Property Ratings at Holiday West Apartments
I currently live here and am planning to leave. I do not recommend moving here. The property manager is never present. If there is a problem, you would be told to submit a work order. The workers show up unannounced and do a subpar job. For instance, my bathroom cabinet fell, and they came with a new one without installing it properly. The roof collapsed and almost hit me (the roof is still not fixed, and it has been almost two years). Not to mention, there is a bug problem now; it's become an infestation, and I was told to submit a work order and nothing else.
Terrible. Kids run around all hours, screaming and using stairs or walkways upstairs of buildings they don’t live in. Bikes and toys are left thrown everywhere. The “security” gate is always broken. The walls are paper thin, so EVEN if you have courteous neighbors you can hear absolutely everything… especially people talking or even sneezing/coughing all night when you’re trying to sleep. Imagine when you don’t have courteous neighbors. If you’re downstairs like I was you’ll never have a quiet moment. Buildings falling apart and not fixed. Chunks of roof missing. Save yourself like I wish I had and don’t move here.
My partner and I have been living her for about 7 months now and are already looking for a new place to live when our lease is up. My boyfriend and I are both graduate students and work part time, however, will soon have full time jobs and would like a nice apartment. So I'll write the pro's and con's. Pros Rent is super affordable with accessible online payment option. We also rent a second parking space which only costs us an extra $30 a month, which is insanely affordable compared to other complexes we've viewed. The neighborhood isn't nice to look at, but has overall been safe and quiet as it is surrounded by 2 churches and 2 schools. The location is close to Target, Bella Terra, and the beach! I often joke that we live in Huntington Beach for a Westminster price. We have had little to no problems with insects. The apartment itself is functional and livable. The onsite manager is a sweet lady and always tries to be helpful. Cons -The apartment is old and falling apart. Our laminate flooring is constantly coming up, so I've resorted to gluing it back down. The carpet is disgusting. The walls are incredibly thin, thus, I know way to much about my neighbors. -This complex is made up with mostly one bedroom units with a handful of 2 bedroom units. From what I've observed from merely walking by other units is that most of the 1 bedrooms are filled up with families of 4-6 people. The 2 bedrooms are no better, our neighbors currently have 7-8 people living in there. Our complex does nothing to enforce the maximum number of people living in a unit which is outlined in our lease agreement. -Furthermore, this is a no-pet complex, however, I have seen a number of cats inside of peoples apartments. If you have allergies and are worried about animal dander this place is falsely advertising that they are a strictly no-pet complex. -Emergency 24 hour maintenance: also falsely advertised. We had a dead rat fall into the vent of our bathroom around 4pm. I called 3 times asking for an update as to when someone would be coming out. No one came until the next morning. We later found out that our maintenance guy is the one who gets the call and makes the decision whether your emergency needs to be his emergency. Dead vermin is a health hazard and violates city and county health codes. Overall: this place is okay. its good if you need a place to live while you're in school, work part time, or you're getting back on your feet. But once you're back on your feet RUN.
