Horizons at Indian River Apartment Homes

Was my first apartment and I enjoyed my time here. Looks like the pictures and the places are clean when you move in. Staff is phenomenal and very patient. Maintenance is great and gets jobs done within 48 hours. Cheapest pet rent around also. The location is great and is within 15 minutes of most places you need to go. The two closets in the master is also great. Although I do wish the kitchen was bigger than what I initially thought and saw in pictures. The inside of the buildings need to be updated more and kept clean especially the laundry room facilities. The parking is also an annoying issue so make sure to be home early if you want to get a spot in front of your building. I hated the laundry situation and the washer and dryers are expensive, run down and made my clothes dingy.I did love the big patios and the sliding patio doors. High quality blinds inside are also great, and held up wonderfully! Thanks for a great 2 years!

If i could leave negative stars i would, horizons at indian river is by far the worst i have stayed in, I have been making reports, complaining and doing exactly as you should report issues and they have not fixed my leaking roofs in 3 different rooms resulting in damage to my mattress, the hallways are always filthy, parking is bad and they advertise a pool that closed mid summer, the dishwasher gives off a bad odor, uneven floors under the carpet in some portion as well as the furnace closets looks terrible.

LOVE my apartment here! I just moved in about 2 months ago have no complaints. Felicia is the leasing agent that gave me a tour of there model apartment and helped me fill out the application and get moved in and she was SO SWEET and helpful the entire time and made the process go so smoothly and always answered my phone calls or gave me a call back within minutes!! The second day in my apartment, I noticed my thermostat wasn't working properly so I put in a service request for them to come fix it and the maintenance guy was there to fix it literally like an hour after I called :) Other then that, the apartment was just like the model and exactly how Felicia described! I would recommend this place to EVERYONE!

Terrible roach infestation. No parking. Gun shots. Noisy obnoxious kids DO NOT MOVE HERE

Really enjoyed living here so far. Lots of good places to walk my dog. I’m always hanging out in the kitchen because I love to cook. I think my favorite part is the location. Only takes me 5 minutes to get to the interstates which makes my commute to work that much quicker. Also, maintenance has been amazing so far. My heater went out a couple nights ago and someone was over within the hour and had it up and running. Just renewed for my second year.

When we first moved here in July 2016, it took longer than normal for the apartment to be ready to move in. We DID NOT view the apartment before signing the lease. We were promised a nice kitchen with black appliances. Instead, we have a small kitchen with no viewing holes in either wall, but we do have a dishwasher and a garbage disposal. The bedrooms and the bathroom were immaculate and clean. Now, to the real problem. The people upstairs. Each day, we can hear footsteps over our heads, hard footsteps and it's kind of embarrassing, especially if company is present. We hear the step at especially the wee hours of the night, every morning and every afternoon. I feel that if we are paying all the money that we have paid to live here, I believe that we should be living as comfortably as they are. We have asked you and them to keep it doing to nothing being done about it. One time, we had to call the police because it had gotten so very bad up there because they were fighting. We also had to call security about it, but they never showed up. Enough of that. As far as bugs, we have seen waterbugs and slugs, but never in the apartment. To make a long story short, if you know that footsteps are being heard, then no one should live above you and no one should live under the people that CAN hear it and get very tired of losing sleep. This is all I have to say. Improve all of the above and we would live here forever.

I have to say this has been by far my favorite apartment so far. I have lived here for about 4 months now and have no complaints. I guess maybe the only thing is parking on Friday nights but it’s manageable. I love my bathroom. That is what sold me is the tub! I have recommended everyone I know to at least take a look at these apartments! My favorite thing is maintenance. Every work order I’ve had gets completed the same day.

I love Love my apartment but what makes it so great is Kendra. Some times I get a frustrated with the tenants with all of the noise and doors slamming. I also think that we should be able to grill . If we could grill it would be perfect.

When I was on my apartment hunt I CLEARLY remember signs in front of the leasing office that said "Renovation Celebration"...I CLEARLY remember clicking on the "photos" section of the Horizons at Indian River Website and seeing a nice updated kitchen....I CLEARLY remember seeing the "model" and seeing a nice updated kitchen...so when I got to my actual apartment I was so disappointed to see a raggedy stove...cabinets with peeling paint, and a refrigerator with stains. I asked about the appliances, I was told that unless they were not working, then they wouldn't be exchanged... had this property not heavily advertised about updated kitchens/appliances I wouldn't be so upset. I feel the property mispresented itself x1000, and I'm so dissapointed... I would not recommend this property based on the lies alone...

I have lived in Horizon's Apartments since 9/25/2016 and I'd like to make this review as honest as possible, as I like to rely highly on reviews for many things.  First off when I had a somewhat difficult time even viewing my apartment prior to signing my lease.  (I refused to sign the lease without first viewing the apartment).  Apparently there was a lot of work that had to be done to my apartment so it took a little longer than expected (upsetting, but I worked through it).  So BOOM, now I'll fast forward to moving in 1.  The apartment was clean (they even put down new carpet, SHOCKER), I'm pleased but I know that there must have been a mess prior to me moving in.  2. ROACHES:  I saw about 2 roaches on the 2nd day there no big deal I'm sure the bombing process hasn't quite finished, fast forward to the 4th day I come to the apartment at night and turn on the lights in the kitchen and WOW, roaches everywhere.  Not only are they everywhere in the kitchen but they are coming from a crack in the living room UNDERNEATH the carpet.    I freaked out called maintenance and left a not so friendly voicemail.  Next day arrives and I speak to Kendra (she's the sweetest agent ever).  She assures me that the roaches will be gone soon as the apartment had recently been bombed (treated).  Cool, she's so assuring I take her word for it and trust me when I say she was right!  Had she not been I would have been very upset.  So since that incident I haven't seen many (maybe 4 in the past 5 months).  I can live with rarely seeing a roach because I know that they can come from other places, they just can't live with me!  Enough about roaches I occasionally have maintenance issues and they are right there when I need them so no issues there.  If it's after hours I can leave a voicemail and when I come home there's usually a note on the door indicating that they've been into my apartment and resolved the issue.  Staff is definitely good, they're always friendly...my personal fav is Kendra she's such a sweetheart, Shelly is very helpful as well as they are the main people I deal with. Overall this is a good place to live!

Me and my husband been living here for about 2 weeks now and the day we moved in we saw roaches in the kitchen bathroom and bedroom so nasty .... They promised fully renovated apartments and our kitchen looks horrible . We been fighting these roaches and all they can say it give it a few weeks with the traps . There should be no reason to even have roaches AND FLEAS ! You should take care of this before we where here now we are stuck in this stupid place for a year . Trying to make the best of it but also might just end up paying the fees for breaking the lease .

Awesome new upgrades make this excellent for first timers and new families.

I love my apt. I recently had trouble with my ceiling but maintenance resolved the matter fairly quickly. The office staff is extremely nice and helpful. The only thing I wish is that the residence had more guest parking.

I was familiar with this community 32 years ago when a friend lived here and did not know what to expect when walking into the leasing office. Wow, I was surprise with the renovation that the owners units. When I saw the unit I was to moved into, I was absolutely impressed not only were the appliances matching the kitchen décor but the countertop and back splatter is brand new. The closets are spacious for a two bedroom and the bathroom tubs are truly garden style and all of the fixtures are new, it really feels like home.

The place is beautiful, very convenient and has great staff on the job.

I love my apartment, my kids love their school. The crime issues are a bit much but we like it here. This would be a blessing right now

These apartments are very comfortable and easily accessible to main highways and roads. Its a great friendly environment for kids and family!

When me and my roommate moved in we were promised a remodeled bathroom. It's been 9 months of out 15 month lease and the bathroom is still untouched. The fan in the bathroom squealed and shrieked for about 6 months until either it broke or maintenance came and fixed after a call we made at least once a month. We had mold in our kitchen they didn't come take care of for 2 weeks. My roomates car has been broken into 2 times in the last month. We know for sure we won't be renewing our lease. It's convient for work and we thought the price was decent for our size of apartment but maintenance barely responds and there response time is so slow. Promises made just haven't been kept.

I moved into these apartments in the summer of 2013,I had never lived in an apartment building before so I knew it would be an adjustment from living in a house. I was very surprised by quality of the apartment,I moved into a 2 bedroom with full upgrades, which includes a beautiful kitchen with sleek dark wood cabinets a glass tile backsplash and all new appliances,that I fell in love with in a matter of seconds. I don't like cooking that much but I find myself just making an excuse to be in my kitchen even if it's to boil water for no apparent reason.... anyway back to the apartment. Everything is clean and fresh it really feels like you are in a new apartment building,you have on sight laundry rooms,they offer a 24 hour security. They have a breakfast bar in your kitchenyou have a beautiful new black gas stove beautiful dark wood ceiling fans. I couldn't be happier,oh and did I mention the friggin pool at the end of the summer they throw the residents a party and they give away prizes I honestly feel so welcome here,the staff in the office are really helpful as well as the maintenance staff is awesome too! If you have an issue with anything just give them a call and they will send someone out within 24 hours but by my experience it is usually within a few mins. They keep the grounds up nicely,you don't pay for water,your gas for cooking is free, all you pay is your rent,electric,and gas for hot water that's it!! They allow pets for a very small fee of $15 a month and you pay a one time pet fee of $200 initially,Iknow other apartments I looked at wanted double or even triple that and they added $50 to my monthly rent let's just say that was not going to happen in this lifetime. I dare you to find me an apartment complex that's does all this for under $1500 a month,you can't beat it at all trust me I know what I'm talking about. All and all you will be happy living here I promise.

Ive only lived here a sgort amount of time but it has been absolutely wonderful. The people are friendly and very helpful. I have 2 boys age 4 and 2 and they love to go outside and play with the kids in the neighborhood. Whenever i have any problems( rarely) maintenance and the rental office is always on top of it. Its one feeling to have your own place but its another one to be able to make a place a home for me and my family. Thank you Horizons at Indian River.!

My apartment is my new dream home apartment beautiful back flash black appliances extreme makeover bathroom. I kept my carpet cleanedfor The past five year my did not need replace because I always keep my apartment sparkley clean and the manager agreed. They way they remodeled my home is like a house I dreamed of living.

I just moved in last month, I have a great apartment and am really happy here.

Horizons at Indian River (Formally Cambridge Manor) is a mostly quite community with friendly neighbors. The apartment prices themselves are very good for the convenience to areas around us. Norfolk, Va Beach, and Portsmouth are all less than 10 minutes away (but there are tolls to Portsmouth). My only real complaint is the parking. Parking my own car and my roommates car is very easy. In fact, there are plenty of parking spaces. The management has a visitor pass policy where guests must visit the front office to get a pass. Generally not a problem unless you have a guess arriving at 5:01pm for dinner because they close at 5 and there is no way to get any after that. With the recent name change as well, passes are now limited to one per resident for every 72 hours. That means I can only have one guest every 3 days. So I have to choose between my best friend and my girlfriend. I don't know who's brilliant idea this was but it is a pain the the butt. Aside from parking, the staff is friendly and helpful and maintenance is very good. Overall I would recommend this apartment complex.
