Property Ratings at Hornet Commons Student Housing
Honestly I actually love living here. But recently my package was somehow “lost” in the mail room. And I have all the recipients and proof that my package was mailed here even a confirmation email from the hornet commons. I was still dismissed from the RA’s working saying I had picked up this package. But when my mom calls to ask them about it, my package was found. If I could give the manager Taylor a separate review I would 5/5!! She gets things done and figures out the root of the problem/issue instead of dismissing the residents. She apologized and told me that they labeled the package to the wrong building.

Hello, This post applied to Cape May at Harveston Apartments in Temecula, CA. I believe this review was intended for another location. THank you and have an amazing day! Thea Rainwater Community Manager
Don’t let the social media page fool you, it’s not as great as it looks. They say they want feedback from residents however the staff and management is extremely rude when approached with any complaints or questions. Parking situation is horrible. There are not enough spots for all residents so good luck finding a spot after 7pm, and there is no guest parking. Also they have us moving out on the last day of school and we must be out before noon. So we have to spend all of finals week packing:) We couldn’t even have the weekend? ps: We want the hammocks back:(

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave our community a review. Hornet Commons is aware some residents are experiencing issues parking at our property. Similar to other areas of campus, there is a limited number of permitted spots directly next to the building. The team at Hornet Commons has worked with the University Transportation and Parking Services office to provide additional parking in a lot adjacent to the community. In line with other housing options at Sacramento State, parking for each individual resident is neither promised nor guaranteed. We are continuing to monitor the situation and work to navigate the situation. We understand your concerns about move-out day, please feel free to contact the leasing office with specifics regarding move-out day. The hammocks have been placed back out on the property, they were removed during the winter to preserve them for summer. We hope to hear from you soon!
The parking lot is so small, it does not have enough spots for all of the residents and finding parking is next to impossible. I have my parking pass, I work full-time and get home at around 11:30 PM, so when I get home and there’s no spots I have to be parked in staff parking which is ALWAYS empty. My car was towed without me knowing. There is a number on the parking pass that is attached to my unit and no one ever let me know that I was not supposed to be in that spot or to move or that they were towing it. We then later called the office to see how we can avoid this issue in the future. They said we were supposed to have been given our RA’s phone number when we moved in, that never happened, and to call them when I am unable to find a parking space. So tonight I did just that, the solution they offered me was to call the tow company myself and find a car that did not have a parking permit and have them towed myself. When I told my parents this information they were obviously upset and they called the RAs themselves. Their whole demeanor changed and they decided that they were going to look for a spot for me. They were able to find a spot however there’s a part of the parking lot that is facing the street where a group of homeless people reside and is very unsafe. Mind you, in the time I’ve been here there as been a literal police chase and someone was jumped in the parking lot. The people in the office are completely ignorant and nonchalant and I’ve had numerous problems with them before the parking incident. I do not recommend this complex to any student.

Definitely do not recommend!! Offer incentives to renew lease and then continually make excuses when asked when to expect the item as promised. Advertise that a benefit of renewing lease means you stay in your same room and don’t have to pack anything up and then later say, oh only if you do this one certain lease—that doesn’t apply to all of them. Nuisance notices and warnings about insignificant issues. No overnight guest parking. They had residents park in adjacent lot for spring move in day and didn’t make arrangements with the school so all those residents got a parking ticket for parking overnight (as they were requested to do!!) They refuse to check license plates for registered resident vehicles and instead tow without warning (even when parking permit is on the dash where it fell instead of hanging). Apartments look nice but drawers and cabinets are largely unusable. Kitchen upper cabinets look nice but not practical. You cannot reach more than the lower shelf without a large step stool. Kitchen sink is totally inappropriate for a kitchen. It is more a shallow bar sink and makes it difficult to wash larger pans. Staff continually remind you that “it’s a learning process” for them however they don’t give any grace to residents in the same manner. Staff is extremely inconsistent with responses and many times outright rude. All of these issues have been raised to Management and they do not address any of the issues but instead just try to deflect. Multiple residents are raising these issues and management has shown they are not interested in making any adjustments or changes to promote a better living environment.

Greetings - Thank you for contacting Hornet Commons. Although we strive for positive experiences for all residents in the community, we appreciate all feedback as an opportunity to get better. Please allow me to address some of your concerns in your review. The residents that qualified for their incentive were contacted with instructions on how to receive their incentive. Please contact our office if you have not received your incentive. Hornet Commons does offer lease terms that allow our students to remain in their space during the summer. We will love to speak with you about these options if you like! Hornet Commons has hosted Town Hall meetings to get residents' feedback and provide in-person answers and explanations. Communication is essential, so we apologize if our notification emails are abundant. Our overall goal is to communicate as much as possible with our community. Please feel free to give us a call to discuss these concerns with our staff! 916-573-6205
The parking spaces are pretty small. The big tv in the living room doesn’t come with a cord long enough to connect to the cable. The tv is on one side of the wall while the cable outlet is on the other side. In person the bedrooms are small and the under the bed drawers are small and you can’t fit a lot down there. Some of the fans make noise. Also, the trash room today wasn’t open so my roommates had to go all the way near building H to throw trash. (We’re in building B) Move in day I had to bring all my bags in cause there were not enough carts.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave our community a review! If you need additional support with your cable cord in the living room please feel free to give us a call or come down to the leasing office and we would be more than happy to help. Some of our residents have been able to move some furniture around to create additional space. We appreciate all of your feedback, please let us know if you have any questions, comments or concerns in the future. Best, Hornet Commons Team
The move-in experience was pretty good! I was able to select my room early so I was able to message my roommates. The pool and gym are nice and the staff is cool. However, you can tell that some of them are new.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write our community a review! We are so happy you had a great move in experience with us. We appreciate your feedback. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you! Best, Hornet Commons Team
Leases are misleading and of course they are trying to cram as many students in a room as possible to make as much money off of us as possible. When you call to try and resolve a problem, every staff member gives different answers to your questions and then management says something else different! Extremely unorganized staff.
Property Manager at Hornet Commons Student Housing, Responded To This Review
Greeting, you review has been received. Our community offers a 4x2 where you can have single room option! It's concerning that you received different answers when you called. Please feel free to contact management at 916-573-6205. Hornet Commons Management
The staff at Hornet Commons are great, they reply in a timely manner anytime I had a question regarding leasing at the property. It’s going to be great having all the luxuries so close to campus.
