Vibrant and historic Downtown Syracuse is much more than the city's hub. The cobblestone streets, wide sidewalks, and stately brick buildings create a fantastic shopping and dining district, while the neighborhood's proximity to Syracuse University adds a student dynamic. At the heart of Downtown Syracuse, Armory Square -- a large collection of historic warehouses and the armory that's now a museum -- is the city's nightlife hotspot. The Armory contains a large concentration of restaurants and bars as well as several unique shops.
Some of Downtown Syracuse's most beloved landmarks include the Clinton Square Ice Rink, the Museum of Science and Technology, and the historic Landmark Theatre. The ornate theater, decorated in rich red and gold, first opened in 1928. Another landmark, the McCarthy Building, was built in 1894 and is the oldest building in Syracuse.

Property Ratings at Hudson Lofts
I literally couldn’t beat this location for the last 2 years! It was perfect for my job and walking distance to all kinds of entertainment. My unit was nicely upgraded and honestly far cleaner than any other apartment during my time in Syracuse!
Let's start off with the front doors. There are 2 sets of doors before you enter the building. The first set of doors from the street are often locked without anyway for you to open them remotely, thus all deliveries and guests require you to actually leave your apartment and go downstairs and manually open the doors. This, as you can imagine, has the added effect of causing major issues for UPS/Fedex/USPS to gain access to deliver your boxes. Many a times I have to go get my deliveries from the storage location. The unit itself is new with nice appliances. No issues with the cabinets or lighting. However, the heating and air conditioning systems basically do not work. In the winter, you will freeze, and they will pretend to fix it, essentially giving you portable heaters while your electricity bill wracks up and in the summer your house will be in the 80s. It is the ultimate worst aspect of this apartment. In a city like Syracuse, where heating is essential for survival, prepare yourself for very cold winters. Additionally, each unit has a tiny water heater of its own, thus, your showers are limited to 15mins. Which, I don't know about you, for me is not enough. And if you're planning on doing laundry or using the dishwasher around the same time, good luck. When asked, I was told to deal with it and turn the water off, wait a few hours and try again. So apparently I'm expected to take my showers in pieces; first do my hair, then wait a few hours, then soap the body, then wait a few hours etc. And don't even think about having more than 1 person in the house needing a shower after you. All in all, I lived here for 2 years, and would never do it again. The management company is great, they actually reimbursed me for a few months of the electric bill because my bill was so high with the system being on all day, but the owners are the cheapest and most uncaring humans in the world.
