised we had receipts so that was fine, there was a pause and we were advised to bring our receipts in —you know who found our rent? The FLOATING manager. In the exact spot they said they checked & couldn’t find it. (Almost two-three weeks after we turned it in) -Maintenance has tried to walk into our apt three or four times over our lease without checking their orders or even knocking -They constantly re-ask & threaten to charge for information despite having already been provided the items they asked for. -no one ever knows anything about anything. They always have to check and get back to you & there’s always new faces in the office or on the grounds -it took TWO MONTHS to get a mail key & we had to call for it every week or two weeks to get it -the gates never worked more than a day. I paid $75 for a gate opener -now i get it you never want your rent to return- but we’re going into a recession & out of a pandemic it might happen once or twice. They will remove your ability to pay online ALTOGETHER & you have to physically go to H-E-B and pay it there. They won’t take money orders(not that you would want them to after the above reason) —are they still going to charge you late fees and return fees? 100% - then you get to go to a store to make the payment -if you move out on the weekend like a normal person, make sure you’re done by 5 OR they’re gonna charge you for the additional days until you turn in the keys. —do they have a drop box? Of course not. —what do they want you to do then? Leave the keys in the apt of course. —are they gonna tell you that? No, they’ll tell you when you turn in the keys or when they call you to tell you ‘just in case I forgot to mention it, but don’t worry we’ll conveniently pull it from your deposit’ —what’s wrong with that you might ask? Anyone could walk into that apt after you’re gone. If they damage anything do you think the complex is gonna let that slide? Nope
This place is great and affordable. Has a gym, pool, parking, and a decent sized living space all in one. A great transitional living arrangement.
Beautiful gated apartment complex, nice pool area. The staff is so kind and helpful, and it's a great value for the area. 10/10 would recommend
Amenities are great. Management, Noelia and staff are wonderful .communication is great. A few things can be fixed but other than that I have no issues.
HillsideCreek has definitely had its ups and downs, right now the place is going up. I can really feel that the management here is genuine, and are trying to make this community a better place for the residence that live here and the people that will live here in the future. it may not have been the best place when the management was not where it should be, but I’m really looking forward to what this place has to offer now.
RUN AWAY from these apartments do not rent here!!! These apartments are worse than low income for double the price. Maintenance staff will BREAK INTO your apparent when you are not home or if you do not answer your door. ROACHES all over complex and in apartments. Dog poo and trash everywhere. The trash cans are always overflowing. My walls are cracking and splitting, the roof is stained from water damage and I live on the first floor. I’ve brought up these issues to front office multiple times with ignored responses and little effort. IT IS A HEALTH HAZARD to live here. Update: back patio has been broken into. We also now have an ant infestation all over the complex as well.
Don’t move here!!! I was not able to see the unit prior to moving saying that it was not ready to show until the day of my move-in. When I finally saw it, the unit seemed old (which I don’t mind if the unit is well kept) It was not the cleanest, and if I am going to pay over $1450 then my expectations are a little higher. The unit smelled like cigarette smoke. When I asked if I could switch to another unit, the manager told me that that was not possible since I had already signed the lease. I was told by them that they would call a company to run an ozone machine and that I couldn’t be home when that was running. Days passed and I had to keep reminding them about the ozone machine. I was not able to move in until a week later since we're not allowed in the apartment if that machine is running. Aside from the odor, the bathroom sink water didn’t run — it took them more than a month to fix it — there was a handle missing in the kitchen, and several other that were loose, and inside all the cabinets needed some cleaning. Some were rotten and in bad shape specially a bathroom cabinet that still had trimmed beard hairs I think from the previous tenant. I've also seen at least 1 roach every day since I’ve moved in. In the living room, the vertical blinds had some blinds missing, the oven door didn’t open all the way without hitting the handle of some cabinets, the dishwasher was not installed properly — the door was stuck behind the counter so I had to unscrew the machine from the counter to be able to use it. Another issue that I had with them was that my first and second months’ rent were never processed on my resident portal, as a result, I was accumulating late fees. It took them 3 months to fix this issue and then when they did fixed it, I brought up that I also needed a refund for the first week that I was not able to move in. I was told by the manager that they would have to see since they had already deducted so much off my rent, but really, they just deducted the rent that I had already paid for. Is now going to be 4 months that I’ve been at these apartments. I’ve visited the office multiple times to ask for that first week refund. Every time I go in, I have to explain my situation from the beginning. And either they tell me that they’re working on the case and nothing has been solved or the person that I want to talk to is not at the site. I don't really like leaving bad review but hope that this can help someone make a decision.
DO NOT LIVE HERE!! On 10/20 I reported to the office seeing a rat in my apartment. The previous evening I came out of my room at 10 p.m. to get a glass of water and after turning on the kitchen light, I saw a rat with a body at least the size of my hand standing on my counter attempting to climb up on the top of my stove (top portion with controls). The complex said that all of the "entry points were closed." I've been out of town all weekend and got home around 4:30 p.m. today to find this absolutely disgusting mess and confirmation of the rat that I saw previously. There is rat poop in multiple spots on my carpet, on my kitchen floors, dining table chair, behind my toilet, and worst of all on my couch! For the past few weeks, I noticed that one of my plants seemed to have bites taken out of it. I thought it might have been my dog, but this weekend confirms that it was not. The rat, or rats, were literally standing on my couch to lean over to eat the plant or climbed up in my plant to destroy it. This is unbelievably disgusting and a hazard to my health and my dog's. I can't stay here and neither can my dog, with the poop all over the apartment and not knowing where this rat or rats are living within my apartment.
I recently moved to Austin in the insane rush of everyone else in the country moving and the Hillside creek staff made it effortless for me. I really appreciated the information they were giving me regarding any changes in my home or move in date. It made my move from Canada to the United states smooth as can be!
I've been a resident at Hillside Creek for over 5 years now and I've just submitted my notice to vacate. I loved Hillside Creek because it was a good value, due to its proximity to downtown Austin, I-35, and all the amenities South Austin has to offer. Despite being an older complex, the quality of the build is good and the complex is well-laid out. However, the latest property management company, Northstar Residential / SRG Residential has not been providing the best service for its residents, nor providing the best upkeep of the property. The property management team lacks professionalism and basic communication skills (for example, returning calls, sending texts to residents informing them of a water shutoff or asking residents to move their cars immediately due to construction, without sufficient advance notice.) It's sad because there were much more competent and professional property management companies before and the residents deserve much better. I know of and have seen many other long time residents leave due to poor customer service.
Had rats in my walls. Management is unhelpful. Try to nickel and dime you for everything. Absolutely terrible experience. Do NOT move here.
They are very helpful and understanding of your real life; they treat you like an actually person instead of a unit or number like other places. I have peace knowing I am looked after and cared for at Hillside Creek!
My daughter lives in the development. She has been dealing with a rat infestation. While management has made an attempt to deal with the infestation they have not remedied it successfully. The first night after returning to her apartment after their extermination she heard rats behind the walls screeching and scratching She is unable to stay there and has lost sleep work and peace of mind. A neighbor in the building also had a rat prior to my daughters so their remedy apparently is not sufficient. They need a professional service And not a handyman to exterminate the entire building and notify all he tenants in that building of the problem so they can successfully get rid of them. My daughter wants out of her lease but they will not allow her out. This is greatly impacted her quality of life. Unless this is addressed properly she will have to obtain legal counsel
Live here if you like rats in your apartment and terrible management. They will literally laugh in your face if you ask them to fix anything. They will lie to you and be completely unprofessional. Do not live here.
I love my apartment! The value is good and the location is better. New staff is really going above and beyond to take care of the residents. If youre looking for a nice apartment near downtown that you dont have to pay high rise prices for this is a great option.

I have been holding my tongue for the past 13 months while I have lived here, but now I think it's time to save everyone the money and stress. THIS IS THE WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX I HAVE EVER LIVED IN MY LIFE!!!! 1. Do not use the community laundry here. Thousands of dollars worth of clothing have been stolen out of the dryer here two weeks ago. I gave the "property manager" (there has been a different one every single day) a detailed description of the resident that has lived here and since they don't keep photo ID's of residents when they move in (which means ANYONE can use anyone's social security number and move in here...disturbing!), they are unwilling to help me. Also, they have NO CAMERAS in any laundry facilities. 2. I have had 3 different flooding incidents I have come home to after work with my little dogs in the apartment.. the plumbing here is extremely old and awful. Once again, thousands of dollars worth of my belongings were ruined and I was NEVER given ONE SINGLE CONCESSION. 3. My AC/heater has gone out 12 times and every time maintenance came to fix it, they would simply recharge it and leave ignoring that the problem was I had a leak in one of the coils. A maintenance worker they were borrowing from another property caught the mistake. When the AC guys came to fix it, they left dirt, soot and dead bugs all over my bathroom as well as cracking my tub and scratching my sink. 4. After the third flooding incident, my dog and I grew increasingly sick . My dog could barely breathe and was on medication. I was told they "don't do mold tests" so I'm out of luck. After a call to corporate, maintenance came in, looked around and started pouring bleach in my walls. Hmm. Isn't bleach how you treat MOLD? 5. My car has been hit twice in the parking lot and broken into once. (I've spent a total of $750 on this). I've had to file police reports. The gates are never closed or working. 6. The apartments don't come with LIGHTS. That's right....zero lighting. I had to install my own and I still feel like I'm always living in the dark. 7. ROACHES. Need I say more? I am so thankful to be out of here. I'm over spending thousands of dollars of my own money because my belongings aren't safe here and the complete lack of customer service or care. You would think that since people can write reviews online, they would be more helpful or less rude. This is people's lives and homes. The whole place should just be torn down.
My daughter lived here for a year and recently moved. Upon her leaving, she didn't clean the place to the standard the management wanted and they charged her $220 to vacuum, remove a bag of trash and wipe out the oven. I tried to reconcile with them a lesser reasonable amount to clean an empty 900 square foot apartment, but they insisted. When you review their standard cleaning charges upon move out, you see a range for each item. Some examples are tub ($10-$60), refrigerator ($10-$50), floors ($15-$50). They choose the higher amounts because I'm sure their attitude is that they have lost the tenant anyway, why not gouge them for as much as possible. I know many complexes do this, but you should know that Hillside Creek is one of the worst. If you're a current tenant, make sure when you move out to clean to your best ability, but also be saving your money for items they will surely find despite your best effort and the coming charges. Hard lesson learned here.

My mother and I lived at hillside creek in the middle sized apartment for 2 years and 4 months. When we looked and lease everything is great. Everyone is so nice and respectful to you. Once we moved in, we were out of luck. When we moved in, there were roaches in the apartment so we requested to have pest control over. At first management didn't believe us so we showed them pictures. During the time we lived there, there were a lot of car break-ins. They tried to break in to my car, but I guess they weren't able to get to lower the window enough. Enough for me to notice. My tires were slashed twice. I woke up twice with bed bugs bites, one time on my elbow and the other time on my foot about 6 months apart. Pest control came over and claimed there was no sign of bed bugs. My bathtub paint peeled twice, the last time I couldn't get it fix because management said I had to leave my apartment for 2 days or not use my bathroom for 2 days since the paint smell was very strong and they wouldn't help me get a hotel room for 2 nights or at least deduct 2 nights off my rent payment to help me out so I was miserable until the end of my lease. The year of 2016 was a hard year for me because I was rear ended on 3 separate car accidents (March, August and January), my godmother passed away from stomach cancer and my mom's health deteriorated. With that said, I had difficulty paying rent, but I always paid it with late fees. Due to my payment history, they didn't renew my lease. What bothered me the most was that the nonrenewal notification was placed outside my door when it specifically said that they had to hand it to a resident or placed inside the door. They also notified me about a prior to move out inspection a day before, they never asked for permission they just barged in. When we moved out, I turned in the keys before closing time. Well, when I received the remainder of my deposit, they charged me for a dripping pan, oven cleaning, carpet replacement and 1 day of rent. I paid electricity for 2 days after I moved out, but they are not fighting me to pay for that. How convenient! To be honest, I think they already knew what they were going to charge me for when they did their prior to move out inspection. There was no need to clean for 12:30 hours like we did. I even cleaned the walls and ceiling.
I like the people who run the complex. But ...I have yet to have someone come out and address the aunt problem, the AC and the closet door in my bedroom. I'll keep giving the benefit of doubt though.
An apartment where I rented is excellent. It has secured parking lots with carports. It's very closer to downtown Austin. The area has awesome amenities such as community gas grill/BBQ, swimming pool, laundry room, and a small fitness center. The area frequently loses electricity which causes the secured gates to remain open and external lights being off under the carports overnight for most nights.
It's okay around the edges , the pool is very nice the area is beautiful and kept up with cleanliness, the inside of the apartments Are nice but doesn't have and ceiling lights or fans which is very unconvient.
