Indian River is a charming neighborhood in Chesapeake, which became an independent city in 1963. It incorporated various community crossroads into a single city, but the neighborhoods retained their original community names, such as Indian River. The Elizabeth River runs along the north side of the neighborhood, with a tributary running down through the middle. Because of this, oysters and watermen were a big part of its history. Those are gone now, as the neighborhood is mostly residential, but the community continues to work together through the group The Friends of Indian River, actively involved in the community, planting trees, and keeping the roads waterways clean. There are a few small businesses in town, and residents sit equally between Chesapeake and Norfolk, where they’ll find job opportunities as well as dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreational opportunities.

Property Ratings at Holly Point
Be very careful with these people. They demonstrate a serious lack of integrity. My wife and I are renting a condo from the condo owners. We were negotiating with them about some upgrades. In case the negotiation went poorly, I wanted to see what 3-bedroom apartments were available in Chesapeake. Holly Point said they could notify me but I had to fill out an application and pay an application and administrative fee. I told them repeatedly that I was not interested in getting an apt right now, just wanted to see what a 3-bedroom looked like. They insisted on an application and a fee (they must have quotas). WITHOUT PERMISSION Holly Point somehow contacted the condo owners (I did not provide them with that information; don't know how they got it) and told them we wanted to move. Feels like sabotage and coercion. This has soured my negotiation with the condo owners. If it falls apart, I will be contacting an attorney regarding damages.
Just became a resident of Holly Point and am so excited! Liz had been the one who answered the phone when I had first called and was interested in Holly Point. From the rip she was so incredibly helpful and bared with me through all of the silly questions I had. She has been so wonderful and extremely knowledgeable through the whole process. Keeping in mind that this is my first time moving into a place I think I made a very good choice as to where it will be. Overall I would have to say that I am very excited and pleased with my experience so far!
I lived at Holly Point for three years until my husband got out of the military. We had very little problems there. When there was a problem or something that needed fixed the staff and maintenance were always polite, professional, and courteous. Their maintenance department was always on point and fixed things right the first time. Holly Point is also a great place if you have pets. They have a pretty large dog area and they allow large breed dogs. If we still lived in the area we would've never moved from Holly Point unless we bought a house.
Holly Point has the look and feel of a housing community, with the convenience of apartment living. The grounds are well-maintained and the neighborhood is pretty quiet. All of the residents that I've met are friendly and look out for each other. My apartment has LOTS of furniture space, storage space at no additional cost, and great closets!!! The community is great for pets too!
As a senior citizen,I am particularly interested in safety, comfort and pleasant atmosphere. I am so pleased with the in home security by my bed and at the entrance alarm system as well as the entrance to the complex guard. The staff is so prompt in making sure the residents are comfortable with all the in home amenities. One of the biggest kudos at Holly Point is how pleasant the grounds are kept whether you are taking a walk or just looking out your windows. I really like the diversity of the residents. The community is graced with young, old, and in between. It's so quiet yet full of life...accompanied by seemingly nice pets that are well behaved. Once you are here, you will certainly want to stay.
Holly Point Apartments at a first glance was beautiful and amazing.. then after about 6 months in I started seeing the downfalls. I'm in the middle about this place. The Good: -Beautifully kept grounds -Gated Security -Low Crime -no water bill The Bad: -Grounds keepers destroy personal property (Cars, door mats decorations in yard) -ridiculous rules (neighbor was away on vacation and had both cars towed at their expense because they resealed the parkinglot) -Front office does not care about anything but more money from you. -outdated windows (the windows alone cost me 100 in electricity in the summer) They leak heat/cold The prices are a little higher than most places and they seem to raise prices a significant amount each year. The grounds look very nice and they background check all tenants which is a plus. I've reestablished my lease for another year until my spouse and I find a house. I would suggest this for people who don't mind damages done to your car from grounds keepers and don't mind a hot apartment in the summer or a high electricity bill. I've lived in several different places around the area and chose Holly Point over them all. I would change a few things but for what it is it's a good starter apartment complex to help you work your way to a house.
Holly Point was the last apartment complex I visited before I moved to VA and I am soooo glad I found it. The staff members are extremely friendly and were very accommodating. I was temporarily living in a hotel and the rental agents worked with me to get me into an apartment quickly. This complex has TONS of apartments and floor plans. The units are very spacious and well taken care of. The area is very nice and quiet and neighbors are always friendly. Any maintenance requests that I put in are always taken care of in a timely fashion (next day). Very happy with HP! Extremely happy that I didn't end up somewhere else :-)
