Finding a place to live in Aurora is no ordinary experience for newcomers. A mix of well-preserved history and community-wide creativity makes this city feel smaller than it actually is. Only Chicago has more residents, but Aurora's convenient and picturesque spot along Fox River has turned it into a transportation, entertainment, and shopping hub for urban commuters, suburban transplants, and lifelong locals alike.
Downtown streets are filled with masterpieces by everyone from Frank Lloyd Wright to George Grant Elmslie, who built more commercial buildings here than anywhere in the world. There are even dozens of still-standing homes built from Sears Catalog kits in the early 20th century. Among all this architectural history are rooms for rent, apartment complexes designed to blend in with the historic styles, and brand new units that keep springing up in response to growing business opportunities.

Property Ratings at Historic Stolp Island Apartments
I have moved and lived all over the country, and I have never had such an easy time getting set up in my new home. Management is top notch and truly care about the tenets in the building. One of the most prompt and friendly managers I've ever had the pleasure of working with! There is so much to do within walking distance of the lobby it feels like you're living in a big city with the convivence of a small one. I would recommend this place to anyone moveing near Auora IL.
The staff at the Stolp Island apartments (Fernando in particular) were an incredible help. They helped me expedite a relocation for work, and found me just what I was looking for. The building and apartments are clean and accessible.
Eight years ago I moved here after living 20 years in NC. I thought that I would never feel happily at home again with lifetime friends. Not only did I find a home, I found a community. Recently I suffered an accident that rendered me incapacitated on my right side. I am home in a wheelchair for now. While I was recuperating in a skilled nursing facility, my neighbors stepped in to care for my dogs and keep clean my apartment. Maintenance cleaned my carpets and prepared my apartment to accommodate my wheelchair. Some members of the maintenance staff went so far as to switching my office office and bedroom, on their own time after a long day at work. Corporate and management graciously worked with me, even helping me with a plan moving forward, as I completely recover. Never once did I ask for help, it was freely given. I can never thank them for everything everyone has done for me. These are my lifetime friends and this is my community. From Corporate, to Management, to Maintenance, to Residents, this isn't just where I live - this is my home!
I'm a seven year resident to life because this is home! From management to maintenance to housekeeping.... this is a family of people who really make me feel special! I enjoy the open door environment management has created with warmth and caring. Maintenance are my friends with smiles and greetings - personally changing a special ordered furnace filter my manager will remind me. Hugs and smiles from attentive housekeeping staff. This Is Home - My Home!
This 20 story building was constructed in the 1920's and is becoming completely modernized without throwing away the historic influence. Situated on an island between two branches of the Fox River it is the main landmark in one of the only locations in the Chicagoland region where you can get an urban feel in a suburb. The bars and restaurants in the area are all great and very diverse. There's a park with live music in the summer, a casino, and a live theater all right next door. The building is walking distance from the Metra and Pace station and always has plenty of Ubers in the area, plus there is an enclosed parking garage. Currently apartments are still being renovated so there is always some construction in the building, but that's only temporary. The building is completely pet-friendly and rent is comparable to similar buildings in the area. The management and maintenance team are simply the best. I highly recommend this building to anyone looking to relocate in the West Chicagoland region.
